Introduction: Unilateral congenital high airway obstruction syndrome (CHAOS) is caused by a complete obstruction of a mainstem bronchus with resulting hyperinflation and accelerated growth of one lung, severe mediastinal shift, and hydrops. Spontaneous perforation of the atresia has been observed in CHAOS which allows hydrops to resolve but hyperinflation, mediastinal shift and a critical airway obstruction persists as the perforation is usually pinhole-sized.

Case Presentation: We present a case of unilateral CHAOS presenting at 26 2/7 weeks with observed-to-expected total lung volume (O/E TLV) of 203% with spontaneous perforation occurring at 28 weeks with resolution of hydrops but persistence of hyperinflation and mediastinal shift with an O/E TLV of 60.

This study describes a protocol for the multiplex in situ hybridization (ISH) of the mouse jugular-nodose ganglia, with a particular emphasis on detecting the expression of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). Formalin-fixed jugular-nodose ganglia were processed with the RNAscope technology to simultaneously detect the expression of two representative GPCRs (cholecystokinin and ghrelin receptors) in combination with one marker gene of either nodose (paired-like homeobox 2b, Phox2b) or jugular afferent neurons (PR domain zinc finger protein 12, Prdm12). Labeled ganglia were imaged using confocal microscopy to determine the distribution and expression patterns of the aforementioned transcripts.

Efficient therapeutic options are needed to control the spread of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) that has caused more than 922,000 fatalities as of 13 September 2020. We report the isolation and characterization of two ultrapotent SARS-CoV-2 human neutralizing antibodies (S2E12 and S2M11) that protect hamsters against SARS-CoV-2 challenge. Cryo-electron microscopy structures show that S2E12 and S2M11 competitively block angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) attachment and that S2M11 also locks the spike in a closed conformation by recognition of a quaternary epitope spanning two adjacent receptor-binding domains.

The need for cardiopulmonary resuscitation in newborns is quite rare, as most non-vigorous infants respond well to effective ventilation. For the minority of babies who do not respond to adequate ventilation, chest compressions are necessary using the preferred two thumb technique. Since effective ventilation remains a key component to successful resuscitation, chest compressions are coordinated with ventilations in a 3:1 ratio.

Purpose: Commotio cordis is sudden cardiac death caused by a relatively innocent blow to the left chest wall. Adolescents account for the majority of the cases; whether this is due to the higher frequency of adolescents playing ball sports or whether there is some maturational reduction of risk is not known.

Methods: In a swine model of commotio cordis, the effect of body weight/size (directly related to age) to the susceptibility of chest impact-induced ventricular fibrillation (VF) is examined.
