Objective: To investigate the feasibility of radiolabelled annexin V imaging for early diagnosis of Parkinson's disease.
Methods: 99mTc-HYNIC-annexin V was prepared and its binding to apoptotic cell models of Parkinson's disease was studied in vitro. Cellular models of Parkinson's disease were produced by administering different concentrations of 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium to PC12 and SH-SY5Y cell lines.

Aim: To investigate the role of SMYD3 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) development and progression and to verify whether its regulation activity was through RIZ1 inactivation.
Methods: Expression of SMYD3 in HCC cell lines and tissues were measured; silencing of SMYD3 by RNA interference (RNAi) was effectuated, hepatoma cell proliferation, migration and apoptosis were tested, with RIZ1 CpG promoter methylation, and corresponding mRNA expression were investigated.
Results: SMYD3 over-expression in HCC was associated with RIZ1 hypermethylation and mRNA down-expression.

Rectourethral or rectovaginal fistula is a troublesome complication after anorectal surgery. The pelvic and perineal dissection may be difficult because of severe fibrosis adhesion around the fistula. The authors applied a novel technique: a combined laparoscopic assisted abdominal and posterior sagittal approach (PSA) to perform the redo surgery.

Objective: To analyze the relationship between estrogen dependence of breast cancer cells and expression level of PC-cell derived growth factor (PCDGF) and investigate the possibility of practicing endocrine therapy in estrogen receptor negative breast cancer.
Methods: Expression level of PCDGF mRNA was detected by fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction and cell growth curve was drawn by cell count kit-8 method, then analyzed the relationship between the expression of PCDGF and dependence of estrogen. PCDGF shRNA vector was constructed and transfected into breast cancer cell lines (MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231) using Lipofectamin 2000, examined and compared the changes of estrogen dependence between the two cell lines.

The development of imatinib is a milestone in the treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), and its therapeutic effect has been extensively investigated in CML patients carrying M-bcr and m-bcr BCR/ABL fusion transcripts. However, our knowledge about its therapeutic effect on CML patients with rare BCR/ABL fusion transcripts e19a2(u-bcr) remains sparse. Here, we report on two CML patients with e19a2 transcripts who rapidly progressed into the accelerated phase, further confirming the possibility that 19a2 might be associated with an unfavorable prognosis in CML.

Objective: To study the effect of netrin-1, an axon guidance cue, on angiogenesis.
Methods: Human umbilical cord vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) were isolated and cultured. Reverse transcription and polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was used to detect all the known receptors of netrin-1 in the HUVECs.

Objective: The aim of this study was to discuss the diagnosis and treatment of special airway foreign body.
Method: Clinical data of 69 patients with airway foreign body were analyzed,of which 45 patients underwent rigid bronchoscopy while another 24 patients underwent tracheotomy.
Result: The operations succeeded in 43 of the 45 patients who underwent rigid bronchoscopy, while the other 2 patients died of respiratory failure because of the foreign body slipping off at the level of the glottis.

Objective: To determine the cellular kinetics of 99mTc-bis {N-ethoxy-N-ethyl dithiocarbamato-nitrido [N(NOEt)2]} in human nasopharyngeal carcinoma CNE cells line and to compare it with the cellular kinetics of 99mTc-methoxyisobutylisonitrile (MIBI) in the same conditions; to define the possible clinical application value of 99mTcN(NOEt)2 in nasopharyngeal carcinoma imaging.
Method: 99mTcN(NOEt)2 or 99mTc-MIBI were incubated with CNE cells at 37degrees C, 22 degrees C, at different time points after incubation, the uptake and washout characteristics of radiotracers in CNE cells were investigated and compared.
Result: The maximum uptake ratio of 99mTcN(NOEt)2 in CNE cells was 43.

Objective: To further evaluate the therapeutic effect of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) to idiopathic sudden deafness.
Method: A total number of 236 medical records of inpatients with idiopathic sudden deafness during 1997-2004 were collected from the Wuhan Union Hospital. Single factor analysis was done to evaluate the therapeutic effect with ten factors with SPSS analysis software.

Aim: To explore the possibility of marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) in vitro differentiating into functional islet-like cells and to test the diabetes therapeutic potency of Islet-like cells.
Methods: Rat MSCs were isolated from Wistar rats and cultured. Passaged MSCs were induced to differentiate into islet-like cells under following conditions: pre-induction with L-DMEM including 10 mmol/L nicotinamide+1 mmol/L beta-mercaptoethanol+200 mL/L fetal calf serum (FSC) for 24 h, followed by induction with serum free H-DMEM solution including 10 mmol/L nicotinamide+1 mmol/L, beta-mercaptoethanol for 10 h.
