While several studies have previously described the levels of one-carbon metabolism-related micronutrients in women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and their neonates, the results in these literature reports have been contradictory. We hypothesized that the concentrations of micronutrients involved in the one-carbon cycle are altered in pregnant women and their neonates by GDM, and that these changes could further modify the neonatal anthropometry. Micronutrient levels were measured in 123 pregnant women with normal glucose levels (M-ND) and their neonates (N-ND), as well as in 54 pregnant women with gestational diabetes (M-GDM) and their neonates (M-GDM).

Objective: To determine the differences in the neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and the platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR) in pregnant women with and without COVID-19.
Methods: Observational, cross-sectional, retrospective, comparative, open, controlled study done from January to April 2021 at the UMAE Hospital de Gineco Obstetricia "Luis Castelazo Ayala" Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social. Mexico City, Mexico: Patients were divided into those with a negative test for COVID-19 and those with a positive test, with the latter then being divided according to disease severity into mild, moderate, and severe groups.

Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is an inflammatory bowel disease and a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in preterm infants. In this study, a randomized double-blind parallel-group (1:1) trial was carried out in two neonatal intensive care units of two tertiary hospitals. Two hundred and twenty-five preterm newborns with an expected functional gastrointestinal tract were recruited and received an enteral dose of 75 mg of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)/kg body weight or high-oleic sunflower oil daily for 14 days from the first enteral feed after birth.

Perfluorohexane sulfonate (PFHxS) is one of the most abundant perfluorinated compounds in the environment. The capacity that G protein‑coupled receptor 30 (GPR30) has demonstrated for triggering estrogen‑dependent signaling pathways has attracted the interest of breast cancer researchers; however, the reported expression profiles and functions of GPR30 in breast cancer are inconsistent. The main purpose of the present investigation was to identify transcriptional mechanisms underlying the expression of GPR30 that allow a better understanding of its role in breast cancer progression. In the cell lines used as different polarity models in the present study, it was determined immunologically that GPR30 is expressed in normal mammary gland cells and that this expression decreased considerably during breast cancer development, where cell identity is lost.
