The Protein/Peptide Direct Virus Inactivation During Chromatographic Process: Developing Approaches.

Virus clearance is required for pharmaceutical preparations derived from animal or human sources such as blood products, vaccines, recombinant proteins produced in mammalian cell lines, etc. High cost and substantial protein losses during virus inactivation are significant problems for protein/peptide manufacturing. The goal of this project was to develop a method to perform virus inactivation in a course of protein chromatographic purification.

[Pathological changes in the microstructure of the sensomotor cortex of white rats with experimental subarachnoid hemorrhage and after experimental influences].

Introduction: Many works are dedicated to research in the experiment of the cerebrovascular diseases and correction of pathological changes. Among these studies we have not found devoted czuciowo-ruchowej changes cortex of rats subarachnoid hemorrhage.

Material And Methods: The study was conducted on 18 white rats weighing 220-310 g.

[Laryngotracheitis, recurrent laryngotracheitis and asthma in children: features of ontogenesis and feeding in the first months of life].

Unlabelled: Objective of research was to study features of ontogenesis and feeding in the first months of life in children with laryngotracheitis (LT), recurrent laryngotracheitis (RLT) and asthma.

Methods: Questionnaire-based survey was performed to collect data on anamnesis of 1004 children aged 6-14 years (575 children with a history of LT, 60 children with asthma, and 369 children of control group) pertaining to preeclampsia in mothers, history of birth asphyxia, preterm birth and feeding during the first months of life in children. Children with LT were divided into two groups: 458 children with 1-3 episodes of LT and 117 children with RLT (4 or more episodes of LT).

Formation of Surface Corrosion-Resistant Nanocrystalline Structures on Steel.

Engineering materials with nanocrystalline structure could be exploited under simultaneous action of mechanical loading and corrosion environments; therefore, their corrosion resistance is important. Surface nanocrystalline structure was generated on middle carbon steels by severe plastic deformation using the method of mechanical pulse friction treatment. [Functional morphology of ischemic cardiomyopathy].

Objective: To show that ischemic cardiomyopathy (ICM) that is generally believed to be a variant of chronic heart disease (CHD) and an analogue of chronic heart failure is an initial stage and the background of all further forms of CHD.

Subjects And Methods: Sixty cardiac biopsies obtained from patients during aortocoronary bypass surgery for CHD and myocardia from 55 rabbits in which the investigators simulated atherosclerosis over time, as well as acute, transient, and recurrent coronary insufficiency after vasopressin administration were examined. A number of adequate histological, histochemical, and immunohistological procedures, electron microscopic and electron histochemical studies, and morphometry were employed.

Our experience with telemedicine in traumatology and orthopedics.

Background: Telemedicine widely takes root in all branches of modern medicine including traumatology and orthopedics. The main goal of this work was to present our experience with asynchronic teleconsultation in daily clinical practice, in particular in the treatment of polytrauma patients.

Methods: Throughout 2000 and 2003, we carried out 144 teleconsultations for 92 men and 52 women (age range three months to 80 years).

[Effect of cumulus and granulosa cells on meiosis resumption in murine oocytes in vitro].

Effects of different follicular cell types on resumption of meiosis were studied. Cumulus enclosed oocytes (CEO), denuded oocytes (DO), cumulus cells (CCs) and mural granulosa cells (GCs) were used. Oocytes were obtained from mature gonadotrophin-stimulated and unstimulated mice.

[The postradiation use of vitamin-containing complexes and a phycocyanin extract in a radiation lesion in rats].

Wistar rats have been exposed to X-rays with a dose of 5 Gy. [Helminths in the small mammals of Zakarpats'ka Province (the eastern Carpathians, Ukraine)].

935 specimens of small mammals (21 species) from the Transcarpathian Province of Ukraine were examined to check a helminth infection. 666 animals (71.2%) were infected with 44 parasite species belonging to 22 families of 4 classes: Trematoda (7 species), Cestoda (18), Nematoda (18) and Acanthocephala (1).

[The impact of the intravenous He-Ne laser therapy on the antioxidant system in patient with stable exertion angina and postinfarct cardiosclerosis].

The authors' study show that intravenous He-Ne laser therapy (HNLT) in patients with stable angina of effort (functional class II-III) and postinfarction cardiosclerosis irrespective of ejection fraction increased plasma katalase and red cell vitamin A concentrations. HNLT aroused vitamin E concentration in red cells in anginal patients with intact ejection fraction whereas in those with reduced ejection fraction it elevated blood peroxidase, plasma vitamin A and E concentrations. For patients with postinfarction cardiosclerosis there were, respectively, higher levels of blood peroxidase, plasmic vitamin A, red cell vitamin E, plasmic SH-groups and blood peroxidase, plasmic vitamins A and E.

[Hyperglycemia in patients with purulent conditions].

Basing on their rich clinical and experimental experience the authors conclude that hyperglycemia in purulent conditions results from receptors insufficiency of somatic cells membranes which arises due to either their block or destruction by endotoxicosis factors which are likely to be of leukocytic nature. Early cleansing of the purulent focus and detoxication provide normalization of the carbohydrate metabolism.
