Department of International Trade and Business, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Inonu University, 44000, Malatya, Turkey.

Import demand elasticity (IDE) is a critical metric often employed to guide government decisions regarding tariffs and non-tariff barriers, ensuring that foreign trade remains uninterrupted while optimizing tax revenues. This study, however, leverages IDE to assess the impact of the carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM) on Türkiye's decarbonization process. Specifically, the research analyzed the total export quantities and unit prices of four product groups-cement, fertilizers, and inorganic chemicals, steel and iron, and aluminum-exported from Türkiye to the European Union-27 countries under the CBAM framework between 2002 and 2021.

This study utilizes the Breast Ultrasound Image (BUSI) dataset to present a deep learning technique for breast tumor segmentation based on a modified UNet architecture. To improve segmentation accuracy, the model integrates attention mechanisms, such as the Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM) and Non-Local Attention, with advanced encoder architectures, including ResNet, DenseNet, and EfficientNet. These attention mechanisms enable the model to focus more effectively on relevant tumor areas, resulting in significant performance improvements.

To test for rates of inpatient palliative care (IPC) in metastatic testicular cancer patients receiving critical care therapy (CCT). Within the Nationwide Inpatient Sample (NIS) database (2008-2019), we tabulated IPC rates in metastatic testicular cancer patients receiving CCT, namely invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV), percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube (PEG), dialysis for acute kidney failure (AKF), total parenteral nutrition (TPN) or tracheostomy. Univariable and multivariable logistic regression models addressing IPC were fitted.

This study explores the integration of nanotechnology and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) machine learning algorithms to enhance the understanding and optimization of fuel spray dynamics in compression ignition (CI) engines with varying bowl geometries. The incorporation of nanotechnology, through the addition of nanoparticles to conventional fuels, improves fuel atomization, combustion efficiency, and emission control. Simultaneously, LSTM models are employed to analyze and predict the complex spray behavior under diverse operational and geometric conditions.

Dairy farmers are grappling with serious business challenges, including rising operational costs, labour shortages, unstable milk prices, changing consumer preferences, long hours with minimal downtime and unstable weather patterns due to climate change impacts. Using a telephone-based representative survey and interviews with 147 Australian dairy farmers conducted in 2023, we employed a mixed-method approach combining quantitative and qualitative analysis to determine the challenges and primary concerns of the participants, as well as to explore potential solutions. Four key variables that contributed significantly to a binary logistic regression model of transition intentions were identified, namely: level of satisfaction with dairy farming, openness to exploring other agricultural alternatives to dairy farming, preference to receive financial and/or other support to remain in the industry and preference to receive financial and/or other support to transition into a different form of farming or business.

Aims: Extragonadal yolk sac tumour (YST) is rare, and may present a diagnostic challenge. YST differentiation was recently reported in some somatically derived tumours in the sinonasal location and in the female genital tract, together with a SMARCB1/INI1 loss. We report two paratesticular/inguinal tumours with striking morphological and immunohistochemical similarities with YST, further expanding the spectrum of extragonadal tumours with YST-like morphology and SMARCB1/INI1 loss.

Objective: Despite several surgical options, there has yet to be a consensus on the best treatment for femoral neck fracture (FNF) due to higher complication rates compared to other bone fractures. This study aims to examine the possible consequences and solution suggestions of changing screws during surgery for various reasons in FNF surgical treatment from a biomechanical perspective.

Method: FNF and treatment materials were analyzed biomechanically using a package program based on the finite element method (FEM).

Aim: This study aims to assess the impacts of various trigger day progesterone (P) and luteinizing hormone (LH) levels on live birth rates (LBRs) in fresh in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycles, considering their elevation from stimulation and premature luteinization.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study included the first ovarian stimulation cycles with GnRH antagonist protocol of 1253 patients who underwent intracytoplasmic sperm injection and fresh embryo transfer at a tertiary clinic's IVF center between 2010 and 2016. Participants were divided into four groups based on trigger day serum P and LH levels, using the 90th percentile thresholds for P (1.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a progressive joint disease that is a frequent reason for pain and physical dysfunction in adults, with enormous social and economic burden. Although ongoing scientific efforts in recent years have made considerable progress towards understanding of the disease's molecular mechanism, the pathogenesis of OA is still not fully known, and its clinical challenge remains. Thus, elucidating molecular events underlying the initiation and progression of OA is crucial for developing novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches that could facilitate effective clinical management of the illness.

Artificial Intelligence Anxiety in Nursing Students: The Impact of Self-efficacy.

Comput Inform Nurs

January 2025

Author Affiliation: Psychiatric Nursing Department, Gulhane Nursing Faculty, University of Health Sciences, Ankara, Turkey.

As in many other sectors, artificial intelligence has an impact on health. Artificial intelligence anxiety may occur because of a lack of knowledge about the effects of artificial intelligence, its outcomes, and how it will be used, as well as potential labor concerns. This study aims to determine the artificial intelligence anxiety levels of nursing students and examine whether there is a relationship with their self-efficacy levels.

The global population is aging, and there is a concomitant increase in surgery for the elderly. In geriatric patients, where postoperative pain assessment is difficult, technological tools that perform automatic pain assessment are needed to alleviate the workload of nurses and to accurately assess patients' pain. This study offers a more reliable and rapid assessment tool for assessing the pain of elderly patients undergoing surgery.

The multi-host pathogen Rhodococcus equi is a parasite of macrophages preventing maturation of the phagolysosome, thus creating a hospitable environment supporting intracellular growth. Virulent R. equi isolated from foals, pigs and cattle harbor a host-specific virulence plasmid, pVAPA, pVAPB and pVAPN respectively, which encode a family of 17 Vap proteins belonging to seven monophyletic clades.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to compare the detection rates of breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL) using two methods: perometer and circumferential measurements, in patients who had breast cancer surgery.
  • A total of 101 female patients were monitored over 12 months, revealing that 34.7% showed signs of subclinical BCRL using circumferential measures, while 23.8% did so via perometer, with no significant difference in quality of life or functionality between those with and without subclinical lymphedema.
  • The researchers recommend regular monitoring for BCRL by the same healthcare provider and educating patients to enable early detection and intervention.
