The safety assessment of cosmetic products is based on the safety of the ingredients, which requires information on chemical structures, toxicological profiles, and exposure data. Approximately 6% of the population is sensitized to cosmetic ingredients, especially preservatives and fragrances. In this context, the aim of this study was to perform a hazard assessment and risk characterization of benzalkonium chloride (BAC), benzyl alcohol (BA), caprylyl glycol (CG), ethylhexylglycerin (EG), chlorphenesin (CP), dehydroacetic acid (DHA), sodium dehydroacetate (SDH), iodopropynyl butylcarbamate (IPBC), methylchloroisothiazolinone and methylisothiazolinone (MCI/MIT), methylisothiazolinone (MIT), phenoxyethanol (PE), potassium sorbate (PS), and sodium benzoate (SB).

The aim is to evaluate the effects of photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) on the guided bone regeneration process (GBR) in defects in the calvaria of rats filled with biphasic calcium phosphate associated with fibrin biopolymer. Thirty male Wistar rats were randomly separated: BMG ( 10), defects filled with biomaterial and covered by membrane; BFMG ( 10), biomaterial and fibrin biopolymer covered by membrane; and BFMLG ( 10), biomaterial and fibrin biopolymer covered by membrane and biostimulated with PBMT. The animals were euthanized at 14 and 42 days postoperatively.

Parental ethanol consumption can influence the offspring phenotype. In this way, we analyzed the impairments of maternal and paternal high ethanol consumption during postpuberty on the physical development, feeding pattern, puberty onset and reproductive function of ethanol-naive offspring to birth to adulthood. Female and male UChB rats (voluntary 10%, v/v ethanol consumer) were divided into a control group (C) and an ethanol exposed group (E) from 65 to 80 days of age.

Significant efforts have been recently made to obtain the three-dimensional (3D) structure of the genome with the goal of understanding how structures may affect gene regulation and expression. Chromosome conformational capture techniques such as Hi-C, have been key in uncovering the quantitative information needed to determine chromatin organization. Complementing these experimental tools, co-polymers theoretical methods are necessary to determine the ensemble of three-dimensional structures associated to the experimental data provided by Hi-C maps.

Phthalocyanines are second-generation photosensitizers with photophysical and photochemical properties improved, in comparison to the first-generation. Also, these have shown to be phototoxic against several types of microorganisms and tumor cells. However, challenges such as low solubility in the physiological environment make its single administration unfeasible.

Bats are mammals that play a fundamental role in the regulation of the ecosystems by, for example, controlling the insect populations. Therefore, insectivorous species, such as Molossusmolossus, have become the target of great scientific interest. Despite the different studies that exist on the species, there is still no consensus regarding its reproduction.

Background And Purpose: Decompressive hemicraniectomy is a life-saving procedure for the treatment of space-occupying middle cerebral artery infarctions (malignant stroke); however, patients may survive severely disabled. Comprehensive data on long-term sequelae outside randomized controlled trials are scarce.
Methods: We retrospectively evaluated the survival rates, quality of life, ability to perform activities of daily living, and caregiver burden of 61 patients (aged from 37 to 83) who had previously undergone decompressive hemicraniectomy for malignant stroke between 2012 and 2017.

Background And Objective: It has been suggested that pelvic floor dysfunction may contribute to the development of lumbopelvic pain as a result of changes in trunk muscle control. However, there is limited evidence that pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) can improve clinical outcomes in women with lumbopelvic pain.
Databases And Data Treatment: Six databases were searched for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing the effectiveness of PFMT to other conservative interventions (usual physiotherapy care or minimal intervention), no treatment or placebo interventions on pain and disability in women with lumbopelvic pain.

Aim: To evaluate the effect of two antioxidant formulations (sodium ascorbate and α-tocopherol) on fracture resistance of endodontically treated teeth.
Materials And Methods: Sixty human premolars were endodontically treated and divided into six groups ( = 10): G1 (negative control)-unbleached and restored with composite resin; G2 (positive control)-bleached in three sessions, using hydrogen peroxide (15 HO) plus titanium dioxide (TiO) nanoparticles, photoactivated by LED laser system and restored with composite resin; G3-bleaching similar to G2, after the use of 10% sodium ascorbate gel for 24 hours and restored with composite resin; G4-similar to G3, but with the use of 10% sodium ascorbate solution and restored with composite resin; G5 and G6-similar to G3, but with the use of 10% α-tocopherol in alcohol or carbopol, respectively, and was also restored. A mechanical fracture resistance test was performed and the Kruskal-Wallis test was used to evaluate the results ( = 0.

This study assessed the effectiveness of models for developing subsurface caries lesions in vitro and verified mineral changes by transverse microradiography (TMR). Enamel blocks from permanent (n=5) and deciduous teeth (n=5) were submitted to lesion induction by immersion in demineralizing solutions during 96 h, followed by pH cycles of demineralization (de) and remineralization (re) for 10 days. Two de-/re solutions were tested.

Photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy is used to stimulate cell proliferation and metabolism, as well as reduce inflammatory cytokine synthesis, which plays a main role in the long-term stability of implants. This study assessed the response of gingival fibroblasts cultured on titanium (Ti) and zirconia (ZrO), submitted to PBM and exposed to lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Cells seeded on Ti and ZrO were irradiated (InGaAsP; 780 nm, 25 mW) 3 times, using 0.

A common characteristic of sex chromosomes is the accumulation of repetitive DNA, which accounts for their diversification and degeneration. In grasshoppers, the X0 sex-determining system in males is considered ancestral. However, in some species, derived variants like neo-XY in males evolved several times independently by Robertsonian translocation.

Introduction: Acute exacerbation is an important factor for a worse prognosis in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It promotes the increase of the inflammatory process and worsens quality of life, lung function, and muscle weakness. It is believed that physical exercise performed during the exacerbation breaks the vicious cycle of systemic manifestations without an increase in the inflammatory process.
