With the improvement of integration levels to several nanometers or less, semiconductor leakage current has become an important issue, and oxide-based semiconductors, which have replaced Si-based channel layer semiconductors, have attracted attention. Herein, we fabricated capacitors with a metal-insulator-semiconductor-metal structure using HfO thin films deposited at 240 °C and TiO thin films deposited at 300 °C via remote plasma (RP) and direct plasma (DP) atomic layer deposition and analyzed the effects of the charge-trapping and semiconducting properties of these films. Charge-trapping memory (CTM) devices with HfO (charge-trapping layer) and TiO (semiconductor) films were fabricated and characterized in terms of their memory properties.

Increasing evidence shows that the COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionately impacted certain populations, particularly those facing structural marginalization, such as immigrants and refugees. Additionally, research highlights that structurally marginalized populations living with chronic conditions, such as cancer and/or mental health and addiction (MH&A) disorders, are more vulnerable to the adverse effects of COVID-19. These individuals face higher susceptibility to infection and worse health outcomes, including increased rates of hospitalization, severe illness, and death.

This study investigates the association between mild first-wave COVID-19 infection and subclinical abnormalities in echocardiographic strain parameters and myocardial perfusion using single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). We conducted a retrospective analysis of patients from June 2020 to March 2021 with a history of mild first-wave COVID-19 infection, presenting with nonspecific cardiac symptoms and referred for SPECT myocardial perfusion stress testing. Patients had no obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD) on follow-up invasive angiography or cardiac computed tomography angiography (CCTA) and had transthoracic echocardiographic images of sufficient quality for strain analysis using AutoSTRAIN (TOMTEC).

Early intervention services are a critical support for young children experiencing developmental delays and disabilities. Due to myriad negative social and economic conditions, some infants and young children, namely Black, Indigenous, and other children of color, as well as those experiencing poverty, are at greater risk of experiencing a developmental delay or disability and experiencing issues of access to needed services and supports within and beyond early intervention programs. Due to these systemic issues, these infants and young children are more likely to have caregivers experiencing mental health concerns and issues of access to services and supports.

Examining the Impact of Pyramid Model Implementation to Deepen Social and Emotional Supports for Enrolled Children Within Early Intervention.

Healthcare (Basel)

February 2025

Parent, Infant, Early Childhood (PIEC) Program, Innovations Institute, University of Connecticut School of Social Work, 38 Prospect St, Hartford, CT 06103, USA.

Early social and emotional well-being is crucial for child development with life-long outcomes. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part C Early Intervention system, which federally mandates special education services for children ages birth to three, is one place where identifying and addressing early social emotional needs could be strengthened. Experiences of racial discrimination within the healthcare system are potentially traumatic events (PTEs) that have been associated with lowered perceived trust in healthcare providers, ongoing symptoms of PTSD and depression, and anticipated healthcare avoidance. Based on the BITTEN trauma impact model, we test a pathway such that greater past healthcare discrimination would be associated with anticipated future healthcare avoidance among BIPOC college students. We posited that this direct relationship would be sequentially mediated by healthcare institutional betrayal (HIB) during one's worst healthcare event and subsequently reduced trust in healthcare.
