Purpose: To characterize the anterior segment (AS) morphology of patients with long-term silicone oil (SiO) in situ (> 12 months) following pars plana vitrectomy (PPV).

Methods: This prospective, comparative characterization study was conducted between January 2022 and July 2023. Patients were included and sorted based on if they had undergone PPV without long-term SiO or had SiO in situ for at least 12 months at the time of review and image collection.

Characterizing the underlying microangiopathy of deep cerebellar intracerebral hemorrhage.

Introduction: While cerebral amyloid angiopathy is likely responsible for intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) occurring in superficial (grey matter, vermis) cerebellar locations, it is unclear whether hypertensive arteriopathy (HA), the other major cerebral small vessel disease (cSVD), is associated with cerebellar ICH (cICH) in deep (white matter, deep nuclei, cerebellar peduncle) regions. We tested the hypothesis that HA-associated neuroimaging markers are significantly associated with deep cICH compared to superficial cICH.

Patients And Methods: Brain MRI scans from consecutive non-traumatic cICH patients admitted to a referral center were analyzed for cSVD markers.

Cases for a disease can be defined broadly using diagnostic codes, or narrowly using gold-standard confirmation that often is not available in large administrative datasets. These different definitions can have significant impacts on the results and conclusions of studies. We conducted this study to assess how using melanoma phecodes versus histologic confirmation for invasive or in situ melanoma impacts the results of a genome-wide association study (GWAS) using the Million Veteran Program.

The diversity of natural killer cell functional and phenotypic states in cancer.

The role of natural killer (NK) cells as immune effectors is well established, as is their utility as immunotherapeutic agents against various cancers. However, NK cells' anti-cancer roles are suppressed in cancer patients by various immunomodulatory mechanisms which alter these cells' identity, function, and potential for immunosurveillance. This manifests in abnormal NK cell responses accompanied by changes in phenotypic or genotypic identity, giving rise to specific NK cell subsets that are either hypofunctional or, more broadly, defective in their responses.

Methods: Using Web of Science and PubMed databases, systematic reviews and meta-analyses comparing outcomes of biceps tenodesis and tenotomy were identified. Abstracts were evaluated for the nine most severe types of spin as described by Yavchitz et al.

Recent studies provide evidence of usage of plant-based diets rich in phytochemicals and their corelation to reduction in cancer incidence. Materials And Methods: Twenty-four low density synthetic femora modeling osteoporotic, intraarticular distal femur fractures with medial metaphyseal comminution were split into two fixation groups: (1) lateral locking distal femur plate (PA- plate alone) and (2) lateral locking distal femur plate with a 6.5 mm fully threaded medial cannulated screw (PWS- plate with screw).

Background: Inflammatory markers have been proposed as prognostic tools for predicting in-hospital mortality in infective endocarditis (IE). Nonetheless, it is unclear whether these markers provide additional prognostic value over established indicators.
