The study aimed to determine if Cloninger's temperament and character inventory (TCI-R) could predict outcomes in individuals with alcohol use disorders.
The research involved 237 outpatients over a 6-month period, analyzing personality traits associated with treatment success or dropout.
Results indicated that higher scores in novelty seeking (NS) correlated with a greater likelihood of dropping out of treatment, suggesting that the TCI-R is effective for predicting treatment outcomes in these patients.
