This is the first study aimed to investigate the innervation of the internal genital organs in 12-week-old female pig foetuses using single and double-labelling immunofluorescence methods. Immunostaining for protein gene product 9.5 (PGP, general neural marker) revealed that the most numerous PGP-positive nerve fibres were found in the mesenchyme of the uterovaginal canal height.

German energy system studies, investigating the energy transition pathways to the set climate targets, depict a significant decrease in gas demand. This leads to a discussion about the long-term need of gas distribution networks. The discussion intensified with the war in Ukraine and the subsequent energy price crisis.

Point mutations at codon 600 of the BRAF oncogene are the most common alterations in cutaneous melanoma (CM). Assessment of BRAF status allows to personalize patient management, though the affordability of molecular testing is limited in some countries. This study aimed to develop a model for predicting alteration in BRAF based on routinely available clinical and histological data.

Bird eggs can be spherical, ellipsoid, ovoid, or pear-shaped (pyriform), the latter being the most complex. There is however no unambiguous evolutionary/adaptive explanation for this final, exotic shape. We hypothesized that pyriform eggs have a larger surface area-to-volume ratio (S/V) that may be a criterion for increased embryo metabolism.

The wetting characteristics of fluids play a crucial role in various fields of interface and surface science. Contact angle serves as a fundamental indicator of wetting behavior. However, accurate quantification of wetting phenomena even at the macroscale often poses challenges, particularly due to the hysteresis between receding and advancing contact angles.

Department of Theoretical Electrical Engineering and Diagnostics of Electrical Equipment, Institute of Electrodynamics, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Beresteyskiy, 56, Kyiv-57, 03680, Ukraine.

Microgrids (MGs) have gained significant attention over the past two decades due to their advantages in service reliability, easy integration of renewable energy sources, high efficiency, and enhanced power quality. In India, low-voltage side customers face significant challenges in terms of power supply continuity and voltage regulation. This paper presents a novel approach for optimal power scheduling in a microgrid, aiming to provide uninterrupted power supply with improved voltage regulation (VR).

Advanced control strategy for AC microgrids: a hybrid ANN-based adaptive PI controller with droop control and virtual impedance technique.

Sci Rep

December 2024

Department of Theoretical Electrical Engineering and Diagnostics of Electrical Equipment, Institute of Electrodynamics, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Beresteyskiy, 56, Kyiv-57, Kyiv, 03680, Ukraine.

In this paper, an improved voltage control strategy for microgrids (MG) is proposed, using an artificial neural network (ANN)-based adaptive proportional-integral (PI) controller combined with droop control and virtual impedance techniques (VIT). The control strategy is developed to improve voltage control, power sharing and total harmonic distortion (THD) reduction in the MG systems with renewable and distributed generation (DG) sources. The VIT is used to decouple active and reactive power, reduce negative power interactions between DG's and improve the robustness of the system under varying load and generation conditions.

Numerical proceeding to calculate impurity states in 2D semiconductor heterostructures.

Sci Rep

Centro de Investigación en Ciencias-IICBA, Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos, Cuernavaca, CP 62209, México.

The article provides and discusses details of numerical proceeding for the expansion method to calculate energy positions and wave functions of the localized and resonant electronic states emerging in quantum well-type semiconductor nanostructures because of perturbation of confined states by the Coulomb potential of the hydrogenic impurity center. Effective mass approximation is used. Several excited both resonant and non-resonant states are calculated and classified for the case of a simple rectangular GaAs/AlGaAs quantum well.

A case of brain injury with a transient syndrome of mainly disinhibited behaviour (Franz Binz) was the subject of the 1888 medical dissertation of Leonore Welt (∗1859 Chernivtsi, Ukraine; †1944 Geneva, Switzerland) which came to be discussed quite controversially. Although Binz was never fully forgotten, the similar "American crow-bar case" (Phineas Gage) attracted more interest. Welt's study, in contrast, provides not only well-illustrated neuropathological findings but also more detailed clinical data.

Environmental contamination can have lasting impacts on surrounding communities, though the long-term impacts can be difficult to ascertain. The disaster at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant in 1986 and subsequent remediation efforts resulted in contamination of the local environment with radioactive material, heavy metals, and additional environmental toxicants. Many of these are mutagenic in nature, and the full effect of these exposures on local flora and fauna has yet to be understood.

In this study, two new 5,6-dihydrotetrazolo[1,5-]quinazoline derivatives ( and ) were synthesized and characterized using IR, LC-MS, H, and C NMR spectra. Along with 13 previously reported analogues, these compounds underwent in vitro antifungal testing against clinical isolates using a serial dilution method (0.

Melatonin is considered a multifunctional stress metabolite and a novel plant hormone affecting seed germination, root architecture, circadian rhythms, leaf senescence, and fruit ripening. Melatonin functions related to plant adaptation to stress stimuli of various natures are considered especially important. One of the key components of melatonin's stress-protective action is its ability to neutralise reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species directly.

Unlabelled: This study investigates the anatomical prerequisites that could contribute to the development of this condition.

Material And Methods: Using multi-slice computed tomography (MSCT), the study examined the structure and relationships of key anatomical features, including the alveolar process, sinus wall thickness, and the position of the teeth in relation to the maxillary sinus.

Results: The results revealed that the lower wall of the maxillary sinus is predominantly formed by the alveolar process, with significant variability in wall thickness, especially between the central and lateral regions.

Center for Biomedical Photonics, College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering, Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Devices and Systems of Ministry of Education and Guangdong Province, Shenzhen University, Shenzhen 518060, PR China. Electronic address:

Cholesterol dysregulation, disorder of neuronal membrane lipid packing, and lipid rafts lead to the synthesis and accumulation of toxic amyloid-β (Aβ), contributing to the development of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Our study shows that near-infrared (NIR) transcranial photobiomodulation therapy (tPBMT) can reduce Aβ load and restore the properties of neuronal plasma membrane, including Aβ production, bilayer order, rafts, lipid content, and Ca channels during AD. Mice in the experiments were exposed to 808-nm LED for 1 h daily over 3 months.
