Article Synopsis
  • * Severe cAEs accounted for 7.10% of reports, with immune-mediated myocarditis showing the highest toxic signal. Factors such as older age, male gender, specific drug types, and certain concomitant medications were associated with increased risk of severe cAEs.
  • * Additionally, genetic and immune factors, including PD-L1 mRNA and low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 3 (LRP3),

Stratified Treatment in Pediatric Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma: Result of a Prospective Open-Label Multiple-Institution Study.

Cancer Res Treat

October 2024

Department of Pediatric Oncology, Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, State Key Laboratory of Oncology in Southern China, and Collaborative Innovation Center of Cancer Medicine, Guangzhou, China.

Purpose: The risk stratification of pediatric anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) has not been standardized. In this study, new risk factors were included to establish a new risk stratification system for ALCL, and its feasibility in clinical practice was explored.

Materials And Methods: On the basis of the non-Hodgkin's lymphoma Berlin-Frankfurt-Munster 95 (NHL-BFM-95) protocol, patients with minimal disseminated disease (MDD), high-risk tumor site (multiple bone, skin, liver, and lung involvement), and small cell/lymphohistiocytic (SC/LH) pathological subtype were enrolled in risk stratification.

This prospective study aims to evaluate acute irradiation-induced xerostomia during radiotherapy by utilizing the normalized iodine concentration (NIC) derived from energy spectrum computed tomography (CT) iodine maps. In this prospective study, we evaluated 28 patients diagnosed with nasopharyngeal carcinoma. At 4 distinct stages of radiotherapy (0, 10, 20, and 30 fractions), each patient underwent CT scans to generate iodine maps.

Sepsis, a common and life-threatening condition in critically ill patients, is a leading cause of death in intensive care units. Over the past few decades, there has been significant improvement in the understanding and management of sepsis. However, the mortality rate remains unacceptably high, posing a prominent challenge in modern medicine and a significant global disease burden.

Background: The status of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) is related to the recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), which is also one of the reasons for the poor prognosis of HCC. The purpose of this study was to explore whether CTCs can help guide the choice of treatment methods for HCC.

Methods: This study is a multicenter retrospective study, including 602 patients with HCC.

Objective: To analyze the efficacy of percutaneous vertebroplasty for osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures with spinal origin abdominal pain as the main symptom.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on 37 patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures treated from January 2015 to January 2021, all of whom had spin-derived abdominal pain as the main symptom, and were divided into surgery group(21 cases) and conservative group (16 cases) according to different treatment methods. Patients in the surgery group were treated with percutaneous vertebroplasty, including 7 males and 14 females, with an average age of (75.

To investigate the relationship among the gut microbiome, serum metabolomic profile and RNA m6A methylation in patients with sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE), 16S rDNA technology, metabolomics and gene expression validation were applied. Serum and feces were collected from patients with and without (SAE group and non-SAE group, respectively, = 20). The expression of serum markers and IL-6 was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and blood clinical indicators were detected using a double antibody sandwich immunochemiluminescence method.

Research progress in myosin light chain 9 in malignant tumors.

Zhong Nan Da Xue Xue Bao Yi Xue Ban

October 2021

Fujian Institute of Hematology; Fujian Provincial Key Laboratory on Hematology; Department of Hematology, Union Hospital Affiliated to Fujian Medical University, Fuzhou 350001, China.

Myosin light chain 9 (MYL9) is a regulatory light chain of myosin, which plays an important role in various biological processes including cell contraction, proliferation and invasion. MYL9 expresses abnormally in several malignancies including lung cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, malignant melanoma and others, which is closely related to the poor prognosis, but the clinical significance for its expression varies with different types of cancer tissues. Further elucidating the molecular mechanism of MYL9 in various types of malignant tumor metastasis is of great significance for cancer prevention and treatment.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), a worldwide autoimmune disease with high heritability, shows differences in prevalence, severity and age of onset among different ancestral groups. Previous genetic studies have focused more on European populations, which appear to be the least affected. Consequently, the genetic variations that underlie the commonalities, differences and treatment options in SLE among ancestral groups have not been well elucidated.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of oral sitafloxacin versus levofloxacin in Chinese adults with acute uncomplicated urinary tract infection (UTI) or complicated UTI.

Methods: In this randomized, active-controlled clinical trial, the patients with acute uncomplicated UTI were randomized to receive sitafloxacin 100-mg once-daily (qd) or levofloxacin 500-mg qd orally for 3-5 days. The patients with complicated UTI were randomized to receive sitafloxacin 100-mg twice daily or levofloxacin 500-mg qd orally for 10-14 days.

Sepsis is an emergency systemic illness caused by pathogen infection and the combined result of the underactivity and overactivity of a patient's own immune system. However, the molecular mechanism of this illness remains largely unknown. Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) was injected to establish a sepsis model, and heart tissue was used to analyze transcriptome changes in mice.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a genetically complex autoimmune disease. Despite the significant progress made in identifying susceptibility genes for SLE, the genetic architecture of the disease is far from being understood. In this study, we set to replicate a number of suggestive association signals found in genome-wide association studies (GWASs) in additional independent cohorts.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of different antiplatelet therapies for stable angina patients with complicated left main coronary artery lesions and intermediate metabolizer Cytochrome P450 2C19 gene (CYP2C19) undergoing PCI.

Methods: A total of 247 patients diagnosed with stable angina in cardiology department of Fujian union hospital from February 2015 to February 2017 were retrospectively analyzed, among them, the elective PCI were performed on the left main coronary artery and the CYP2C19 gene poly-morphism were intermediate metabolize, they were divided into ticagrelor treatment group(aspirin combined with ticagrelor, =95)and clopidogrel treatment group(aspirin combined with clopidogrel, =152) according to the different antiplatelet treatment programs. Both groups were given aspirin 300 mg and clopidogrel 300 mg orally before PCI; the ticagrelor group were given the maintenance dose of ticagrelor (90 mg orally, twice a day) after PCI, while those in clopidogrel group were clopidogrel 75 mg orally (once a day) after PCI; both groups were given the maintenance dose of aspirin (100 mg orally, once a day)after PCI.
