Pterygium belongs to an ocular surface disease with triangular-shaped hyperplastic growth, characterized by conjunctivalization, inflammation, and connective tissue remodeling. We previously demonstrated neoplastic-like properties of pterygium cells. Introduction: Retinal disease treatment delivery is mostly limited to intravitreal injections and slow-release injectable implants due to structural barriers in the eye, and carry associated adverse effects and relatively high treatment burden. The Port Delivery System with ranibizumab (PDS) is a novel drug delivery device that is surgically implanted into the vitreous cavity and allows for continuous release of the anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) ranibizumab, eliminating the need for frequent intravitreal injections while maintaining therapeutic intraocular drug levels to control disease activity. Sildenafil citrate, a selective oral phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitor, is a widely used drug for erectile dysfunction that acts by elevating cGMP levels and causing smooth muscle relaxation. It also has 10% activity against PDE6, a key enzyme in phototransduction cascade in the retina. Recent ocular imaging developments have further revealed the influence of sildenafil on ocular hemodynamics, particularly choroidal perfusion.

Recent Findings: Although few articles examine interdisciplinary models of inpatient rehab care that include optometry, a recent pilot study is explored.

Newer anticancer drugs have revolutionized cancer treatment in the last decade, but conventional chemotherapy still occupies a central position in many cancers, with combination therapy and newer methods of delivery increasing their efficacy while minimizing toxicities. We discuss the retinal toxicities of anticancer drugs with an emphasis on the mechanism of toxicity. Uveitis is seen with the use of v-raf murine sarcoma viral oncogene homolog B editing anticancer inhibitors as well as immunotherapy.

In central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC), the macula is detached because of fluid leakage at the level of the retinal pigment epithelium. The fluid appears to originate from choroidal vascular hyperpermeability, but the etiology for the fluid is controversial. The choroidal vascular findings as elucidated by recent optical coherence tomography (OCT) and wide-field indocyanine green (ICG) angiographic evaluation show eyes with CSC have many of the same venous patterns that are found in eyes following occlusion of the vortex veins or carotid cavernous sinus fistulas (CCSF).
