A new ground-dwelling treefrog species was discovered in the Harenna Forest of southeastern Ethiopia, characterized by its small size and unique digital discs on its limbs.
The species is ecologically and geographically distinct from high-altitude relatives, with a previously recognized hidden species from the Bale and Arsi Mountains being officially named.
Genetic analysis and historical expedition data were used to confirm the populations' separation, refining the type locality to Gamo Gofa, while also providing a guide for identifying Ethiopian species within the genus.
