Background: There are limited therapeutic options in cases of failed reperfusion (modified thrombolysis in cerebral infarction [mTICI] score < 2b) after stent-retriever and/or aspiration based endovascular treatment (EVT) for acute ischemic stroke. Despite the absence of data supporting its use, rescue therapy (balloon angioplasty and/or stent implantation) is often utilized in such cases. Studies are limited to large vessel occlusions, while the outcomes and complications after rescue therapy in medium/distal vessel occlusions (MDVOs) have not been reported.

Adapting one's speaking style is particularly crucial as children start interacting with diverse conversational partners in various communication contexts. The study investigated the capacity of preschool children aged 3-5 years ( = 28) to modify their speaking styles in response to background noise, referred to as noise-adapted speech, and when talking to an interlocutor who pretended to have hearing loss, referred to as clear speech. We examined how two modified speaking styles differed across the age range.

Weapon carrying and brandishing among youth is a serious public health issue. Recent data from the Centers for Disease Control's Youth Risk Behavior Survey suggests that as many as 1 in 15 male and 1 in 50 female students have carried a gun for nonrecreational purposes within the past 12 months. When examining weapon carrying more broadly, approximately one in eight adolescents report this behavior in the past 30 days alone.

Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk calculators estimate the 10-year incident risk of myocardial infarction (MI), coronary artery disease (CAD) death, or stroke; however, they lack comprehensiveness and accuracy. Carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) is a surrogate marker that may improve risk estimation acumen. The objective of this study was to derive ASCVD risk scores from historical data and determine whether these risk scores are associated with the history of subclinical CAD and CIMT.

Nowadays, consent to use donor bodies for medical education and research is obtained from the body donors and their families before the donation. Recently, the International Federation of Associations of Anatomists (IFAA) published guidelines that could restrict the appearance of cadaveric images in commercial anatomical resources such as textbooks and other educational products. These guidelines state that the donor must expressly consent to using such images for this purpose.

Background: Children who need to have major surgery or are critically ill often require the insertion of a central venous catheter (CVC). To avoid serious complications, it is important to correctly position the CVC tip at the junction of the distal superior vena cava and the right atrium (cavoatrial junction). Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) can be used to confirm the correct position of the CVC tip.

Arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (AMC) is a heterogeneous disorder associated with 1/3000 to 1/5000 live births. We report a consanguineous family with multiple affected members with AMC and identified a recessive mutation in the highly conserved splice donor site, resulting in the mis-splicing of the affected exons. SENP7 is a deSUMOylase that is critical for sarcomere assembly and skeletal muscle contraction by regulating the transcriptional program in the skeletal muscle.

This study investigated whether parental socialization of negative emotions moderated the relationship between adolescents' low executive function or high impulsivity and their current or subsequent emotion dysregulation. Emotion dysregulation, characterized by difficulties in managing the intensity and duration of emotions, is a transdiagnostic factor linked to adverse outcomes. Youth with poor executive functioning and/or high impulsivity are at risk for emotion dysregulation; however, the role of parenting in influencing this trajectory warrants exploration.

Objectives: The primary objective of this case series is to assess the effectiveness of the off-label use of the PROPEL drug-eluting stent, traditionally FDA-approved for sinus surgery, in preventing restenosis following canalplasty in patients with chronic otologic conditions or congenital anomalies. The stent provides both mechanical support to maintain canal patency and localized steroid delivery to reduce inflammation and scarring.
Methods: Four patients with various otologic conditions underwent canalplasty, followed by the placement of drug-eluting stents into the external auditory canal.

Background: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) stress techniques-including single-leg stress radiographs, Telos, and KT-1000 arthrometer-are highly accessible and can provide additional diagnostic information to assess ACL and ACL graft integrity. The degree of anterior tibial translation (ATT) may be useful in guiding treatment when a diagnosis on magnetic resonance imaging is not conclusive or for judging if additional treatments, such as anterolateral complex augmentation, may be necessary.
Purpose/hypothesis: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of increasing posterior tibial slope (PTS) on baseline tibial position (BTP) and side-to-side differences (SSD) in ATT.
