Blind individuals, who by necessity depend on screen readers to interact with computers, face considerable challenges in navigating the diverse and complex graphical user interfaces of different computer applications. The heterogeneity of various application interfaces often requires blind users to remember different keyboard combinations and navigation methods to use each application effectively. To alleviate this significant interaction burden imposed by heterogeneous application interfaces, we present Savant, a novel assistive technology powered by large language models (LLMs) that allows blind screen reader users to interact uniformly with any application interface through natural language.

Background: Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis (CVST) is a relatively rare type of stroke, accounting for less than 3% of all stroke cases, and is associated with significant morbidity and mortality in young females. Introduction Quaternary ammonium compounds (QACs) are the active ingredient in the majority of disinfectants approved for use against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the causative agent of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Although widely used, they have been linked to infertility and birth defects in animals, and have been shown to increase proinflammatory cytokines, decrease mitochondrial function, and disrupt sterol biosynthetic pathways in a dose-dependent manner in humans. This study examined if there was an increased use of QAC-based disinfectants among healthcare settings in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and aims to bring to light the negative health outcomes that this rise in QAC exposure may pose.

Human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated sinonasal squamous cell carcinoma (SNSCC) (HPV+ SNSCC) is a recently recognized entity that accounts for up to one-third of SNSCC. Although at present these cancers are not routinely tested for HPV, the incidence is increasing and HPV+ SNSCC is associated with superior survival outcomes compared with HPV- SNSCC. Here, we present the case of a patient with HPV+ SNSCC treated with endoscopic resection followed by postoperative radiation and review the literature summarizing epidemiology and management of this disease, with emphasis on the importance of HPV testing in SNSCC.

The World Bank's report, represents an important effort to specify the benefits and criteria of fair processes in health financing decisions. Here we argue that the report's justification for increasing public engagement in health financing decisions, one of its most novel contributions, rests on a widely shared but flawed assumption that public engagement will produce more equitable outcomes. Examining evidence from national-level public engagement initiatives cited in the report, we argue that there is no reason to assume that engaged publics will prioritize equity over other relevant values such as the maximization of population health.

This work reports a scalable, low-cost fabrication approach to directly create and pattern crumpled porous graphene/NiS nanocomposites with high mechanical stretchability and electrical conductivity through laser irradiation combined with electrodeposition and a pre-strain strategy. With modulated mechanical stretchability and electrical conductivity, the crumpled graphene/NiS nanocomposite can be readily patterned into target geometries for application in a standalone stretchable sensing platform.
