Matrix metalloproteinases-2 (MMP-2) plays an important role in the pathogenesis of type A aortic dissection (AD). The aim of this study was to evaluate the association of 3 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the MMP-2 gene with type A AD risk and aortic diameters in patients. We performed a case-control study with 172 unrelated type A AD patients and 439 controls.
