The use of immunotherapy is an emerging treatment option for advanced malignancies. Cutaneous adverse events following cancer immunotherapy are well-documented in the literature. The rarer cutaneous adverse effects are less characterized, including eruptive keratoacanthomas (KA).

A retrospective analysis of medications associated with pityriasis rosea reported in the FDA adverse events reporting system.

Pityriasis rosea (PR) is an acute exanthematous disease with an uncertain physiopathology, increasingly recognized as potentially drug induced. This study aims to investigate medication triggers associated with PR by analyzing cases reported in the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) database. A retrospective review of 343 PR cases reported in the FAERS database from January 1, 1998, to March 31, 2024, was conducted.

Water vapor thermal therapy for treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms due to large benign prostatic hyperplasia (≥ 80 g).

Introduction: Water vapor thermal therapy (WVTT; REZUM™; Boston, USA) offers symptom relief with reduced risks of complications in patients with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) related to benign prostatic obstruction (BPO). WVTT therapy has been validated in the pivotal study in men with smaller prostates (< 80 cc). Yet, its feasibility for larger prostates (≥ 80 cc) remains underexplored.

Anti-IL 17 biologics and pyoderma gangrenosum - therapeutic or causal?

Pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) is a rare neutrophilic dermatosis characterized by pustules that rapidly progress into ulcers that commonly affect the lower limbs. Recently, successful treatment of PG has been reported with anti-IL 17 treatments. However, there have also been several reports of "paradoxical" induction of new PG lesions after use of IL-17 inhibitors.

Type of arrhythmias and the risk of sudden cardiac death in dialysis patients: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Patients on long-term dialysis for end-stage kidney disease have a high mortality rate, predominantly due to sudden cardiac death (SCD), which is associated with an increased risk of arrhythmias compared to the general population. Thus, the current systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to investigate the incidence of SCD among dialysis patients at risk of arrhythmia.

Methods: This systematic review and meta-analysis followed the PRISMA guidelines.

Introduction: Globally, the prevalence of undernutrition is highest in the sub-Saharan African region with over a third of the world's stunted children residing in this region. Many studies have explored child nutrition in sub-Saharan Africa, but they often overlook the intricate nuances of maternal knowledge. We examined the association between maternal nutritional knowledge and childhood nutritional outcomes.

Purpose Of Review: Medicine and specifically mental health have been affected by emerging technologies advancing mental health treatment while at the same time bringing new challenges and stressors to the battlefield, military systems, and the warfighter.

Recent Findings: This article reviews the evolving positive and negative impacts of technology on combat mental health and treatment. A history of technology and military mental health concerns and services is followed by an overview of present benefits and risks.

New evidence finds young people in Mainland China are now bicultural.

This study reports new evidence that young people in Mainland China are now bicultural. We followed the established method of testing biculturalism by priming participants with images from two different cultures and measuring whether those images activate different thought styles. First, we replicated findings from 25 years ago that college students in Hong Kong are bicultural (Study 1).

Anderson-Fabry disease (AFD) is a X-linked lysosomal storage disorder that can result in cardiac dysfunction including left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) and conduction abnormalities (Frontiers in cardiovascular medicine vol. 10) [1]. The manifestations of AFD in women may be isolated to one organ and occur late in life due to the random inactivation of the X chromosome.

Indoor Air Quality in Multi-Family Housing: Drivers and Interventions.

Purpose Of Review: Indoor air pollution is likely to be elevated in multi-family housing and to contribute to health disparities, but limited studies to date have systematically considered the empirical evidence for exposure differentials between multi-family and single-family housing. Our goal is to separately examine the drivers of residential indoor air pollution, including outdoor air pollution, ventilation and filtration, indoor sources, and occupant activity patterns, using secondhand smoke as a case study to examine the behavioral dimensions of indoor environmental interventions.

Recent Findings: Within studies published from 2018 to 2023, multi-family homes have higher average outdoor air pollution than single-family homes given their more frequent presence in urban and near-roadway settings.

Data Sources: A comprehensive search of four databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Cochrane) was conducted.

Methods: A systematic review and single-proportion meta-analysis was conducted employing PRISMA guidelines.

Evaluation of a content-based image retrieval system for radiologists in high-resolution CT of interstitial lung diseases.

Background: This retrospective study aims to evaluate the impact of a content-based image retrieval (CBIR) application on diagnostic accuracy and confidence in interstitial lung disease (ILD) assessment using high-resolution computed tomography CT (HRCT).

Methods: Twenty-eight patients with verified pattern-based ILD diagnoses were split into two equal datasets (1 and 2). The images were assessed by two radiology residents (3rd and 5th year) and one expert radiologist in four sessions.

Effects of Food Processing on Allergenicity.

Purpose Of Review: There is an increasing awareness among clinicians that industrial and household food processing methods can increase or decrease the allergenicity of foods. Modification to allergen properties through processing can enable dietary liberations. Reduced allergenicity may also allow for lower risk immunotherapy approaches.

Hypermobile type Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and generalized hypermobile spectrum disorder treatment preferences - a cross-sectional survey of patients.

We aimed to assess the typical experiences, desired outcomes, satisfaction with clinical and anticipated outcomes, and the importance of improvements for individuals with Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) and Generalized Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (G-HSD). A cross-sectional survey was conducted among adults aged 18 and above with hEDS and G-HSD. The survey included the Patient-Centered Outcome Questionnaire and an adapted version addressing common concerns in these individuals.

Pain Management Services Can Be a Cost-Effective Option over Surgery for the Treatment of Chronic Pain.

Purpose Of Commentary: The number of facilities and physicians that offer pain management services has grown significantly since the 1970s. Despite the rise in prevalence of individuals with chronic pain during that time, interventional pain physicians remain underutilized. One reason why this may be the case is a large number of patients are referred directly to surgical specialists prior to being seen by an interventional pain physician.

Neoplastic premalignant pancreatobiliary lesions: current update on the spectrum of lesions and their imaging appearances.

Common pancreatobiliary epithelial malignancies such as pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma and gallbladder carcinoma have poor prognosis. A small but significant portion of these malignancies arise from mass-forming grossly and radiologically visible premalignant epithelial neoplasms in the pancreatobiliary tree. Several lesions, including a few recently described entities, fall under this category and predominantly include papillary epithelial lesions with or without mucin production.
