Background: Endovascular aneurysm sealing (EVAS) is an innovative alternative to conventional endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR). EVAS relies on sac anchoring without proximal fixation to achieve sealing and should have allowed for the treatment of a broader range of anatomic features compared with standard EVAR. Despite the encouraging early reports, the mid- and long-term follow-up data have shown increased rates of failure.

Background: Global experience with splenic flexure cancer is limited because of its low incidence. Both limited (segmental) and extended resections are performed, because agreement on which is the adequate procedure has not been reached.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether segmental resection is as safe and effective as extended resection.

Background: The high technical difficulty of using a laparoscopic approach to reach the posterosuperior liver segments is mainly associated with their poor accessibility. This study was performed to analyze correlations between anthropometric data and intraoperative outcomes.
Study Design: All patients who underwent segmentectomy or wedge laparoscopic liver resection (LLR) of segments seven and/or eight from June 2012 to November 2019 were retrospectively analyzed.

Background: Intraoperative liver ultrasound appears superior to liver-specific contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to stage colorectal liver metastases (CRLMs). Most of the data come from studies on open surgery. Laparoscopic ultrasound (LUS) is technically demanding and its reliability is poor investigated.

Background: Difficulty scores (DSs) have been proposed to rate laparoscopic liver resection (LLR) technical difficulty increasing surgical safety. The aim of the study was to validate three DSs (Hasegawa, Halls and Kawaguchi) and compare their ability to predict technical difficulty and postoperative outcomes.
Materials And Methods: All patients who underwent LLR from January 2006 to January 2019 were analyzed.

Background: Occasionally, right hepatectomy, rather than parenchyma-preserving hepatectomy, has been performed for solitary small colorectal liver metastasis. The relative oncologic benefits of parenchyma-preserving hepatectomy and right hepatectomy are unclear. This study compared the outcomes of patients with solitary small colorectal liver metastasis in the right liver who underwent parenchyma-preserving hepatectomy and those who underwent right hepatectomy.

Background: Outcomes in obese patients who underwent liver resection have been analyzed, but series are heterogeneous and data are controversial. The aim of this study was to analyze short-outcome in obese patients undergone hepatectomy for colorectal metastases.
Study Design: A retrospective analysis on 1,021 consecutive hepatectomies between January 2000 and April 2014 for colorectal metastases was carried out.

Laparoscopic liver surgery has gained widespread acceptance and nowadays it is suggested even for malignant disease. Although the benefits on short-term outcomes have been proven, data on oncological safety are still lacking. The aim of this study is to assess oncologic results after ultrasound-guided laparoscopic liver resection (LLR) or open liver resection (OLR) for colorectal metastases.

This study aimed at evaluating whether the administration of symbiotic therapy in jaundiced patients could reduce their postoperative infectious complications. The study was conducted between November 2008 and February 2011. Jaundiced patients scheduled for elective extrahepatic bile duct resection without liver cirrhosis, intestinal malabsorption or intolerance to symbiotic therapy were randomly assigned to receive [Group A] or not [Group B] symbiotics perioperatively.

Contracture of the elbow represents a disabling condition that can impair a person's quality of life. Regardless of the event that causes an elbow contracture, the conservative or surgical treatment is usually considered technically difficult and associated with complications. When the conservative treatment fails to restore an acceptable range of motion in the elbow, open techniques have been shown to be successful options.

Purpose: Successful outcomes for an athlete usually consist of returning to their sport. The Subjective Patient Outcome for Return to Sports (SPORTS) score has been recently proposed as an easy to use score for evaluating an athlete's ability to return to their sport. The aim of this study was to test the reliability and validity of the SPORTS score in athletes 5-10 years after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.

Aims: Extended operations are the only chance of a cure for patients with advanced gallbladder carcinoma, but there is no consensus about which subset of patients can benefit. The aim of this retrospective study is to evaluate the results of surgical resection with special reference to the prognostic factors and to long-term survival.
Methods: A retrospective review of 70 patients with a diagnosis of gallbladder cancer treated from 1985-1998 was performed: 33 patients had a curative resection and were included in this study.
