J Mol Model

September 2024

Department of Biophysics, Institute for Research and Medical Consultations (IRMC), Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University, P.O. Box 1982, Dammam, 31441, Saudi Arabia.

Context: The study undertakes a comparative analysis of four distinct semi-fluorinated chiral Organic Active Ferroelectric Liquid Crystals (OAFLCs). The comparative analysis of the compounds is done by using various parameters, including thermodynamic, non-linear optical, electrical, atomic charge distribution, and atomic orientations. We use optimization algorithms to look at chemical reactivity, electrical properties, intermolecular interactions, and static hyperpolarizability.

Article Synopsis
  • Isoproterenol (ISO) is a non-selective β agonist that can damage cardiac tissues and affect heart function.
  • Alchemilla vulgaris (AV) is an herbal plant known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which may help protect the heart.
  • In a study with mice, AV treatment reduced the damage caused by ISO, improving antioxidant levels, decreasing inflammation markers, and lowering cardiac injury in a dose-dependent manner.

January 2024

Department of Clinical Nutrition, Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, UmmAl-Qura University, P.O. Box: 7067, Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

Background: Melatonin is an indoleamine hormone secreted by the pineal gland at night and has an essential role in regulating human circadian rhythms (the internal 24-h clock) and sleep-wake patterns. However, it has recently gained considerable attention for its demonstrated ability in disease management. This review discusses the major biological activities of melatonin, its metabolites as nutritional supplements, and its bioavailability in food sources.

Coronaviruses are the causative agents of many infectious diseases in human and animals. These included severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), avian infectious bronchitis (IBV) in poultry, Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS), and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in humans. These results had considerable death burdens and negative influences on social-economic life.

Anorectal melanomas are exceptionally uncommon and only 30% of anorectal melanomas are amelanotic. We report here a case of an anorectal amelanotic melanoma in a female patient. An 84-year-old patient complained of anal mass for 3 months.

Novel 2-thiazolylphthalazine derivatives were efficiently synthesized under ultrasound irradiation, resulting in high yields and short reaction times after optimization of the reaction conditions. All prepared compounds were fully characterized using spectroscopic methods. They were screened for their antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria as well as for antifungal activity.
