However, the instability of these linkers in mouse serum makes translating efficacy data from mouse to human more challenging.

Sea spray aerosol (SSA) is a widely recognized important source of ice-nucleating particles (INPs) in the atmosphere. However, composition-specific identification, nucleation processes, and ice nucleation rates of SSA-INPs have not been well constrained. Microspectroscopic characterization of ambient and laboratory-generated SSA confirms that water-borne exudates from planktonic microorganisms composed of a mixture of proteinaceous and polysaccharidic compounds act as ice-nucleating agents (INAs).

Background/purpose: Several brands of calcium silicate-based cements (CSBCs) are currently marketed. Here we compared physicochemical and biological properties of new products Ortho MTA (BioMTA), Retro MTA (BioMTA), and EZ-Seal (Ezekiel) to widely used ProRoot MTA (Dentsply Tulsa).

Materials And Methods: CSBCs were analyzed by X-ray diffractometry and examined by scanning electron microscopy.

In this study, some physicochemical and antibacterial properties of three root canal filling materials for primary teeth, Calplus “CP” (Prevest DenPro, Lewes, DE, USA), Bio-C Pulpecto “Bio-CP” (Angelus, Basil, Londrina, Paraná, Brazil), and Zinc Oxide and Eugenol “ZOE” (Prevest DenPro, Lewes, DE, USA) were compared. For each material, the pH, solubility, contact angle, and crystalline microstructure under SEM were evaluated. Their antibacterial activity against Enterococcus faecalis was determined through direct tests.

Refined Topical 5-Fluorouracil Technique for the Targeted Treatment of Odontogenic Keratocysts.

Purpose: An innovation in the treatment of odontogenic keratocysts (OKCs) is the adjunctive application of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU). Although the original approach remains effective, it may often be a challenge for the patient to return postoperatively and/or tolerate non-resorbable packing removal. The purpose of the present study is to determine whether our refined approach, where we directly apply 5-FU-coated absorbable gelatin sponge to the surgical cavity, would be an effective treatment for OKCs with similar efficacy as with our original approach.

The aim of this study was to determine the factors that affect esthetic preference regarding the perceived facial attractiveness of young Korean female adults with a normal skeletal pattern using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). After reorienting the CBCT images of 40 young Korean female adults, three-dimensional (3D) measurements were analyzed, and five 3D facial images were digitally constructed.
