Background: Alterations of dopamine (DA) transmission in the brain reward system can be associated with an addictive-like state defined as food addiction (FA), common in obese individuals. Subjects affected by FA experience negative feelings when abstinent from their preferred diet and may develop mood disorders, including depression, sustained by alterations in brain DA pathways.
Objective: This study aims to investigate the impact of long-term abstinence from a palatable diet on depressive-like behavior in rats, exploring neurochemical alterations in monoamine and endocannabinoid signaling in DA-enriched brain regions, including ventral tegmental area, dorsolateral striatum, substantia nigra and medial prefrontal cortex.

The recommendation to apply external heat to patients with anorexia nervosa (AN) was first documented by William Gull in 1874. Gull encountered this practice during his tenure as a consultant physician, responsible for issuing medical certifications for wealthy clients seeking admission to Ticehurst Asylum, one of the most successful and reputable private asylums in England. Gull attributed the origins of this practice to the studies by Charles Chossat (1796-1875), a physiologist, physician, and politician from Geneva, who discovered the therapeutic effects of heat on starved animals by chance.

Objective: This research delves into the intricate interplay between antipsychotic medications and neuroprotection focusing on the S100B protein, a central player in the regulation of neuroapoptotic activity.
Method: Blood samples were collected to assess serum S100B protein levels using an immunoassay of immunoelectrochemiluminescence. The first two samples were collected with a 3-month interval between each, and the third sample was obtained 6 months after the previous one.

The burden of self-stigma in psychosis has been widely studied, leading to the development and implementation of self-stigma reduction programmes to ameliorate its impact. In order to successfully improve self-stigma in psychosis, we must evaluate the effect of available interventions to help clinicians select the most appropriate approach for their patients. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the effect of self-stigma reduction interventions in people with psychosis while considering the interventions' characteristics as an important moderator of their effect.

Background: Indigenous knowledge and responses were implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic to protect health, showcasing how Indigenous communities participation in health systems could be a pathway to increase resilience to emergent hazards like climate change. This study aimed to inform efforts to enhance climate change resilience in a health context by: (1) examining if and how adaptation to climate change is taking place within health systems in the Peruvian Amazon, (2) understanding how Indigenous communities and leaders' responses to climatic hazards are being articulated within the official health system and (3) to provide recommendations to increase the climate change resilience of Amazon health systems.
Methods: This study was conducted among two Peruvian Amazon healthcare networks in Junin and Loreto regions.

The use of flow cytometry in mice is constrained by several factors, including the limited availability of mouse-specific antibodies and the need to work with small volumes of peripheral blood. This is particularly challenging for longitudinal studies, as serial blood samples should not exceed 10% of the total blood volume in mice. To address this, we have developed two novel flow cytometry panels designed to extensively analyze immune cell populations in mice during longitudinal studies, using only 50 µL of peripheral blood per panel.

Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) is characterized as a very common fungal infection that significantly affects women's health worldwide. Essential oils (EOs) are currently being evaluated as an alternative therapy. The development of efficient techniques such as micro- or nanoencapsulation for protecting and controlling release is essential to overcome the limitations of EO applications.
