Myocardial infarction (MI) is a multifactorial polygenic disease that develops as a result of a complex interaction of numerous genetic factors and the external environment. Accordingly, the contribution of each of them separately is usually not large and may significantly depend on the state of other accompanying factors. The purpose of the study was to search for informative predictors of MI risk based on polygenic analysis of polymorphic variants of (1) the antioxidant defense enzyme genes PON1 (rs662), PON2 (rs7493), CAT (rs1001179), MSRA (rs10098474) and GSTP1 (rs1695); (2) the apoptosis genes CASP8 (rs3834129), TP53 (rs1042522) and BCL2 (rs12454712); and (3) the inflammation genes CRP (rs1205), CX3CR1 (rs3732378), IL6 (rs1800795) and CCL2 (rs1024611).

This paper proposes a method for synthesizing granular ZSM-23 zeolite with a high degree of crystallinity and hierarchical porous structure. This method is based on crystallizing granules composed of powdered ZSM-23 zeolite and a specially prepared amorphous aluminosilicate. It has been shown that these granules have superior mechanical strength compared to granular zeolite-containing materials, which are made from a mixture of ZSM-23 zeolite crystals and AlO.

Currently, pJP4 is one of the best-known plasmids for the biodegradation of xenobiotics that mediate the degradation of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D), which is associated with serious health and environmental risks. Although the sequencing and proposed theory of pJP4 formation occurred almost 20 years ago (2004), pJP4 is still the model object of many studies focused on the biodegradation of 2,4-D. The uniqueness of this plasmid is due to the presence of two evolutionarily distinct gene clusters, and , controlling the degradation of 2,4-D.

Little information is available on how rhizosphere bacteria affect abscisic acid (ABA) levels in plants and whether these bacterial effects are associated with improved plant water status. In this study, we tested the hypothesis that the stimulation of plant growth may be associated with the ability of ABA to increase the hydraulic conductivity of roots through the up-regulation of aquaporin. To do this, we studied the effect of bacteria capable of producing ABA on a barley mutant deficient in this hormone.

A quantum theory of spin dynamics in the rare-earth orthoferrites excited by terahertz laser pulses is developed. The study demonstrates that dynamic magnetic configurations, triggered by a light pulse, exhibit stability even after the excitation source is ceased. The magnitude of post-excitation oscillations is linked to the ratio between the frequency of rare-earth ion excitations and the frequency of the external source.

Low-energy (0-14 eV) resonance electron interaction and fragment species produced by dissociative electron attachment (DEA) for enantiomeric forms of glutamic acid (Glu) are studied under gas-phase conditions by means of DEA spectroscopy and density functional theory calculations. Contrary to a series of amino acids studied earlier employing the DEA technique, the most abundant species are not associated with the elimination of a hydrogen atom from the parent molecular negative ion. Besides this less intense closed-shell [Glu - H]- fragment, only two mass-selected negative ions, [Glu - 19]- and [Glu - 76]-, are detected within the same electron energy region, with the yield maximum observed at around 0.

Natural compounds, including diterpenoids, play a critical role in various biological processes and are recognized as valuable components in cancer treatment. Isocyanides multicomponent reactions (IsMCRs) are one of the effective methods to obtain adducts at the carboxyl group with a peptide-like substituent. In this study, dehydroabietic acid and levopimaric acid diene adducts as the starting scaffolds were modified by the multicomponent Passerini (P-3CR) and Ugi (U-4CR) reactions to afford α-acyloxycarboxamides and α-acylaminocarboxamides.

Electron transfer plays a crucial role in living systems, including the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Oxygen acts as the terminal electron acceptor in the respiratory chains of aerobic organisms as well as in some photoinduced processes followed by the formation of ROS. This is why the participation of exogenous antioxidants in electron transfer processes in living systems is of particular interest.

The adaption of plants to stressful environments depends on long-distance responses in plant organs, which themselves are remote from sites of perception of external stimuli. Jasmonic acid (JA) and its derivatives are known to be involved in plants' adaptation to salinity. However, to our knowledge, the transport of JAs from roots to shoots has not been studied in relation to the responses of shoots to root salt treatment.
