Implantable hemodynamic devices like the CardioMEMS HF System are commonly used to manage fluid status in patients with heart failure (HF) by measuring pulmonary pressures. Although CardioMEMS has been shown to reduce HF hospitalizations, rare complications (eg, device endothelialization) can occur and warrant clinical attention. A 67-year-old woman with HF with preserved ejection fraction and group 2 pulmonary hypertension experienced recurrent HF exacerbations.

Patients presenting with acute coronary syndrome with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction require rapid and decisive interventions to restore blood flow to the affected myocardium, minimizing ischemic damage. This case report is particularly unique because it involves a patient presenting with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction, where the culprit lesion was an occluded coronary artery graft with an extensive thrombus burden. The complexity of this case necessitated a strategic shift to revascularize the chronically occluded native vessel instead of the graft.

We present a first in human experience of transseptal balloon-assisted translocation of a mitral anterior leaflet (BATMAN) to facilitate transcatheter mitral valve replacement in a patient with severe mitral annular calcification who was at high risk of left ventricular outflow tract obstruction.

The Impact of Attentiveness Interventions on Survey Data.

Social and behavioral science researchers who use survey data are vigilant about data quality, with an increasing emphasis on avoiding common method variance (CMV) and insufficient effort responding (IER). Each of these errors can inflate and deflate substantive relationships, and there are both a priori and post hoc means to address them. Yet, little research has investigated how both IER and CMV are affected with the use of these different procedural or statistical techniques used to address them.

Associations Among Sleep, Pain, and Medications for Opioid Use Disorder: a Scoping Review.

Purpose Of Review: We present current evidence on the associations among sleep, pain, and medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) among individuals with opioid use disorder (OUD).

Recent Findings: We searched MEDLINE, Embase, PsycInfo, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library from inception until September 2023 for original research studies examining sleep, pain, and MOUD. We identified 19 manuscripts (14 were cross-sectional studies, four were prospective cohort studies, and one was a randomized controlled trial).

Development of small-molecule fluorescent probes targeting neutrophils -formyl peptide receptors.

-Formyl peptide receptors (FPRs) are membrane receptors that are abundantly expressed in innate immune cells, including neutrophils and platelets, demonstrating potential new targets for immune system regulation and the treatment of inflammatory conditions. We report here the development and bio-physical validation of new FPR imaging agents as effective tools to track FPR distribution, localisation and functions, ultimately helping to establish FPR exact roles and functions in pathological and physiological conditions. The new series of probes feature a small molecule-based FPR address system conjugated to suitable fluorophores, resulting in highly specific FPR agents, including a partial agonist endowed with high affinity ( low/sub-nanomolar potency) on FPR-transfected cells and human neutrophils.

We evaluated the 5-item Psychosis Screening Questionnaire (PSQ) against a diagnostic gold standard in South Africa. 1885 adults at primary and tertiary health facilities were screened with the PSQ and diagnosed using the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview-V. Minor adaptations were required of both instruments to distinguish between psychiatric symptoms and normative cultural beliefs.

Introduction: Plasma amyloid beta/amyloid beta (Aβ/Aβ) and phosphorylated tau217 (p-tau217) identify individuals with primary Alzheimer's disease (AD). They may detect AD co-pathology in the setting of other primary neurodegenerative diseases, but this has not been systematically studied.

Methods: We compared the clinical, neuroimaging, and neuropathological associations of plasma Aβ/Aβ (mass spectrometry), p-tau217 (electrochemiluminescence), and neurofilament light ([NfL], single molecule array [Simoa]), as markers of AD co-pathology, in a sporadic frontotemporal dementia (FTD) cohort ( = 620).

Background: The Valsalva maneuver is essential in evaluating left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) obstruction in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM).
