Background: Ado-trastuzumab emtansine is an antibody-drug conjugate that combines the cytotoxic activity of emtansine with human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-targeted antitumor features of trastuzumab.

Objective: We conducted a study of metastatic breast cancer patients treated with trastuzumab emtansine. By evaluating progression-free survival, overall survival, and response rates, we aimed to find prognostic factors of trastuzumab emtansine treatment.

Compression of the Left Atrium and Pulmonary Veins Due to Ascending and Descending Aortic Aneurysms.

An 89-year-old female patient presented to our cardiology outpatient clinic complaining of shortness of breath and back pain. Chest X-ray demonstrated a widened mediastinum. Transthoracic echocardiography showed an ascending aortic aneurysm and the modified apical 5-chamber view showed that left atrium was compressed between the ascending and descending aortas.

Presurgical Predictive Factors of Excess Weight Loss After Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy.

Purpose: Conditions associated with surgical technique and postoperative lifestyle changes, as well as the characteristics of patients, may affect weight loss following laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. In this study, the effects of age, gender, BMI, and excess weight at the time of surgery on weight loss during follow-up were examined.

Materials And Methods: Demographic data (age, gender), preoperative BMI, and weight values of the patients were recorded.

A new approach for spinal deformity patients with meningomyelocele: reverse Y incision.

We report a new surgical incision for spinal deformity in patients who had undergone meningomyelocele closure surgery. Six patients underwent kifectomy using an inverse Y incision. They all had multiple prior operations in the lumbar region due to dural meningomyeloceles.

Effect of lower extremity amputation on caregiving burden in caregivers of patients with diabetic foot: Prospective cohort study.

Lower extremity amputation as a treatment of diabetic foot ulcer is probably a major burden for the patient's family and friends, who typically act as caregivers and support the patient in coping with the physical disabilities and emotional distress. In the present prospective study, we investigated the effects of different lower extremity amputation levels for diabetic foot ulcer treatment on caregivers of patients with diabetes using the Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI-12) scale. Patients with diabetic foot ulcers who underwent unilateral major amputation (above-below knee) and minor amputation of foot (heel sparing) and their caregivers were requested to volunteer to participate in this study from June 2016 to December 2018.

Serum Endocan Levels Predict Drug-Eluting Stent Restenosis in Patients with Stable Angina Pectoris.

Background: Endothelial cell-specific molecule 1 (ESM-1 or endocan) is an immunoinflammatory marker strongly associated with inflammation, vascular endothelial dysfunction and atherosclerosis. We explored the relationship between serum endocan concentrations and coronary in-stent restenosis (ISR).

Methods: Fifty consecutive patients with ISR and 50 control subjects were included in this study.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the predictive value of copeptin levels in the development of contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN).

Methods: A total of 274 patients diagnosed with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and who had undergone primary percutaneous coronary intervention were included in the study. The patients were divided into two groups according to the presence (CIN+) or absence (CIN-) of CIN.

Incarcerated Appendix Epiploica in Inguinal Hernia Sac: Treatment with Laparoscopic TAPP Approach-Report of a Rare Case.

Appendix epiploica (AE) in an incarcerated inguinal hernia sac is very rare. We herein report the case of a 57-year-old man admitted to the emergency department with complaints of nausea, swelling, and pain in the left inguinal area. He was diagnosed with left incarcerated inguinal hernia and treated laparoscopically with transabdominal preperitoneal (TAPP) mesh hernioplasty.

Effect of heroin on right ventricular cardiac performance.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of heroin addiction, which is an important social and health problem, on right cardiac function.

Methods: A total of 85 individuals were included in the study. The study group comprised 45 patients smoking heroin and the control group was 40 healthy individuals with no drug addiction.

Objective: To investigate the predictive value of the PRECISE-DAPT score for the development of arrhythmias in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention.

Method: A total of 706 patients with a diagnosis of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction who underwent primary percutaneous coronary intervention were enrolled to the study. The patients were divided into two groups according to the PRECISE-DAPT score (PRECISE-DAPT score ≥25 and PRECISE-DAPT score <25).

Relationship between paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and a novel electrocardiographic parameter P wave peak time.

Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the relationship between a novel electrocardiographic (ECG) parameter P wave peak time (PWPT) and classic P wave parameters with atrial fibrillation (AF).

Methods: A total of 140 individuals, including 70 patients with AF history and 70 healthy individuals without AF as the control group were included in the study. These groups were compared in terms of demographic characteristics, laboratory findings and ECG parameters.
