Although the field of psychiatry has made gains in biomarker discovery, our ability to change long-term outcomes remains inadequate. Matching individuals to the best treatment for them is a persistent clinical challenge. Moreover, the development of novel treatments has been hampered in part due to a limited understanding of the biological mechanisms underlying individual differences that contribute to clinical heterogeneity.

External codes for multiple unicast networks via interference alignment.

We introduce a formal framework to study the multiple unicast problem for a coded network in which the network code is linear over a finite field and fixed. We show that the problem corresponds to an interference alignment problem over a finite field. In this context, we establish an outer bound for the achievable rate region and provide examples of networks where the bound is sharp.

Background: The 2021 update to the Infectious Diseases Society of America infection (CDI) guidelines recommended fidaxomicin as the preferred treatment over vancomycin for patients with initial and recurrent CDI. Few studies have examined how treatment patterns and clinical outcomes of hospitalized CDI patients changed after the postguideline update or contemporary real-world outcomes of fidaxomicin vs vancomycin.

Methods: This retrospective, observational study used the PINC AI Healthcare Database on adult patients who received CDI treatment between 1/2020 and 6/2021 (pre period) and between 10/2021 and 9/2022 (post period).

Background: Scientific publications have been growing exponentially, contributing to an oversaturated information environment. Quantifying a research output's impact and reach cannot be solely measured by traditional metrics like citation counts as these have a lag time and are largely focused on an academic audience. There is increasing recognition to consider 'alternative metrics' or altmetrics to measure more immediate and broader impacts of research.

Standardization through education of molecular pathology: a spotlight on the European Masters in Molecular Pathology.

Despite advancements in precision medicine, many cancer patients globally, particularly those in resource-constrained environments, face significant challenges in accessing high-quality molecular testing and targeted therapies. The considerable heterogeneity in molecular testing highlights the urgent need to harmonize practices across Europe and beyond, establishing a more standardized and consistent approach in MP laboratories. Professionals, especially molecular pathologists, must move beyond traditional education to cope with this heterogeneity.

A recent generalization of the Erdős Unit Distance Problem, proposed by Palsson, Senger, and Sheffer, asks for the maximum number of unit distance paths with a given number of vertices in the plane and in 3-space. Studying a variant of this question, we prove sharp bounds on the number of unit distance paths and cycles on the sphere of radius . We also consider a similar problem about 3-regular unit distance graphs in  .

Safety of dostarlimab in combination with chemotherapy in patients with primary advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer in a phase III, randomized, placebo-controlled trial (ENGOT-EN6-NSGO/GOG-3031/RUBY).

Background: In Part 1 of the phase III RUBY trial (NCT03981796) in patients with primary advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer (EC), dostarlimab plus carboplatin-paclitaxel (CP) significantly improved progression-free survival and overall survival compared with CP alone. Orthopaedic researchers need new strategies for engaging diverse students. Our field has demonstrated noticeable gaps in racial, ethnic, and gender diversity, which inhibit our ability to innovate and combat the severe socioeconomic burden of musculoskeletal disorders. Towards this goal, we designed, implemented, and evaluated Learning on a Limb, an orthopaedic research outreach module to teach diverse high school students about orthopaedic research.

Review of machine learning for lipid nanoparticle formulation and process development.

Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) are a subset of pharmaceutical nanoparticulate formulations designed to encapsulate, stabilize, and deliver nucleic acid cargoes in vivo. Applications for LNPs include new interventions for genetic disorders, novel classes of vaccines, and alternate modes of intracellular delivery for therapeutic proteins. In the pharmaceutical industry, establishing a robust formulation and process to achieve target product performance is a critical component of drug development.

Pneumococcal vaccines are a cornerstone for the prevention of pneumococcal diseases, reducing morbidity and mortality in children and adults worldwide. Pneumococcal vaccine composition is based on the polysaccharide capsule of , which is one of the most important identified contributors to the pathogen's virulence. Similarities in the structural composition of polysaccharides included in licensed pneumococcal vaccines may result in cross-reactivity of immune response against closely related serotypes, including serotypes not included in the vaccine.
