In this study we aimed to investigate epidermal growth factor (EGF), interleukin (IL1)-α and IL-6 levels, and hematological parameters in the serum samples of patients with chronic cholesteatomatous otitis media (CCOM). This prospective included 40 patients who underwent surgery due to CCOM between June 2020 and May 2021. The stage of middle ear cholesteatoma was determined on each chart using the EAONO/JOS system.

Background: Fear of missing out (FoMO) is a kind of anxiety that arises from FoMO on rewarding online social experiences that others might be having. Recent studies demonstrated that there is a strong relationship between FoMO and problematic smartphone use (PSU). In this study, we aimed to address the relationship between age, gender, psychiatric symptoms, PSU, and FoMO among a clinical-based adolescent sample.

Findings of ocular examinations in healthy full-term newborns.

Purpose: To assess the anterior and posterior segments of full-term neonates over a 1.5-year period.

Methods: The findings of full-term neonates who underwent ophthalmological examinations between June 2019 and December 2020 were analyzed, and the results were retrospectively recorded.

Background: The first aim of this study was to compare the clinical data and posterior fossa morphometry obtained during the admission to the hospital between control group individuals (who had not Chiari Malformation (CM) type 1) and CM type 1 patients treated surgically or not. The second aim was to create a valid and reliable scale that can predict the decision-making for surgical intervention simply and easily in these patients.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the treatment trends and the factors influencing the treatment methods of Orthopaedic Surgeons in closed, isolated, middle-third diaphyseal long bone fractures without any neurovascular injury in children.

Methods: This was a cross-sectional electronic survey of Turkish Orthopaedic Surgeons who were active members of the Turkish Society of Children's Orthopaedics (TSCO) and still managing the children's fractures in their daily clinical practice. An initial e-mail including the electronic survey followed by three reminder e-mails was sent to 110 members, and then reminder telephone calls were made.

Real-Life Experience Regarding Clinical Characteristics and Treatment Outcome in Non-Cutaneous Peripheral T-Cell Lymphomas: A Multicenter Study of the Turkish Hematology Research and Education Group (ThREG).

Objective: Peripheral T-cell lymphomas (PTCLs) are an uncommon and quite heterogeneous group of disorders, representing only 10%-15% of all non-Hodgkin lymphomas. Although both molecular and clinical studies have increased in recent years, we still have little knowledge regarding real-life practice with PTCLs. In this study, we aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics and treatment outcomes of a large population-based cohort of patients presenting with systemic non-cutaneous PTCL.

Differentiation of memory processing stages and effect of demographic variables with alternative scoring approaches to the Rey auditory verbal learning test.

Background: The Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test (RAVLT) is the third most popular verbal memory test and the tenth most frequently used neuropsychological test. The original scoring system of RAVLT does not differentiate stages of memory processing, but a recently developed composite scoring system has this potential. The objectives were to compare the two systems in terms of their capacity to differentiate the stages of memory processing and to study the effect of demographic variables on the learning trials (T) of the Turkish form of RAVLT (T-RAVLT).

Does alpha-1-acid glycoprotein determine for infertility in polycystic ovary syndrome?

Objectives: The underlying cause of metabolic abnormalities and ovarian dysfunction in PCOS is thought to be chronic low-grade inflammation. This study aimed to show whether alpha-1-acid glycoprotein (AGP), an inflammatory marker, predicts the risk of infertility in fertile and infertile women with PCOS. Our study had a cros-sectional case-control design.

Evaluation of plasma cholecystokinin levels and gallbladder functions in hyperemesis gravidarum: a prospective cohort study.

This is a prospective cohort study aimed to compare women treated due to hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) ( = 24) to women with normal pregnancy attending regular antenatal outpatient care ( = 22) in terms of fasting and post-prandial cholecystokinin (CCK) levels, and gallbladder (GB) functions. The Pregnancy-Unique Quantification of Emesis (PUQE) scores, fasting and postprandial CCK levels, and ultrasonographic GB parameters were recorded at admission before any treatment. The median PUQE score in the study group was 8.

Examining the expression levels of ferroptosis-related genes in angiographically determined coronary artery disease patients.

Background: Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death worldwide, with several conditions being affected by oxidative stress. Ferroptosis, recently identified programmed cell death mechanism, is relies on oxidative stress. This study aimed to determine the expressions of the genes involved in the molecular pathways of oxidative stress and ferroptosis and the association of these genes with CAD risk factors in CAD and non-CAD individuals.

Purpose: Voice disorders are frequently seen among teachers. Intense and inappropriate use of the voice is the most frequent reason. In the literature, studies supporting the positive effect of voice hygiene behaviors to the voice in teachers exist.

A New Risk-Scoring System for Colorectal Cancer and Polyp Screening by Turkish Colorectal Cancer and Polyp Study Group.

Background: Colorectal cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed types of cancer worldwide. An early diagnosis and detection of colon cancer and polyp can reduce mortality and morbidity from colorectal cancer. Even though there are a variety of options in screen- ing tests, the question remains on which test is the most effective for the early detection of colorectal cancer.

A Meta-Analysis of the Relationships Between Emotional Intelligence and Employee Outcomes.

Emotional intelligence is an emerging field since the 1990s due to its important outcomes for employees. This study is a psychometric meta-analysis examining the links between emotional intelligence and organizational commitment, organizational citizenship behavior, job satisfaction, job performance, and job stress of employees. In this meta-analysis, carefully selected studies on emotional intelligence since the origin of the concept in 1990 were included along with studies examining its outcomes.

Retrospective Evaluation of Ingrown Toenails in a Tertiary Reference Center.

Background: We evaluated the clinical characteristics of ingrown toenails in one of the biggest reference centers in Turkey.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study was conducted on patients admitted to Ufuk University Hospital with ingrown toenail between January 1, 2014, and December 31, 2019. Clinical characterstics and demographic features of all of the participants were evaluated, and then the study population was divided into two groups: group 1 (patients ≤20 years old) and group 2 (patients >20 years old).

Background: Psoriasis is a chronic, inflammatory skin disease that is common in both adult and childhood. Patients with psoriasis are at significant risk for the development of many comorbid conditions, including cardiovascular diseases.

Objectives: We aimed to investigate the cardiovascular risk status and serum lipid parameters in patients with psoriasis and to determine the risk of cardiovascular disease by atherogenic indices obtained accordingly.
