Catalysis activity and chemoselectivity control with the ligand in Ru-H pincer complexes.

Dalton Trans

January 2025

Division of Chemical and Biological Sciences, Ames National Laboratory, Ames, IA 50011, USA.

(PhPNP)Ru(H)(Cl)(CO) serves as a precatalyst to a variety of important catalytic transformations but most improvements have been restricted to the replacement of the CO ligand to the hydride or changing the Ph groups of the pincer for other aryl or alkyl groups. The ligand to the hydride is often another hydride and studies that utilize other ligands in catalysis are limited. In this work, we synthesized a series of [(PhPNP)Ru(H)(CO)(L)][BPh] complexes bearing isonitrile, PMe, or a N-heterocyclic ligand to the Ru-H.

Linking the macroscopic flow properties and nanoscopic structure is a fundamental challenge to understanding, predicting, and designing disordered soft materials. Under small stresses, these materials are soft solids, while larger loads can lead to yielding and the acquisition of plastic strain, which adds complexity to the task. In this work, we connect the transient structure and rheological memory of a colloidal gel under cyclic shearing across a range of amplitudes a generalized memory function using rheo-X-ray photon correlation spectroscopy (rheo-XPCS).

Invading species along with increased anthropogenization may lead to hybridization events between wild species and closely related domesticates. As a consequence, wild species may carry introgressed alleles from domestic species, which is generally assumed to yield adverse effects in wild populations. The opposite evolutionary consequence, adaptive introgression, where introgressed genes are positively selected in the wild species, is possible but has rarely been documented.

Many oncoproteins are important therapeutic targets because of their critical role in inducing rapid cell proliferation, which represents one of the salient hallmarks of cancer. Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) is a cancer of hematopoietic stem cells that is caused by the oncogene BCR-ABL1. BCR-ABL1 encodes a constitutively active tyrosine kinase protein that leads to the uncontrolled proliferation of myeloid cells, which is a hallmark of CML.

October 2024

Department of Biomedical Engineering, Yale University, New Haven, CT, USA.

Recent advancements in Contrastive Language-Image Pre-training (CLIP) [21] have demonstrated notable success in self-supervised representation learning across various tasks. However, the existing CLIP-like approaches often demand extensive GPU resources and prolonged training times due to the considerable size of the model and dataset, making them poor for medical applications, in which large datasets are not always common. Meanwhile, the language model prompts are mainly manually derived from labels tied to images, potentially overlooking the richness of information within training samples.

Background: It is increasingly recognized that policies played a role in mitigating or exacerbating health inequities during the COVID-19 pandemic. While US counties were particularly active in policymaking, limited work has characterized geographic and temporal variation in pandemic-era policymaking at the local level, a prerequisite for later studies examining the health effects of these policies. This paper fills this gap by characterizing county-level COVID-19-related policy trajectories over time using a novel national policy database and innovative methods.

Cerebral arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are tangles of abnormal vessels with early arteriovenous (AV) shunting that can lead to intracerebral hemorrhage, seizures, neurologic deficit, or headache. To date, only a few cases of carcinomas metastasizing to pre-existing cerebral AVMs have been reported in the literature. However, renal clear cell carcinoma (RCC) brain metastases that exhibit early AV shunting, where AVM pathology is not present, are extremely rare.
