: Incomptine A () has been reported to have cytotoxic activity in non-Hodgkin lymphoma cancer cell lines and have effects on U-937 cells, including the induction of apoptosis, the production of reactive oxygen species, and the inhibition of glycolytic enzymes. Also, has cytotoxic activity in the triple-negative subtypes, HER2+, and luminal A of breast cancer cells, with its properties being associated with an effect on the antiapoptotic function of Hexokinase II (HKII). : In this research, we reviewed the altered levels of proteins present in the lymph nodes of male Balb/c mice inoculated with U-937 cells and treated with or methotrexate, as well as mice only inoculated with cancer cells.

Serum creatinine levels are the most used clinical marker to estimate renal function as the glomerular function rate because it is simple, fast, and inexpensive. However, creatinine has limitations, as its levels can be influenced by factors such as advanced age, physical activity, protein-rich diets, male gender, medications, and ethnicity. Serum cystatin C and its combination with serum creatinine may serve as an alternative since these factors do not affect it.

Background: Longitudinal analysis of multimorbidity (MM) from a holistic approach to the aging population is necessary to guide medical care.
Aims: To estimate the probability of transition between different MM patterns and the "death" stage and to characterize the socioeconomic, health, behavioral, and functional dimensions of MM patterns from a syndemic perspective.
Methods: A cohort of 7,120 people ≥50 from the Mexican Health and Aging Study and mortality data at 11 and 17 years of follow-up were analyzed using the latent class approach.

Cardiovascular disease is the main cause of mortality in Mexico as well as the rest of the world, with dyslipidemia being one of the main risk factors. Despite the importance of its epidemiological impact, there is still -among primary care physicians- a lack of knowledge ranging from the basic concepts for diagnosis to the most recent recommendations for treatment. This document consisting of 10 questions is done by experts in this field.

Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a complex disease driven by the immune system attacking the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas. Understanding the role of different T cell subpopulations in the development and progression of T1D is crucial. By employing flow cytometry to compare the characteristics of T cells, we can pinpoint potential indicators of treatment response or therapeutic inefficacy.

: The increase in patients with type 2 diabetes, coupled with the development of complications caused by the same disease is an alarming aspect for the health sector. One of the main complications of diabetes is nephropathy, which is also the main cause of kidney failure. Once diagnosed, in Mexican patients the kidney damage is already highly compromised, which is why acting preventively is extremely important.

Bladder cancer (BC) is the most common neoplasm of the urinary system and ranks tenth in global cancer incidence. Due to its high recurrence rate and the need for continuous monitoring, it is the cancer with the highest cost per patient. Cystoscopy is the traditional method for its detection and surveillance; however, this is an invasive technique, while non-invasive methods, such as cytology, have a limited sensitivity.

Background: Gaucher disease (GD) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder caused by mutations in the GBA1 gene that lead to a deficiency in the glucocerebrosidase gene. This deficiency results in the accumulation of glucocerebrosides in macrophages, primarily affecting the liver, spleen, and bone marrow. Focusing on the Mexican population, this study aims to review GD's epidemiology, clinical manifestations, and treatment options to enhance early diagnosis and optimize treatment outcomes.

Introduction: orthopedic device-associated infections (ODI) are considered surgical site infections (SSI). SSIs are generally attributed to contamination during surgery, but they require certain factors for their development. Therefore, the objective of this study was to analyze the risk factors for the development of SSIs in patients with closed fractures.

Objective: Being Mexico a very diverse developing country, the access to health care varies among geographical regions. We aimed to assess the differences in clinical features and treatment prescription in 3 regions of Mexico using data from the Mexican Adverse Events Registry (BIOBADAMEX).
Methods: We included all BIOBADAMEX patients from 2016 to 2023, compared the prescription patterns, the sociodemographic, clinical, and treatment characteristics between the northern (NR), central (CR), and southern regions (SR), and addressed the treatment survival by calculating hazards ratios (HRs).

Background: Intradialytic hypotension (IDH) is a common and serious complication in renal replacement therapy, especially in hospitalized patients. The absence of a standardized definition complicates data synthesis and the development of evidence-based guidelines. Current definitions vary, including different blood pressure thresholds, clinical symptoms, and the need for medical intervention during dialysis.

Background: Breast cancer (BC) is a multifactorial disease of unknown etiology whose major risk factors are genetic alterations of cell proliferation and migration pathways. HOX transcript antisense RNA gene (HOTAIR) is a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) related to cell proliferation, progression, invasion, metastasis, and poor survival of multiple cancers, including BC. Controversial results have emerged on the association between breast cancer risk in multiple ethnicities.

The use of peptides for cancer immunotherapy is a promising and emerging approach that is being intensively explored worldwide. One such peptide, GK-1, has been shown to delay the growth of triple-negative breast tumors in mice, reduce their metastatic capacity, and reverse the intratumor immunosuppression that characterizes this model. Herein, it is demonstrated that GK-1 is taken up by bone marrow dendritic cells in a dose-dependent manner 15 min after exposure, more efficiently at 37 °C than at 4 °C, implying an entrance into the cells by energy-independent and -dependent processes through clathrin-mediated endocytosis.

Background: Obesity is a risk factor for COVID-19 mortality; a BMI >35 increases the risk of death up to 12-fold; two previous studies have examined the association between visceral fat quantified by tomography and the risk of severe COVID-19, but not its association with mortality.
Objective: Examine whether tomographic findings differentiated data from patients who died of COVID-19 pneumonia from those who survived in a cohort of patients at a tertiary hospital.
Methods: This was a case-control study (1:1) in which we recruited data from patients at a tertiary care hospital in Mexico.

Background: The trend over time and across different geographical areas of outcomes and management with noninvasive ventilation or invasive mechanical ventilation in patients admitted for acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and treated with ventilatory support is unknown. The purpose of this study was to describe outcomes and identify variables associated with survival for patients admitted to an intensive care unit (ICU) with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease [aeCOPD] who received noninvasive or invasive mechanical ventilation worldwide.
Methods: Retrospective, multi-national, and multicenter studies, including four observational cohort studies, were carried out in 1998, 2004, 2010, and 2016 for the VENTILAGROUP following the same methodology.
