Objective: To assess the role of biomarkers of Alzheimer disease (AD), neurodegeneration, and small vessel disease (SVD) as mediators in the association between diabetes mellitus and cognition.

Methods: The study sample was derived from MEMENTO, a cohort of French adults recruited in memory clinics and screened for either isolated subjective cognitive complaints or mild cognitive impairment. Diabetes was defined based on blood glucose assessment, use of antidiabetic agent, or self-report.

Background: Substance use disorders (SUDs) are based on pathophysiological mechanisms common to all psychoactive substances. However, general practitioners (GPs) hold different views depending on the substance in question.

Objectives: To determine whether the perceptions that teaching GPs and final-year residents in general practice have of patients with a SUD vary according to the substance involved and explore their professional responsibility and management experiences.

Unusual fetal ascites and spontaneous bladder rupture in a female fetus: a case report.

J Med Case Rep

July 2020

CHU Toulouse, Pole de Gynécologie Obstétrique, Hôpital Paule de Viguier, 31059, Toulouse, France.

Background: Fetal bladder rupture causing urinary ascites is uncommon. It is generally related to invasive fetal medicine procedures or obstructive disorders such as in posterior urethral valves in male fetuses. An exceptional case of spontaneous bladder rupture in a female fetus occurred in a pregnant woman treated with high doses of opiates in an intensive care unit.

Background And Purpose: To study the association between Alzheimer's disease and related syndromes (ADRS) and the incidence of short-stay hospitalizations from the year before (Y ) to 4 years after (Y -Y ) ADRS identification in the healthcare system.

Methods: Among all beneficiaries of the French health insurance general scheme aged 40 years or more, those with an incident ADRS in 2011, identified through long-term disease registry, hospitalization diagnoses or ADRS-specific drug delivery, were matched with beneficiaries without ADRS of the same age, gender and residence area. The annual incidence rates of all-cause hospitalizations (excluding those with a diagnosis code of ADRS) were compared between individuals with or without ADRS using incidence ratios (IRs) globally and by age, gender, deprivation index and modified Charlson score.

Objective: To compare neonatal mortality and morbidity of first twins according to the planned mode of delivery when the first twin is in breech presentation, in a country where planned vaginal delivery is an option.

Methods: This is a planned secondary analysis of the JUMODA (JUmeaux MODe d'Accouchement) cohort, a national prospective population-based study of twin deliveries conducted in 176 French hospitals. We analyzed pregnancies with first twins in breech presentation and applied the inclusion criteria of the Twin Birth Study (except the criterion for first-twin presentation): both fetuses alive, with a birth weight between 1,500 g and 4,000 g, at or after 32 0/7 weeks of gestation.

Meal-related difficulties and weight loss in older people: Longitudinal data from MAPT study.

Clin Nutr

Electronic address:

Background: Difficulties with meal-related activities (preparing meals and food shopping) may influence food intake, and contribute to nutritional risk among elderly people. All known studies on this topic had a cross-sectional design, thereby no causal relationships could be derived. We aim to investigate if difficulties with meal-related activities can contribute to subsequent weight loss in community-dwelling older people.

Primary Care of Opioid use Disorder: The End of "the French Model"?

Eur Addict Res

September 2021

Inserm UMR1027, Université de Toulouse III, Faculté de Médecine, 37 allées Jules Guesde, Toulouse, France.

Background: In France, most patients with opioid use disorder (OUD) have been treated by buprenorphine, prescribed by general practitioners (GP) in private practice since 1996. This has contributed to building a 'French model' facilitating access to treatment based on the involvement of GPs in buprenorphine prescription.

Objectives: Our study aimed to assess whether the involvement of primary care in OUD management has changed lately.

Expectant management in HELLP syndrome: predictive factors of disease evolution.

J Matern Fetal Neonatal Med

December 2021

CHU Toulouse, Pôle de Gynécologie Obstétrique, Hôpital Paule de Viguier, Toulouse, France.

Objective: HELLP syndrome is a rare and severe pregnancy complication which exposes to severe maternal and fetal morbidity. Management of HELLP syndrome occurring before 34 weeks of gestation (WG) is still controversial but conservative management may be beneficial in patients with stable HELLP syndrome. The aim of the study was thus to identify which maternal and fetal prognostic factors could be predictive of HELLP syndrome evolution.

Methods: The vaccination rate was estimated from vaccine dispensation. IVC was compared between GCA and their controls using longitudinal multivariate Poisson regression.

Mechanisms of life-course socioeconomic inequalities in adult systemic inflammation: Findings from two cohort studies.

Soc Sci Med

January 2020

Center for Primary Care and Public Health (Unisanté), University of Lausanne, Switzerland; Unit of Population Epidemiology, Division of Primary Care, Geneva University Hospitals, Switzerland.

Disadvantaged socioeconomic conditions in childhood heighten systemic inflammatory levels in adulthood; however, life-course mechanisms underlying this association are largely unknown. In the present observational study, we investigated the roles of adulthood socioeconomic and lifestyle factors in mediating this association. Participants were from two prospective Swiss population-based cohorts (N = 5,152, mean age 60 years).

Finally an evidence-based indication for injectable phloroglucinol!

J Gynecol Obstet Hum Reprod

CHU Toulouse, Pôle de Gynécologie Obstétrique, Hôpital Paule de Viguier, Toulouse, F-31059, France; Université de Toulouse III, UMR1027, Toulouse, F-31073, France. Electronic address:

Background: While phloroglucinol is widely prescribed in European countries for its antispasmodic properties, recent high quality data failed to demonstrate its superiority to placebo in alleviating abdominal pain. Rumors suggest that injectable presentation of phloroglucinol may erase povidone-iodine stains. We thus aimed to evaluate its efficacy in this new indication.

Can early βhCG change and baseline progesterone level predict treatment outcome in patients receiving single dose Methotrexate protocol for tubal ectopic pregnancy?

Arch Gynecol Obstet

March 2019

CHU Toulouse, Pôle de Gynécologie Obstétrique, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Hôpital Paule de Viguier, 31059, Toulouse, France.

Introduction: We aimed to assess the prognostic significance of early βhCG change and baseline progesterone level on treatment outcome among women receiving single dose Methotrexate protocol for tubal ectopic pregnancy (EP).

Material And Methods: Retrospective study involving all consecutive patients diagnosed with EP and receiving Methotrexate therapy form January 2015 to December 2016. Patients were stratified into 2 groups according to treatment outcome: success group (n = 66) involved women who displayed complete resolution of serum βhCG levels following a single course of Methotrexate; failure group (n = 55) included patients who required repeated Methotrexate administration and/or surgical management.

Unlabelled: In response to demographic challenges, primary care need to get familiar with the concept of frailty and the early detection of cognitive impairment. The « Frailty and Alzheimer's disease prevention into primary care » (FAP) project introduced a geriatric evaluation with a nurse in primary care in order to assess older patients. Our work aimed to evaluate the general practitioner's (GPs) opinion involved in FAP project.
