Background: Inflammatory markers play a pivotal role in schizophrenia, as they provide insight into the neuroinflammatory processes occurring in the context of the disorder. Elevated levels of these markers, particularly C-reactive protein (CRP), can indicate an underlying immune system dysregulation, potentially influencing symptom severity and progression. Recognizing these markers has led to investigate the use of probiotics as an adjuvant to improve the treatment of schizophrenia.

Challenges and considerations in liposomal hydrogels for the treatment of infection.

Introduction: Liposomal hydrogels are novel drug delivery systems that comprise preformed liposomes incorporated in hydrogels destined for mostly localized drug therapy, herewith antimicrobial therapy. The formulation benefits from versatility of liposomes as lipid-based nanocarriers that enable delivery of various antimicrobials of different lipophilicities, and secondary vehicle, hydrogel, that assures better retention time of formulation at the infection site. Especially in an era of alarming antimicrobial resistance, efficient localized antimicrobial therapy that avoids systemic exposure of antimicrobial and related side effects is crucial.

Development of a PROM to measure patient-centredness in chronic care consultations in primary care.

Introduction: Validated patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) are crucial for assessing patients' experiences in the healthcare system. Both clinically and theoretically, patient-centered consultations are essential in patient-care, and are often suggested as the optimal strategy in caring for patients with multimorbidity.

Aim: To either identify or develop and validate a patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) to assess patient-centredness in consultations for patients with multimorbidity in general practice.

Patients' Use of e-Consultations as an Alternative to Other General Practitioner Services: Cross-Sectional Survey Study.

Background: e-Consultations, defined as asynchronous text-based messaging, have transformed how patients interact with their general practitioner (GP). While e-consultations can improve patient access to GP care, concerns about increased workload for GPs are raised.

Objective: This study aimed to address three research questions: (1) For what purpose and with what expectations do patients initiate e-consultations? (2) If e-consultations had not been available, what alternative actions would the patient have taken? and (3) How are the alternative actions associated with patient and e-consultation characteristics?

Risk factors for all-cause mortality during the COVID-19 pandemic compared with the pre-pandemic period in an adult population of Arkhangelsk, Russia.

We investigated and compared mortality rates and risk factors for pre-pandemic and pandemic all-cause mortality in a population-based cohort of men and women in Arkhangelsk, Russia. A prospective cohort study enrolled 2,324 participants aged 35 to 69 years between 2015 and 2017. All participants were followed up for all-cause deaths using the mortality registry.

'Stuck or unstable': partnerships between GPs and patients with complex chronic conditions. A qualitative study.

Background: In chronic care, patient-GP collaboration is essential, but might be challenging if patients have complex health problems due to multimorbidity, psychosocial predicaments and addiction problems. Specialized Sexual Assault Centers (SACs) in Norway offers psychosocial support, however, this support varies across SACs and its efficacy has not been researched. The Early Intervention after Rape (EIR) study is a multisite randomized controlled trial designed to assess the efficacy and effectiveness of training SAC nurses and social workers to deliver a modified version of prolonged exposure therapy shortly after rape.

Limestone (LS) and stabilised secondary spruce chips (SCs) utilisation in wood-cement composites is still an unexplored area. Therefore, the main objective of the research presented here is the assessment of the long-term behaviour of cement-bonded particleboards (CBPs) modified by LS and SCs. Cement (CE) was replaced by 10% of LS, and spruce chips by 7% of SCs.

Non-classical MHC class I genes which, compared to classical MHC class I, are typically less polymorphic and have more restricted expression patterns are attracting interest because of their potential to regulate immune responses to various pathogens. In salmonids, among the numerous non-classical MHC class I genes identified to date, L lineage genes, including Sasa- and , are differentially induced in response to microbial challenges. In the present study, we show that while transcription of both and are induced in response to SAV3 infection the transcriptional induction patterns are distinct for each gene.

Evaluating seagrass lipid biomarkers as indicator for organic carbon provenance and storage capacity in Zostera marina (L.) sediments.

Seagrass meadows are vital blue carbon habitats, with sedimentary organic carbon (OC) originating from both the seagrass itself and external sources. In this study, lipid biomarkers (n-alkanes), a well-known proxy for tracing OC sources, were used to indicate seagrass presence in sediment records and to correlate with sedimentary OC in cold-temperate seagrass (Zostera marina) sediments. We calculated a Zostera-ratio (seagrass/algae and terrestrial plants-ratio) using identified seagrass biomass n-alkanes (C, C, C, C, C) as a fingerprint for seagrass-derived OC.

Negotiating Normalcy: Epistemic Errors in Self-Diagnosing Late-ADHD.

In this paper, I share insights from ongoing ethnographic fieldwork among adult Danes who identify as having Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) but do not meet the clinical standards and have yet to receive a diagnosis. These individuals are particularly relevant to the ongoing debates about under- and overdiagnosis of ADHD, as their claims to the diagnosis influence and mirror societal perceptions of what is considered normal and what is seen as a condition. Despite their symptoms not strictly meeting diagnostic criteria, thus risking overdiagnosis and associated psychiatric labeling, they perceive themselves as distinct from 'normal' people.

Curvilinear incidence models for parity in the entire fertility range for cancers of the breast, ovary, and endometrium: A follow-up of the Norwegian 1960 Census.

The protective effect of parity has been demonstrated for cancer of the breast, ovary, and endometrium but no studies have estimated the effect of each subsequent birth in women with 10 or more children or grand-grand parity women, nor compared the linear relationship of the three cancers sites. Here, we aim to explore these relationships based on the Norwegian 1960 Census. The question of parity in present marriage was answered by 385,816 women born 1870-1915, a period with high fertility.

Pre-diagnostic 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels and subsite-specific colorectal cancer risk: A nested case-control study from the Norwegian Women and Cancer Study (NOWAC).

Colorectal cancer, the third most common cancer globally, causes over 900,000 deaths annually. Although vitamin D is observed to have potential anti-carcinogenic properties, research findings on its preventable effect against colorectal cancer remain inconclusive. Benzodiazepine agonist treatment for patients with benzodiazepine dependence undergoing opioid agonist treatment: a study protocol for the randomized controlled trial BMX-BAR.

Background: There is a lack of knowledge on effective treatment methods for comorbid benzodiazepine dependence in populations undergoing opioid agonist treatment (OAT). Tapering and discontinuation of benzodiazepines has long been considered the standard treatment, even though there is limited evidence for this practice. There is also limited research on benzodiazepine agonist treatment; however, peer and clinical experiences indicate that such approaches may be beneficial for a subgroup of the patients with long-lasting benzodiazepine dependence not responding to other treatment approaches.

Vitality insights of fish escaping from a sorting grid installed on a bottom trawl net.

Sorting grids to exclude the juveniles of species targeted by bottom trawl fisheries from the catch are among the most promising solutions to reduce discards. We tested a two-sections Juveniles' Sorting Grid (JSG) in a Mediterranean fisheries restricted area. First, we provided information on the vitality of individuals escaping from the JSG bars during towing, by analysing underwater footage.
