An escalating trend of antipsychotic drug use in children with ADHD, disruptive behavior disorder, or mood disorders has raised concerns about the impact of these drugs on brain development. Since antipsychotics chiefly target dopamine receptors, it is important to assay the function of these receptors after early-life antipsychotic administration. Using rats as a model, we examined the effects of early-life risperidone, the most prescribed antipsychotic drug in children, on locomotor responses to the dopamine D/D receptor agonist, apomorphine, and the D/D receptor agonist, quinpirole.

Prevalence of Decay and Tooth Condition Changes Adjacent to Restored Dental Implants: A Retrospective Radiographic Study.

This study examined the association between a dental implant and changes in adjacent teeth over time. Electronic health records of 1818 patients who received a dental implant were retrospectively evaluated over 14 years (2005-2019) in a university setting. The status of the adjacent tooth and vertical and horizontal distance from the implant platform to adjacent teeth were determined using digital intraoral radiographs taken at baseline and the last follow-up visit (1-14 years, median 4 years).

Overdose Experiences Among a Sample of Women in Jail with Opioid Use Disorder.

  Previous non-fatal overdose may increase risk of overdose fatality for women reentering the community following incarceration, but pre-incarceration overdose experiences are understudied. This study describes the prevalence and correlates of non-fatal overdose prior to jail among women with opioid use disorder (OUD).  Women ( = 700) were randomly selected from eight Kentucky jails, screened for OUD, and interviewed as part of the NIDA-funded Kentucky Justice Community Opioid Innovation Network (JCOIN) trial.

Introduction: Social support is a critical factor for women's engagement with substance use treatment and recovery, particularly for women with criminal-legal system involvement. However, less is known about the social support networks of incarcerated women, particularly as a function of service engagement. Thus, this paper aims to describe the structure, composition, and function of social support networks of women with opioid use disorder (OUD) incarcerated in jails; and compare network differences between women receiving jail-based substance use treatment and non-treatment participants.

Whether the same polymorphisms also predict domain-specific cognitive change in cognitively healthy older adults is unclear. Future influenza pandemic threats are driven by extensive mutations and reassortments of avian influenza viruses rooted in frequent interspecies transmission and genetic mixing and underscore the urgent need for more effective actions.
