Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of ultrasound-guided ruthenium (Ru 106) plaque brachytherapy for treatment of exudative retinal detachment in diffuse choroidal haemangioma (DCH).

Methods: Retrospective analysis of four paediatric patients treated with ultrasound-guided Ru 106 plaque brachytherapy for DCH with total exudative retinal detachment directed to the thickest part of the DCH. A dose of 40 Gy to the tumour apex was delivered in all patients.

Photoreceptors (PRs) are metabolically demanding and packed at high density, which presents a challenge for nutrient exchange between the associated vascular beds and the tissue. We present 3 cases of bilateral anterior lens capsule rupture, all leading to a subsequent diagnosis of Alport syndrome. Clinicians should be alert to the ocular and systemic features of Alport syndrome, especially when presented with a spontaneous rupture of the anterior lens capsule in young males. Ophthalmologists are often the first contact for patients with Alport syndrome, and a sound knowledge of the associated features will enable timely referral to other members of a multidisciplinary team required to treat such patients.

Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) is a severe developmental and epileptic encephalopathy (DEE) characterized by multiple types of drug-resistant seizures (which must include tonic seizures) with classical onset before 8 years (although some cases with later onset have also been described), abnormal electroencephalographic features, and cognitive and behavioral impairments. Management and treatment of LGS are challenging, due to associated comorbidities and the treatment resistance of seizures. A panel of five epileptologists reconvened to provide updated guidance and treatment algorithms for LGS, incorporating recent advancements in antiseizure medications (ASMs) and understanding of DEEs.
