Objectives: Previous research demonstrated that the numerical Cincinnati Prehospital Stroke Scale (CPSS) identifies large vessel occlusion (LVO) at similar rates compared to dedicated LVO screening tools. We aimed to compare numerical CPSS to additional stroke scales using a national Emergency Medical Services (EMS) database.
Methods: Using the ESO Data Collaborative, the largest EMS database with linked hospital data, we retrospectively analyzed prehospital patient records from 2022.

We present a case of a three-month-old male who presented with a cervical esophageal duplication cyst requiring early surgical intervention. The patient presented with feeding difficulties, poor weight gain, and respiratory distress. Due to the position of the cervical esophageal duplication cyst and airway compression, this unique case required a multidisciplinary surgical approach involving both otolaryngology and cardiothoracic surgery.

Background: Ki67 index (KI) and mitotic index (MI) are proliferation markers with established prognostic value in breast carcinomas. While KI is evaluated immunohistochemically and reported as a percentage, MI is determined visually and reflects total mitotic cells in 10 high-power fields. Our objective was to integrate KI and MI into a novel metric; the cell cycle traverse rate (CCTR).

A number of policies mandate that autistic transition-age youth receive employment services to prepare for the workforce before high school graduation. A key limitation to these services is the job interview component, which relies on non-standardized, resource-intensive, staff-led role-plays to help autistic transition-age youth improve their interview skills. The autism community has called for better job interview preparation.

Modern advances in systemic and localized therapies for patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC) have significantly improved patients' outcomes. If disease progression occurs after initial treatment, clinicians often have multiple options for a first salvage therapy. Because salvage and initial treatments both may affect overall survival time, and they may interact in unanticipated ways, there is a growing need to determine sequences of initial therapy and first salvage therapy that maximize overall survival while maintaining quality of life.

The risk of developing cervical cancer is not equal across populations-individual health history, economic, political, and societal factors influence cervical cancer risk. Certain health conditions, including human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection, immunosuppression, and history of high-grade cervical dysplasia, are associated with higher cervical cancer risk and warrant distinct screening, surveillance, and management guidelines. It is imperative for clinicians to recognize high-risk groups and apply appropriate corresponding guidelines.

Hemolysis is a pathological shortening of the red blood cell lifespan. When hemolysis occurs in a neonate, hazardous hyperbilirubinemia and severe anemia could result. Hemolysis can be diagnosed, and its severity quantified, by the non-invasive measurement of carbon monoxide (CO) in exhaled breath.

Purpose: The etiopathogenesis of coronal nonsyndromic craniosynostosis (cNCS), a congenital condition defined by premature fusion of 1 or both coronal sutures, remains largely unknown.
Methods: We conducted the largest genome-wide association study of cNCS followed by replication, fine mapping, and functional validation of the most significant region using zebrafish animal model.
Results: Genome-wide association study identified 6 independent genome-wide-significant risk alleles, 4 on chromosome 7q21.
