Objective: This study aimed to describe the demand for, supply of, and clinic processes associated with behavioral health care delivery in the Military Health System and to examine the clinic-level factors associated with receipt of a minimally adequate dosage of psychotherapy.
Methods: This retrospective study used administrative behavioral health data from eight military treatment facilities (N=25,433 patients; N=241,028 encounters) that were participating in a larger implementation study of evidence-based psychotherapy for posttraumatic stress disorder. Minimally adequate dosage of psychotherapy was defined in two ways: at least three sessions within a 90-day period and at least six sessions within a 90-day period.

Introduction: Disease and non-battle injury (DNBI) has historically been the leading casualty type among service members in warfare and a leading health problem confronting military personnel, resulting in significant loss of manpower. Studies show a significant increase in disease burden for DNBI when compared to combat-related injuries. Understanding the causes of and trends in DNBI may help guide efforts to develop preventive measures and help increase medical readiness and resiliency.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) cells are often resistant to FAS (CD95)-mediated apoptosis, but the underlying molecular mechanism(s) is not fully understood yet. Notably, the expression of the type II transmembrane protein, CD74, is correlated with chemotherapy-resistant and more invasive forms of cancers via unknown mechanisms. Here, we analyzed gene expression pattern of cancer patients and/or patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models and found that mRNA and protein levels of CD74 are highly expressed in TNBC and correlated with cancer stem cells (CSCs) and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) properties.

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common disorder that affects quality of life and is associated with comorbidities such as hypertension, atrial fibrillation, heart failure, coronary heart disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and stroke. OSA is characterized by a reduction or cessation of breathing during sleep, resulting in intermittent hypoxemia, autonomic fluctuation, and sleep fragmentation. The U.

Radiation induced cholecystitis is a known but rare complication of Yttrium90 (Y90) radioembolization of hepatic tumors due to nontarget embolization. Many documented cases of radiation induced cholecystitis have been treated with cholecystectomy, which is significant given the typical patient population undergoing radioembolization tends to be of higher surgical risk. Here, we present a case of a 68 year old male who developed radiation induced cholecystitis status post hepatic radioembolization that resolved with conservative management alone.

A spontaneous adrenal hemorrhage is a rare complication occurring in the setting of interventional radiology procedures. Here, we present the case of a 73-year-old male who underwent CT-guided drainage of a periduodenal collection. During the procedure, he developed sudden onset left back pain and hypertension, which revealed a left adrenal gland hemorrhage on CT imaging.

Background: Increasing demands to generate, translate, and implement evidence into practice in manpower and budget-constrained environments triggered innovative support for the nursing scientific community. The Clinical Inquiry in Nursing Readiness (CINR) fellowship is a solution to integrate readiness into clinical inquiry priorities and develop future experts in the field.
Methods: This article describes the fellowship program structure, implementation, and contributions to nursing science, readiness, and professional development.

Purpose: Real-world data (RWD) are pervasive in oncology research and offer insights into clinical trends and patient outcomes. However, RWD have shortcomings, making them prone to pitfalls during survival analyses. The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) CancerLinQ Discovery (CLQD) multiple myeloma (MM) data set was used to demonstrate some common pitfalls when analyzing survival from RWD: using incorrect surrogate markers for missing data and/or classification errors, ignoring deaths at time zero, and failing to account for guarantee-time bias.

Stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR) is a standard-of-care for medically-inoperable-early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). One third of patients progress and chemotherapy is rarely used in this population. We questioned if addition of the immune-checkpoint-inhibitor (ICI) atezolizumab to standard-of-care SABR can improve outcomes.

Background: Multiple myeloma (MM) is exceedingly rare in adolescents and young adults (AYAs) < 45 years of age.
Methods: Real-world data from ASCO's CancerLinQ Discovery (CLQD) MM dataset and SEER were utilized to characterize demographics and outcomes of AYA MM patients in the United States in the modern treatment era. Frequencies of SPMs, VTEs, and infections were assessed, as were OS and cause of death.
Clinicians may confuse an impaired sensitivity to thyroid hormone with hyperthyroidism and offer an inappropriate treatment. We report a diagnosis of resistance to thyroid hormone (RTH) caused by a rare mutation in the thyroid hormone receptor beta gene in a patient previously presumed to have Graves' disease. We have found only one published case of a novel point mutation, c.

Health behaviors may be core contributors to cognition and mental health following mild traumatic brain injury (TBI). The aims of the present study examined: (1) whether health behaviors including sleep duration, alcohol use, and physical activity differed in injured military personnel with and without deployment-related mild TBI history and (2) the relative contributions of health behaviors and deployment-related mild TBI history to self-reported cognitive, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and depressive symptoms. Participants included 3076 military personnel injured on deployment participating in the Wounded Warrior Recovery Project, an ongoing web-based study.

The advent of COVID-19, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, has resulted in over 541 million cases with 6.32 million deaths worldwide as of June 2022. The devastating consequences of this global pandemic resulted in the expedited generation of mRNA-based vaccines such as the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines.

SKP2, an F-box protein of the SCF type of the E3 ubiquitin ligase complex, plays an important function in driving tumorigenesis through the destruction of numerous tumor-suppressive proteins. Besides its critical role in cell cycle regulation, proto-oncogenic functions of SKP2 have also been shown in a cell cycle regulation-independent manner. Therefore, uncovering novel physiological upstream regulators of SKP2 signaling pathways would be essential to retard aggressive malignancies.

Background: Rheumatoid arthritis is a debilitating and destructive disease for which limited therapeutic options exist.
Objective: This report summarizes serial magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings from nine study participants treated with hyperbaric oxygen (HBO2) therapy and expands upon an earlier pilot study that showed improvement in disease activity and joint pain as determined by multiple, validated clinical measures.
Methods: Rheumatoid arthritis patients received 30 hyperbaric oxygen treatments over six to 10 weeks.

Background: During the initial phase of the pandemic, we identified a critical gap in the Military Health System's access to palliative care. Our team of nurse scientists and evidence-based practice (EBP) facilitators aimed to develop and implement an evidence-based point of care palliative care toolkit for frontline workers in inpatient settings lacking established palliative care specialists.
Methodology: We utilized Melnyk and Fineout-Overholt's (2018) seven-step EBP process.
