Polygenic scores (PGSs) summarize the combined effect of common risk variants and are associated with breast cancer risk in patients without identifiable monogenic risk factors. One of the most well-validated PGSs in breast cancer to date is PGS, which was developed from a Northern European biobank but has shown attenuated performance in non-European ancestries. We further investigate the generalizability of the PGS for American women of European (EA), African (AFR), Asian (EAA), and Latinx (HL) ancestry within one institution with a singular electronic health record (EHR) system, genotyping platform, and quality control process.

Rotational path removable partial mandibular resection prostheses: A case series of patients with mandibular symphyseal defects.

Rotational path removable partial mandibular resection prostheses (MRPs) offer advantages in the management of patients with acquired symphyseal defects of the mandible, including enhanced esthetics achieved through a reduced number of clasps, the provision of rigid retainers less prone to distortion compared with flexible alternatives, and the ability to engage prominent proximal undercuts in patients lacking buccal undercuts. Additionally, removable partial MRPs represent a suitable treatment option in scenarios where the cost of implant-retained prostheses is prohibitive or in patients where implant therapy is contraindicated, such as those with a history of head and neck radiation. While the use of rotational path removable prostheses has been well documented in conventional prosthodontics, its application in maxillofacial prosthetics remains less explored.

Objectives: Testing for anti-SSA/Ro antibodies in serum is essential in the diagnostic work-up for primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS). In this study, we aimed to validate our previous assay for detection of salivary anti-SSA/Ro52, and to develop assays for detection of salivary anti-SSA/Ro60 and for detection of anti-Ro52 and -Ro60 in plasma using the electric field-induced release and measurement (EFIRM) platform.

Methods: Whole saliva samples from two independent Danish cohorts (DN1 and DN2) including 49 patients with pSS, 73 patients with sicca symptoms, but not fulfilling the classification criteria for pSS (non-pSS sicca), and 51 healthy controls (HC), as well as plasma samples from the DN1 cohort were analyzed using EFIRM to detect anti-SSA/Ro52 and -Ro60.

Peri-implant diseases, such as peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis, are induced by dysbiotic microbiota resulting in the inflammatory destruction of peri-implant tissue. Nonetheless, there has yet to be an established protocol for the treatment of these diseases in a predictable manner, although many clinicians and researchers have proposed various treatment modalities for their management. With the increase in the number of reports evaluating the efficacy of various treatment modalities and new materials, the use of multiple decontamination methods to clean infected implant surfaces is recommended; moreover, the use of hard tissue laser and/or air abrasion techniques may prove advantageous in the future.

Although cold preservation remains the gold standard in organ transplantation, cold stress-induced cellular injury is a significant problem in clinical orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT). Because a recent study showed that cold stress activates ferroptosis, a form of regulated cell death, we investigated whether and how ferroptosis determines OLT outcomes in mice and humans. Treatment with ferroptosis inhibitor (ferrostatin-1) during cold preservation reduced lipid peroxidation (malondialdehyde; MDA), primarily in liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSECs), and alleviated ischemia/reperfusion injury in mouse OLT.

This study is focused on assessing the activation in NK, CD3+ T, and γδ T cells when they interact with osteoclasts (OCs) and monocytes in the presence or absence of zoledronate (ZOL), both in humans and WT mice. OCs resulted in increased IFN-γ secretion in NK, CD3+ T, and γδ T cells, however, the significantly highest increase was seen when cells were co-cultured with ZOL-treated OCs. Our previous studies have demonstrated increased IFN-γ secretion in the peripheral blood-derived immune cells of bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BRONJ) mice model.

Vascular morphogenesis requires a delicate gradient of Notch signaling controlled, in part, by the distribution of ligands (Dll4 and Jagged1). How Jagged1 (JAG1) expression is compartmentalized in the vascular plexus remains unclear.
