Aims: Patients coming for urodynamics expect those delivering the service to be fully trained, with assurance of competence and quality. This document proposes a single UKCS Certification and Re-certification process for all health care professionals who perform or interpret urodynamics.
Methods: The Working Group of the United Kingdom Continence Society engaged with stakeholders in relevant professional societies and institutions, recirculating drafts until consensus was reached.

Tissue expressed human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) is an established parameter of breast cancer, and it is determined in routine clinical practice by histology. This study aims to assess the prognostic value of serum HER2 protein quantified using ELISA in 66 primary breast cancer patients. The median follow-up period was 94 months.

Aims: Epidemiological evidence shows a concerning rise in youth mental health difficulties over the past three decades. Most evidence, however, comes from countries in Europe or North America, with far less known about changes in other global regions. This study aimed to compare adolescent mental health across two population-based cohorts in the UK, and two population-based cohorts in Pelotas, Brazil.

Despite the growing literature on the impact of Covid-19 on antenatal care (ANC) and maternal/neonatal and child health outcomes globally, substantial knowledge gaps remain about the population-level impact in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). Existing evidence on the ANC impact of Covid-19 in SSA is largely based on health facility or small-scale qualitative research, which are limited in providing population-level understanding. This paper examines the extent to which Covid-19 impacted ANC service utilisation and identifies what population sub-groups were most adversely impacted.

Acute vestibular syndrome (AVS) is a common clinical presentation. Common causes include peripheral, self-limiting labyrinthine disorders, but a significant proportion are caused by posterior circulation stroke (PoCS). Delineating between a peripheral versus central cause in AVS is challenging for acute care physicians, but a simple, three-step bedside test known collectively as the HINTS examination may be useful.

Whilst bis(trimethylsilyl)amide has been used extensively as a ligand across the periodic table, the chemistry of its heavier group 15 congeners is relatively underdeveloped. However, bis(trimethylsilyl)phosphide coordination chemistry has provided unique structural motifs and has also shown potential applications in catalysis, materials science, and bioinorganic chemistry. This review, which marks 55 years since the first report of a bis(trimethylsilyl)phosphide complex, provides a comprehensive overview of the synthesis, characterisation and reactivity of structurally authenticated s-, p-, d- and f-block metal complexes of this ligand, focusing on salient single crystal XRD and NMR spectroscopic data.

The English (or British) country house has enjoyed an under-appreciated social and economic revival in the last 25 years as a result of changes in the political economy associated with 'neoliberalism', which have benefitted both new buyers of country houses and old owners. One result of this revival has been the 're-privatization' of the country house, which has reduced its public profile. Recent interest in the cultural meanings of the country house-re-evaluated in light of empire, slavery, and nationalism-should take into account the greater insulation that neo-liberalism has lent these houses and their owners.

Natural killer (NK) cells are innate lymphoid cells which are present in the lung as circulating and resident cells. They are key players both in airway surveillance and in crosstalk with (COPD) pathogenesis, and they seem to contribute to the development of bronchiectasis. In asthma, NK cell dysfunction was observed mainly in severe forms, and it can lead to a biased type-2 immune response and failure in the resolution of eosinophilic inflammation that characterise both allergic and eosinophilic phenotypes.

Moreover, alongside emerging viruses, the increasing threat of antimicrobial resistance further reinforces the need to develop novel methods for infection control. Anti-pathogenic coatings on textiles offer a promising solution; in this study, three electroless copper-plated fabrics are evaluated for their antipathogenic properties following International Standards Organisation (ISO) standards.

This study analyzes vegetation cover changes and their impact on UHI from 2000 to 2020 in three locations: Dexing City and Qibaoshan Township in China, and Dartford Ebbsfleet Garden City in the UK, using satellite imagery and remote sensing data. In Dexing City, the transition from open-pit to underground mining, combined with reclamation efforts, maintained a stable fractional vegetation cover (FVC) of 0.

Despite the blaze of advancing knowledge on its complex genetic architecture, hypertension remains an elusive condition. Genetic studies of blood pressure have yielded bitter-sweet results thus far with the identification of more than 2,000 genetic loci, though the candidate causal genes and biological pathways remain largely unknown. The era of big data and sophisticated statistical tools has propelled insights into pathophysiology and causal inferences.

The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) is a UK Department for Education (DfE) funded program that provides free food and activities for 5-16-year-olds in receipt of means-tested free school meals. This evaluation focuses on parent/caregiver perceptions of HAF benefits during the 2021 and 2022 school holidays for a sample of parents/caregivers whose children attended HAF ( = 736) and a sample who did not attend HAF ( = 885). The results show that parents of children who attend HAF for 4 weeks (i.

Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) - whose terminology was recently replaced by metabolic liver disease (MAFLD) - is an accumulation of triglycerides in the liver of >5 % of its weight. Epidemiological studies indicated an association between NAFLD and reduced physical activity. In addition, exercise has been shown to improve NAFLD independently of weight loss.

This paper employs a pattern matching approach to explore the tensions arising from differences in the ethical dispositions of multinational enterprise (MNE) buyers and their suppliers within the Bangladeshi apparel manufacturing sector. It examines how varying ethical principles shape the development, implementation, and outcomes of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and labor standards. Our analysis resulted in the identification of four scenarios: legitimacy with friction, mitigated forced alignment, collaborative enhancement, and principled resistance.

Objectives: The urgent global threats of the climate crisis and antimicrobial resistance have the potential to be addressed in part by increasing the use of outpatient antimicrobial therapy (OPAT). Our study aimed to appraise the environmental impact of three commonly used OPAT pathways, and the traditional inpatient model of IV antimicrobial therapy.
Methods: We assessed the CO, waste and water footprint associated with self-care, nurse assisted and outpatient OPAT care pathways and inpatient administration of intravenous antibiotics to adult patients for whom OPAT was a viable treatment option.

Aims: Treatment of patients with cancer presenting with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is complex given the increased risk of both thrombotic and major bleeding complications.
Methods And Results: A nationally linked cohort of STEMI patients between January 2005 and March 2019 was obtained from the UK Myocardial Infarction National Audit Project and the UK National Hospital Episode Statistics Admitted Patient Care registries. The primary outcomes were major bleeding and re-infarction at 1 year following admission with STEMI.

Healthcare workers in Africa face considerable stress due to factors like long working hours, heavy workloads and limited resources, leading to psychological distress. Generally, countries in the global north have well-established policies and employee wellness programs for mental health compared to countries in the global south. This scoping review aimed to synthesize evidence from published and grey literature on workplace mental health promotion interventions targeting African healthcare workers using Social Ecological Model (SEM) and the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) model as an underlying theoretical framework for analysis.

We present a series of network analyses aiming to uncover the symptom constellations of depression, anxiety and somatization among 2,796 adult primary health care attendees in Goa, India, a low- and middle-income country (LMIC). Depression and anxiety are the leading neuropsychiatric causes of disability. Yet, the diagnostic boundaries and the characteristics of their dynamically intertwined symptom constellations remain obscure, particularly in non-Western settings.
