Lung cancer is a leading global cause of mortality, with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounting for a significant portion of cases. Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have transformed NSCLC treatment; however, many patients remain unresponsive. ICI resistance in NSCLC and its association with cellular plasticity, epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), enhanced adaptability, invasiveness, and resistance is largely influenced by epigenetic changes, signaling pathways, tumor microenvironment, and associated immune cells, fibroblasts, and cytokines.

Photoacoustic tomography (PAT) has emerged as a promising imaging modality for breast cancer detection, offering unique advantages in visualizing tissue composition without ionizing radiation. However, limited-view scenarios in clinical settings present significant challenges for image reconstruction quality and computational efficiency. This paper introduces novel unrolled deep learning networks based on split Bregman total variation (SBTV) and relaxed basis pursuit alternating direction method of multipliers (rBP-ADMM) algorithms to address these challenges.

Samples from 1,254 MacQueen's bustards (Chlamydotis macqueenii) were sent for parasitological examination to the department of parasitology of the Central Veterinary Research Laboratory between 2003 and 2022. The birds originated from sanctuaries where confiscated birds were kept but also from from zoos and private collections or were bred in captivity and released to conservation areas where they got injured or died for various reasons. The material consisted of mainly of intestines and faecal samples as well as heads, stomachs, muscles samples and cysts, isolated helminths, ecto-parasites and fly larvae.

Acetylcholinesterase inhibition, the principal mechanism of acute organophosphorus compound toxicity, cannot explain neuropsychiatric symptoms occurring after exposure to low organophosphate concentrations causing no cholinergic symptoms. Organophosphate-triggered oxidative stress has increasingly come into focus, occurring when the action of reactive oxygen species, generated from free radicals, is not compensated by antioxidant free radical scavengers. Being nucleophilic, organophosphates can easily accept an electron, thereby generating free radicals.

Mitogen-activated protein kinase 1 (MAPK1) is a serine/threonine kinase that plays a crucial role in the MAP kinase signaling transduction pathway. This pathway plays a crucial role in various cellular processes, including cell proliferation, differentiation, adhesion, migration, and survival. Besides, many chemotherapeutic drugs targeting the MAPK pathway are used in clinical practice, and novel inhibitors of MAPK1 with improved specificity and efficacy are required.

Safeguarding patients from emerging infectious diseases demands strategies that prioritise patient well-being and protection. Immunobridging is an established trial methodology which has been increasingly employed to ensure patient protection and provide clinicians with swift access to vaccines. It uses immunological markers to infer the effectiveness of a new drug through a surrogate measure of efficacy.

Squid viscera, a byproduct of squid processing, contains oil rich in omega-3 fatty acids (up to 10% by mass) and the antioxidant astaxanthin. However, its high free fatty acid (FFA) content compromises stability. To address this, pilot-scale (200 L) enzymatic re-esterification of squid oil using immobilized lipase (Lipozyme RMIM) was demonstrated, resulting in high acylglyceride yields.

Chest and abdomen radiographs are the most common radiograph examinations conducted in the Dubai Health sector, with both involving exposure to several radiosensitive organs. Diagnostic reference levels (DRLs) are accepted as an effective safety, optimization, and auditing tool in clinical practice. The present work aims to establish a comprehensive projection and weight-based structured DRL system that allows one to confidently highlight healthcare centers in need of urgent action.

Extensive investigation has been conducted on plant-based resources for their pharmacological usefulness, including various cancer types. The scope of this review is wider than several studies with a particular focus on breast cancer, which is an international health concern while studying sources of flavonoids, carotenoids, polyphenols, saponins, phenolic compounds, terpenoids, and glycosides apart from focusing on nursing. Important findings from prior studies are synthesized to explore these compounds' sources, mechanisms of action, complementary and synergistic effects, and associated side effects.

Diabetes causes an increase in the level of blood sugar, which leads to damage to various parts of the human body. Diabetes data are used not only for providing a deeper understanding of the treatment mechanisms but also for predicting the probability that one might become sick. This paper proposes a novel methodology to perform classification in the case of heavy class imbalance, as observed in the PIMA diabetes dataset.

Oxidative stress (OS) is established as a key factor in the etiology of both male and female infertility, arising from an imbalance between reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and the endogenous antioxidant (AOX) defenses. In men, OS adversely affects sperm function by inducing DNA damage, reducing motility, significantly impairing sperm vitality through plasma membrane peroxidation and loss of membrane integrity, and ultimately compromising overall sperm quality. In women, OS is implicated in various reproductive disorders, including polycystic ovary syndrome, endometriosis, and premature ovarian failure, leading to diminished oocyte quality, disrupted folliculogenesis, and poorer reproductive outcomes.

The State of Uttarakhand, located in the Himalayan region of North India, suffered one of the worst flash floods on June 16, 2013 where 5700 were presumed dead or missing. Since then, the region has suffered two other major flooding events in 2021 and 2023. Although numerous national government agencies recommend keeping disaster preparedness kits ready, the saliency and effectiveness of a household disaster preparedness kit in helping survivors, has not been empirically tested in the region.

Fractures of the humerus are common on the midshaft of the bone, often causing injury to the nutrient artery. Successful fracture repair and healing requires preservation of the blood supply to the long bones which is conveyed through the nutrient foramina (NF). The topography of long bone NF varies in different populations.

The outcome of refractory/relapsed systemic Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (R/R-sALCL), especially for anaplastic lymphoma kinase-1 (ALK-1)-negative disease, remains dismal even after autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (AHSCT). The intensification of both salvage and conditioning regimens, without increasing the toxicity, could improve the outcome of AHSCT in R/R-sALCL. Based on the successful experience of the incorporation of antiD20 monoclonal antibodies in the treatment of B-Cell Lymphomas, we designed a salvage and conditioning regimen incorporating the antiCD30-conjugated antibody (Brentuximab Vedotin, BV) to standard chemotherapy regimens, and we describe herein the clinical course of a patient with AKL-ve, R/R-sALCL, who received salvage regimen BV + DHAP, followed by AHSCT with preparative regimen consisted of BV plus standard BEAM.
