The coronavirus HCoV-OC43 circulates continuously in the human population and is a frequent cause of the common cold. Here, we generated a high-resolution atlas of the transcriptional and translational landscape of OC43 during a time course following infection of human lung fibroblasts. Providing real-time short-term forecasts of the demand for health care services helps managers plan their services. During the Winter of 2022-23 we piloted a new forecasting pipeline, using existing surveillance indicators which are sensitive to increases in respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).

Polymicrogyria in infants with symptomatic congenital cytomegalovirus at birth is associated with epilepsy: A retrospective, descriptive cohort study.

Aim: To identify neonatal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features that predict the likelihood of children with congenital cytomegalovirus (cCMV) developing epilepsy, together with clinical features and a validated MRI scoring system.

Method: This was a retrospective descriptive cohort study of infants with cCMV referred to a paediatric infectious disease centre between April 2012 and March 2022, and followed up for at least 2 years. MRI was performed before 4 months of age and assessed by two paediatric neuroradiologists.

Objective: To assess the pathological mechanisms contributing to white matter (WM) lesion expansion or contraction and remyelination in multiple sclerosis (MS).

Methods: We assessed 1,613 lesions in 49 people with relapsing-remitting MS in the CCMR-One bexarotene trial (EudraCT 2014-003145-99). We measured lesion orientation relative to WM tracts, surface-in gradients and veins.

Lotus japonicus-ROOT HAIR LESS1-LIKE1 (LRL1) of Arabidopsis thaliana encodes a basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factor (TF) involved in root hair development. Root hair development is regulated by an elaborate transcriptional network, in which GLABRA2 (GL2), a key negative regulator, directly represses bHLH TF genes, including LRL1 and ROOT HAIR DEFECTIVE6 (RHD6). Although RHD6 and its paralogous TFs have been shown to connect downstream to genes involved in cell morphological events such as endomembrane and cell wall modification, the network downstream of LRL1 remains elusive.

Potentially toxic elements (PTEs) and naturally occurring radionuclides materials (NORMs) were assessed from soil samples collected from ten quarry sites in three districts (Odeda, Ajebo, and Ijebu Ode) in Ogun State. Up to 60% of people living with dementia who reside in care homes will 'wander' at some point. A person-centred approach should be taken to support each person's individual needs through tailored interventions when wandering. This study aimed to identify care home staff perspectives on what supports safe wandering for people living with dementia in care home environments.

Testosterone-induced Seminal Vesicle-like Differentiation in Cervical Mesonephric Duct Remnants in a Female to Male Transgender Patient.

Pure ductal-type mesonephric remnants in the uterine cervix are rare. We report an unusual case in a 31-yr-old of cervical mesonephric remnants of predominantly ductal type exhibiting seminal vesicle-like differentiation in a female-to-male transgender patient receiving long-term testosterone therapy. To the best of our knowledge, this phenomenon has not been previously reported.

A study on the thermo-photoisomerization of a liquid crystalline dimer of cyanoazobenzene and naphthalene.

The isomerization kinetics of a liquid crystalline azobenzene dimer, comprising cyanoazobenzene and naphthalene (NAZ6), were investigated at the air-water interface. The Langmuir monolayers of NAZ6 in both its and states were analyzed using surface manometry techniques. The results revealed that NAZ6 molecules in the -state displayed the coexistence of a disordered liquid-expanded phase and an ordered liquid-condensed phase, whereas no such phase transition was observed in the -state.
