Article Synopsis
  • - This study explored how adding carbon nanotubes (CNTs) to rice husk ash (RHA) concrete affects its strength and durability, finding that the best results came from a 0.10% addition of multiwalled CNTs (MWCNTs).
  • - Mechanical tests showed that this optimal CNT addition improved compressive strength by 7%, splitting tensile strength by 23.81%, flexural strength by 17.5%, and elastic modulus by 1.0% after 28 days, but adding more MWCNTs decreased these properties.
  • - The study also noted that combining 0.10% MWCNTs with 15% RHA resulted in better long-term performance, reducing water

Lung Cancer (LC) is among the most death-causing cancers, has caused the most destruction and is a gender-neutral cancer, and WHO has kept this cancer on its priority list to find the cure. We have used high-throughput virtual screening, standard precision docking, and extra precise docking for extensive screening of Drug Bank compounds, and the uniqueness of this study is that it considers multiple protein targets of prognosis and metastasis of LC. The docking and MM\GBSA calculation scores for the Tiaprofenic acid (DB01600) against all ten proteins range from -8.

Background: Recent evidence suggests that some flavonoid compounds obtained from crude methanol extract of mistletoe leaves ( ), also known as Benalu Duku (BD), have antimicrobial effects. Thus, the plant has the potential to eliminate viruses that may cause outbreaks in chicken farms. This study aimed to prove the ability of flavonoid compounds, namely quercetin-like compounds (QLCs), to eliminate field viruses, specifically the Newcastle disease virus (NDV).

A streamlined approach for intelligent ship object detection using EL-YOLO algorithm.

Sci Rep

July 2024

Faculty of Engineering, Technology and Built Environment, UCSI University, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Maritime objects frequently exhibit low-quality and insufficient feature information, particularly in complex maritime environments characterized by challenges such as small objects, waves, and reflections. This situation poses significant challenges to the development of reliable object detection including the strategies of loss function and the feature understanding capabilities in common YOLOv8 (You Only Look Once) detectors. Furthermore, the widespread adoption and unmanned operation of intelligent ships have generated increasing demands on the computational efficiency and cost of object detection hardware, necessitating the development of more lightweight network architectures.

This study examined the second-order schema domains of Early Maladaptive and Adaptive Schemas based on recent trends and compared them with the five theoretical second-order schema domains commonly used in schema therapy. Using six international Eastern and Western community samples-Singapore ( = 628), Malaysia ( = 229), USA ( = 396), South Africa ( = 390), Nigeria ( = 364), India ( = 306)-confirmatory factor analysis showed that the four second-order domains of EMSs and EASs, which ran almost parallel with each other, were the most robust models calling into question the validity of the five domain model. Given the hypothesized links between schemas and needs, these four categories of EMSs and EASs represent four categories of toxic experiences and core emotional needs, respectively.

Neoterically, food packaging systems designed solely for prolonging shelf life or monitoring freshness could not fulfil the dynamic demands of consumers. In this current investigation, using the solvent casting method, a versatile halochromic indicator was created by integrating black currant anthocyanin and cinnamon essential oil-loaded Pickering emulsion into a starch/gelatin matrix. The resulting indicator film underwent scrutiny for its structural, pH-sensitive, antioxidant, and antimicrobial attributes.
