Background: There have been multiple reports of the anti-IL-4Rα agent, dupilumab, being associated with the onset and/or progression of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL).

Objective: We sought to evaluate safety signals associated with dupilumab, with a focus on CTCL, and to evaluate the possible underlying mechanism or mechanisms for the potential association.

Methods: First, we used the Food and Drug Administration's pharmacovigilance database, FAERS (FDA Adverse Event Reporting System), to evaluate whether dupilumab was associated with CTCL, including both positive outcome controls (conjunctivitis, eosinophilia, and arthralgia) and exposure controls (other medications with similar indications, including JAK inhibitors and the anti-IL-13 agent, tralokinumab) to evaluate confounding bias.

Compelling evidence has strongly linked unregulated sugar levels to developing Alzheimer's disease, suggesting Alzheimer's to be 'diabetes of the brain or 'type 3 diabetes. Insulin resistance contributes to the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease due to uncontrolled and unchecked blood glucose, though the interrelatedness between Alzheimer's disease and type 2 diabetes is debatable. Here we describe the consequences of inducing type 3 diabetes by feeding Drosophila on a high sucrose diet, which effectively mimics the pathophysiology of diabetes.

Rheumatoid arthritis associated recurrent pleural effusion.

Pleural effusions and pulmonary nodules are known complications of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) though pleural extra-articular manifestations without clinical arthritis are rare. We present a 66-year-old male with dyspnea and weight loss, whose imaging revealed pleural effusions and lung nodules, multiple exudative pleural effusions, and a thoracoscopic biopsy showing chronic pleuritis and granulomatous inflammation. Subsequent joint stiffness and positive rheumatoid markers led to a RA diagnosis.

This document summarizes the relevant literature for the selection of the initial imaging in five clinical scenarios in patients with suspected or known nonvariceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB). These clinical scenarios include suspected nonvariceal UGIB without endoscopy performed; endoscopically confirmed nonvariceal UGIB with clear source but treatment not possible or continued bleeding after endoscopic treatment; endoscopically confirmed nonvariceal UGIB without a confirmed source; suspected nonvariceal UGIB with negative endoscopy; and postsurgical or post-traumatic nonvariceal UGIB when endoscopy is contraindicated. The appropriateness of imaging modalities as they apply to each clinical scenario is rated as usually appropriate, may be appropriate, and usually not appropriate to assist the selection of the most appropriate imaging modality in the corresponding clinical scenarios of nonvariceal UGIB.

Current genetic research on obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) supports contributions to risk specifically from common single nucleotide variants (SNVs), along with rare coding SNVs and small insertion-deletions (indels). The contribution to OCD risk from rare copy number variants (CNVs), however, has not been formally assessed at a similar scale.
