Biomass waste from grapefruit peel extract was used for the preparation of MgO-SiO composites in order to develop effective electrocatalytic composites based on NiO/MgO-SiO. The MgO-SiO composites were subsequently deposited with NiO using a modified hydrothermal method. The synthesized materials were analyzed to investigate their morphology, crystal structure, chemical composition, functional group, and optical band gap.

De novo small cell neuroendocrine prostate cancer: An atypical case presentation.

We report a case of a 62-year-old male who presented acutely with severe lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), including nocturia, but with normal prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels. Population ageing and growth is predicted to more than double the number of new cancer cases in the region over the next few decades, from 782 000 in 2022 to close to 1·8 million by the year 2050.

Severe asthma beyond bronchodilators: Emerging therapeutic approaches.

Asthma is characterized by reversible airway inflammation, obstruction, and structural remodeling, which lead to the eosinophils and lymphocytes accumulation at inflammation sites and the release of inflammatory cells, like mast cells and dendritic cells, from lungs' epithelial and smooth muscle cells that trigger the activation and release of cytokines and chemokines, attracting more cells and contributing to asthma development. Available pharmacological interventions, like bronchodilators and anti-inflammatory agents, are considered generally safe and effective to treat asthma, but many affected individuals with severe asthma still struggle with symptom control. This review highlights recent innovative therapies, such as chemoattractant receptor-homologous molecule expressed on Th2 cell (CRTH2) antagonists, S-nitrosoglutathione reductase (GSNOR) and phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitors, and other novel biological agents, which offer potential new strategies for managing severe asthma and may alter the disease's course.

The impact of anomalous warming on the phytoplankton dynamics in the euphotic zone (0-60 m depth) of the eastern Arabian Sea (EAS) during the southwest monsoon (SWM-2020) was investigated along the 68°E transect from 8°N to 21°N. During SWM-2020, sea surface temperatures (SSTs) along the transect exceeded 28 °C, with temperatures of ∼29-30 °C recorded in the North of the Findlater Jet Axis (NFJA). The active Findlater Jet (FJ) modulated the thermocline, causing shallower thermocline in the North EAS (NEAS, 16-21°N) and deeper thermocline in the South EAS (SEAS, 8-15°N).
