Introduction: Migrant women in transit face high risk of developing mental health problems such as depression and anxiety, driven by gendered social-structural factors including violence, social isolation, migration uncertainty, limited access to services and gender inequities. Although migrant women who endure such conditions have high need for mental health prevention, few evidence-based interventions are tailored to this population. Moreover, while women and children's mental health are interconnected, few mental health interventions address parenting needs.

Introduction: To improve surgical quality and safety, health systems must prioritise equitable care for surgical patients. Racialised patients experience worse postoperative outcomes when compared with non-racialised surgical patients in settler colonial nation-states. Identifying preventable adverse outcomes for equity-deserving patient populations is an important starting point to begin to address these gaps in care.

The polycrystalline nature of perovskites, stemming from their facile solution-based fabrication, leads to a high density of grain boundaries (GBs) and point defects. However, the impact of GBs on perovskite performance remains uncertain, with contradictory statements found in the literature. We developed a machine learning force field, sampled GB structures on a nanosecond time scale, and performed nonadiabatic (NA) molecular dynamics simulations of charge carrier trapping and recombination in stoichiometric and doped GBs.

Background: In Alabama, the undiagnosed HIV rate is over 20%; youth and young adults, particularly those who identify as sexual and gender minority individuals, are at elevated risk for HIV acquisition and are the only demographic group in the United States with rising rates of new infections. Adolescence is a period marked by exploration, risk taking, and learning, making comprehensive sexual health education a high-priority prevention strategy for HIV and sexually transmitted infections. However, in Alabama, school-based sexual health and HIV prevention education is strictly regulated and does not address the unique needs of sexual and gender minority teenagers.

Reproductive organs are among the most variable and rapidly evolving structures in the animal kingdom, probably due to sexual selection. In insects, the diverse morphology of male genitalia is often one of the few visible characteristics that can reliably distinguish closely related species, making it crucial for taxonomic classification. Consistent with this, males of the model organism Drosophila melanogaster and its closely related species display remarkable variations in genital morphology.

Colorectal cancer (CRC), one of the diseases posing a threat to global health, according to the latest data, is the third most common cancer globally and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths. The development and refinement of novel structures of small molecular compounds play a crucial role in tumor treatment and overcoming drug resistance. In this study, our objective was to screen and characterize novel compounds for overcoming drug resistance via the B Lymphoma Mo-MLV insertion region 1 (Bmi-1) reporter screen assay.

Introduction: The location of buprenorphine treatment providers in the United States is pivotal to the understanding of regional factors associated with prescription and uptake. We evaluated how distinct data sources of treatment providers and their associated locations contribute to the differences observed when measuring buprenorphine accessibility.
Methods: We compared buprenorphine treatment provider data from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and data from the behavioral health treatment locator from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) for July 2022.

Combined cross-linked enzyme aggregates (Combi-CLEAs) of β-Galactosidase (β-Gal) and Glucose Isomerase (GI) allow the transformation of d-lactose to lactose-fructose syrup through one-pot cascade biocatalytic reactions. Despite its promise, the low thermostability of β-Gal and high-temperature demands for GI limits this application. Trehalose is a protein-stabilizing disaccharide which has been utilized in immobilized enzyme systems to enhance protein thermostability.

Ischemic heart disease is the most common cardiovascular cause of death in women worldwide. Obstructive coronary atherosclerosis is the primary cause of myocardial infarction (MI), however, non-atherosclerotic mechanisms of MI, such as spontaneous coronary artery dissection, vasospasm, microvascular dysfunction, embolization, inflammation, coronary anomalies, infectious and infiltrative causes are increasingly being recognized. Emerging data suggest that women are two to five times more likely to have an MI in the absence of coronary atherosclerosis compared to men, but they continue to remain underdiagnosed and undertreated, partly due to underdiagnosis and limited understanding of these mechanisms.

To gain further insights into the importance of the unsaturated 1,4-ketoaldehyde moiety of ophiobolin A (OpA) for the potency and selectivity observed toward cancer stem cells, several derivatives were synthesized through controlled reduction and oxidations of the unsaturated aldehyde and ketone moieties. Structure elucidation of these new OpA derivatives was achieved through detailed NMR studies and comparison to OpA and known isolated congeners possessing variations in these regions. The relative stereochemistry of the newly generated stereocenters was determined by coupling constants in conjunction with conformational analyses (DFT) of the synthetic derivatives.

Both photothermal therapy (PTT) and chemodynamic therapy (CDT) are designed to focus their antitumor effect on only the tumor site, thereby minimizing unwanted severe damage to healthy tissue outside the tumor. However, each monotherapy is limited in achieving complete tumor eradication, resulting in tumor recurrence. The combination of multiple therapies may help to overcome the limitations of single therapy, improve the chances of complete tumor eradication, and reduce the risk of recurrence.

There is substantial variation in access to transplantation across the United States that is not entirely explained by the availability of donor organs. Barriers to transplantation and variation in care among patients with end-stage organ disease exist prior to patients' placement on a transplant waiting list as well as following waitlist placement. However, there are currently no national data available to examine rates and variations in key care processes related to pre-listing, including transplant referral, evaluation, or candidate selection.

Background: PTB (PTB) remains a leading cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality. Cerclage for short cervical length (CL) ≤25mm in singletons with a history of spontaneous PTB is associated with decreased neonatal morbidity/mortality. Both vaginal progesterone and cerclage individually have level 1 evidence supporting benefit in prevention of PTB in pregnancies complicated by short CL, however there is a paucity of level 1 evidence regarding the potential benefit of cerclage with progesterone compared to progesterone alone for short CL ≤25mm in singletons without a history of spontaneous PTB.
