Background: Because rotational atherectomy (RA) is associated with arterial trauma and platelet activation, patients treated with RA may benefit from more potent antiplatelet drugs. The aim of this trial was to assess the superiority of ticagrelor over clopidogrel in reducing post procedure troponin release.
Methods: TIRATROP (TIcagrelor in Rotational Atherectomy to reduce TROPonin enhancement) is a multicenter double-blind randomized controlled trial that included 180 patients with severe calcified lesions requiring RA who received either clopidogrel (300 mg loading dose, then 75 mg/d) or ticagrelor (loading dose 180 mg then 90 mg twice daily).

In the code of public health, misuse is defined as intentional and inappropriate use of a medicine or product, which is not in accordance with the terms of the marketing authorisation or the registration as well as with good practice recommendations. Very often this involves an individual or the interaction of several individuals including the patient, his/her carers, prescriber(s) and/or dispensers. Misuse is common; it is the source of medicinal adverse effects for which a significant part is avoidable.

To report on prevalence of cerebral palsy (CP), severity rates, and types of brain lesions in children born preterm 2004 to 2010 by gestational age groups. Data from 12 population-based registries of the Surveillance of Cerebral Palsy in Europe network were used. Children with CP were eligible if they were born preterm (<37 weeks of gestational age) between 2004 and 2010, and were at least 4 years at time of registration.

Background: Hallux valgus (HV) in adults is an acquired pathology related to 1 metatarsal (M1) abduction. In children, it is related to abnormal M1 joint surface orientation.
Hypothesis: HV deformities in children and adults differ.

Unlabelled: Due to the danger of repeated exposure to X-rays for patients with Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS), reducing the number of radiographs is necessary. By using Surface Topography (ST), trunk asymmetry evaluation could be used. The number of radiographs required can be reduced by 30% when the radio is used only for patients with worsening ST.

Introduction: The intervertebral disc (IVD) is made up of the annulus fibrosus (AF) and the nucleus pulposus (NP) - an inert hydrated complex. The ability of the IVD to deform is correlated to that of the NP and depends on its hydration. As the IVD ages, its hydration decreases along with its ability to deform.

However vitamin K antagonists (VKA) or direct oral anticoagulant drugs (DOAC) may act differently on ACT and on heparin needs. The aim of this study was to compare ACT and heparin requirements during catheter ablation under various oral anticoagulant drugs and in controls.

Some concerns about the prescription of drugs acting on the renin-angiotensin system (angiotensin-converting enzyme 1 (ACE1) inhibitors, ACEi; angiotensin II type 1 receptor blockers, ARB) have emerged due to SARS COV2 and COVID-19 pandemic. These very legitimate questions are directly the consequence of the recent recognition of the fundamental role of ACE2 (angiotensin-converting enzyme 2) in COVID-19 infection. Indeed, SARS COV2 utilizes ACE2 as a membrane receptor to enter target cells.

To inform accurate estimates of ART formulations and doses needed, we described weight-for-age distributions among CHIV on ART in the IeDEA global pediatric collaboration between 2004 and 2016, using data from six regions (East, West, Central, and Southern Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Central/South America and the Caribbean).
Results: Overall, 59,862 children contributed to the analysis.

According to previous reports, diabetes seems to be a risk factor which worsens the serious clinical events caused by COVID-19. But is diabetes per se a risk factor that increases the probability of getting the virus? This paper will discuss this point. There are not many research data on antidiabetic drugs in this context.

Background: Studies have shown disparate results on the consequences of morphine use in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). No study has evaluated alternative treatments that could be at least non-inferior to morphine without its potentially damaging consequences for myocardial function and platelet reactivity. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether nitrous oxide/oxygen plus intravenous acetaminophen (NOO-A) is non-inferior to morphine to control chest pain in STEMI patients.

With the multiplication of COVID-19 severe acute respiratory syndrome cases due to SARS-COV2, some concerns about angiotensin-converting enzyme 1 (ACE1) inhibitors (ACEi) and angiotensin II type 1 receptor blockers (ARB) have emerged. Since the ACE2 (angiotensin-converting enzyme 2) enzyme is the receptor that allows SARS COV2 entry into cells, the fear was that pre-existing treatment with ACEi or ARB might increase the risk of developing severe or fatal severe acute respiratory syndrome in case of COVID-19 infection. The present article discusses these concerns.

Objective: Due to their advanced age in average, colon cancer patients are likely to be exposed to comorbidity. However, the influence of comorbidity on patients' care trajectory and survival is largely under-explored. Hence, we investigate the effect of comorbidity on patients care trajectory and survival based on an observational study in "real-life" setting.

Non-adherence to antihypertensive treatment is one of the critical contributors to sub-optimal blood pressure control. The French Society of Hypertension remembered that urine and serum biochemical detection of antihypertensive drugs could be useful in a patient with resistant hypertension. Talking to a patient with biochemically confirmed non-adherence to blood pressure-lowering therapy and repeating them improved adherence to drugs.

Reciprocally, increased intestinal bacterial translocation and bloodstream infection are common comorbidities associated with heart failure and myocardial infarction (MI). In this context, the aim of this study was to analyze the blood microbiome in patients shortly after acute myocardial infarction.

Background: Evidences support social inequalities in cancer survival. Studies on hematological malignancies, and more specifically Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), are sparser. Our study assessed: 1/ the influence of patients' socioeconomic position on survival, 2/ the role of treatment in this relationship, and 3/ the influence of patients' socioeconomic position on treatment utilization.

Aim: Hypertension is a public health problem managed according to therapeutic strategies published in France by the Hauteautoritéde santé (HAS - French Health Authorities). For patients with resistant hypertension, related or not to a non-adherence, prescribers need to be sure the exposure is high enough to achieve the tensional target. Quantitative analysis of antihypertensive drugs in different biological matrices (blood/urine) is one possible solution.
