Current status and management of peri-implantitis: A systematic review.

Aim: To systematically review the literature on the surgical and non-surgical methods for managing peri-implantitis.

Materials And Methods: An electronic search for randomised controlled trials published between 2019 and 2023 in the English language was performed with the Medline/PubMed database according to the guidelines of Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). The specific search terms were "periimplantitis", "non-surgical treatment", "surgical treatment" and combinations of these terms.

Clinical outcome of root canal obturation using different based sealers: a retrospective cohort study.

Background: This study aimed to assess and compare the performance of root canal treatment obturated either with calcium silicate-based or epoxy resin-based root canal sealers on retreatment cases with periapical lesions.

Methods: Patients' radiographic data and clinical records were obtained retrospectively from the computerized patient record system. A total of 44 teeth, 28 teeth treated with calcium silicate-based sealer and 16 teeth treated with epoxy resin-based sealer, were included in the study.

In vitro comparison of the effects of titanium-prepared platelet-rich fibrin and leukocyte platelet-rich fibrin on osteoblast behavior and their gen expression.

Objective: To compare the effects of titanium-prepared platelet-rich fibrin (T-PRF) and leukocyte platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF) on osteoblasts.

Methods: Venous blood samples were collected from ten volunteer patients to obtain T-PRF and L-PRF. The T-PRF group was labelled as Group T, the L-PRF group as Group L, and the control group, which includes only osteoblasts, was Group K.

Analysis of the relationship between medical achievement self-efficacy perception and impostor phenomenon in the postgraduate education process: a cross-sectional study.

Background: This study aimed to assess the correlation between the impostor phenomenon and the level of academic self-efficacy. The secondary aim was to determine the sociodemographic variables affecting these two conditions. Based on the acquired findings, it is possible to take supportive and preventive measures.

PSA testing in primary care: is it time to change our practice?

Background: Historical prostate-specific antigen (PSA)-based screening studies reduced prostate cancer-related deaths but also led to overdiagnosis/overtreatment. Since then, opportunistic PSA testing has increased, and late-stage diagnoses and prostate-cancer related deaths are rising.

Objectives: To review current trends regarding PSA testing in primary care and propose a collaborative approach to improve early prostate cancer detection.

Evaluating the effectiveness of advanced platelet-rich fibrin, photobiomodulation, pentoxifylline, and Alveogyl in the treatment of alveolar osteitis: a randomized controlled clinical trial.

Background: Alveolar osteitis is a type of small-scale osteomyelitis of the alveolar bone that occurs after tooth extraction, the etiology of which remains unknown, and alternative methods are being investigated for its treatment. The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of advanced platelet-rich fibrin (A-PRF), photobiomodulation (PBM), and Alveogyl (butamben, idoform, eugenol), which have shown success in the treatment of alveolar osteitis, with that of pentoxifylline (PTX) to determine whether PTX could be an alternative treatment for alveolar osteitis.

Methods: This study included 80 healthy volunteers diagnosed with alveolar osteitis in the extraction sockets of their mandibular first, second, and third molars.

Background: In addition to the health effects of plant-based diets, their impact on the environment is becoming increasingly important. This study was conducted to assess the impact of adherence to a plant-based diet on sustainable eating behaviors.

Materials And Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 2122 Turkish adults, 73% female and 27% male.

Mobile app communication to prevent ER visits post-circumcision: a prospective observational study.

Purpose: To assess the impact of a mobile phone application facilitating real-time visual and verbal communication on reducing emergency-room admissions following circumcision.

Methods: This prospective observational study included circumcision surgeries performed by one surgeon at our clinic between April and June 2024, after obtaining parental consent. Parents were divided into two groups: one received a mobile app phone number, while the other did not.

Rare association between ankylosing spondylitis and paget's disease: A case of pagetic vertebral ankylosis.

Paget's disease is a condition marked by abnormal bone remodeling, involving both excessive bone formation and destruction, predominantly in the elderly. Pagetic vertebral ankylosis is a rare manifestation, often associated with Paget's disease, ankylosing spondylitis, or diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis. This form of acquired vertebral ankylosis is uncommon and occurs in cases with bone-bridging syndesmophytes or osteophytes.

Given the ubiquitous nature of love, numerous theories have been proposed to explain its existence. One such theory refers to love as a commitment device, suggesting that romantic love evolved to foster commitment between partners and enhance their reproductive success. In the present study, we investigated this hypothesis using a large-scale sample of 86,310 individual responses collected across 90 countries.

Accidents in Primary Education Schools: Findings from a Nurse-Led Drama-Based Prevention Program.

This study aimed to analyze the causes of school accidents and examine the preliminary findings of a nurse-led, drama-based accident prevention program for children. This was a quasi-experimental study using a pretest-posttest approach with a single group. Data were collected using demographic information, school accident notification form, and Information and Behavior Scales for the Safety Measures of the Students.

Clinical features and molecular genetics of patients with RASopathies: expanding the phenotype with rare genes and novel variants.

Unlabelled: The RASopathies are a group of disorders resulting from a germline variant in the genes encoding the Ras/mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway. These disorders include Noonan syndrome (NS), cardiofaciocutaneous syndrome (CFC), Costello syndrome (CS), Legius syndrome (LS), and neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1), and have overlapping clinical features due to RAS/MAPK dysfunction. In this study, we aimed to describe the clinical and molecular features of patients exhibiting phenotypic manifestations consistent with RASopathies.

Tire wear particles (TWP) are emerging contaminants in the soil environment due to their widespread occurrence and potential threat to soil health. However, their impacts on soil biogeochemical processes remain unclear. Here, we investigated the effects of TWP at various doses and their leachate on soil respiration and denitrification using a robotized continuous-flow incubation system in upland soil.

Background: This study aimed to investigate the predictive value in the development of type I endoleak in patients undergoing elective endovascular aortic aneurysm repair (EVAR) for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA).

Methods: Clinical and radiological imaging data of 105 patients who underwent EVAR procedure due to AAA between August 2019 and May 2024 were evaluated. The patients were divided into two groups according to whether or not periprocedural type I endoleak developed; as the non-endoleak group (n=82) and endoleak group (n=23).

Muscle Tone and Stiffness Comparison in Ambulatory Children With Unilateral Spastic Cerebral Palsy: Implications for Postural Balance and Functional Mobility.

Objectives: To compare muscle tone and stiffness in ambulatory children with unilateral spastic cerebral palsy (UCP) with typically developing peers and explore their relationship with postural balance and functional mobility.

Methods: Forty ambulatory children with UCP and age-matched typically developing peers were assessed for tone and stiffness of lumbar spinal extensors, gastrocnemius, and hamstring muscles using a myotonometer. Functional mobility was evaluated with the 2-Minute Walk Test, and the Timed Up and Go Test, while postural balance was evaluated using the Pediatric Balance Scale and the Trunk Control Measurement Scale (TCMS).

The role of the intraplacental fetal artery in predicting the need for cesarean-hysterectomy in women at high risk for placenta accreta spectrum.

Introduction: Prenatal determination of placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) and its severity is crucial, as it is a highly morbid condition. The aim was to investigate the intraplacental fetal artery (IFA) as a novel ultrasonographic marker in predicting cesarean-hysterectomy need in PAS.

Methods: A prospective observational cohort study was conducted with a total of 62 women with placenta previa and ≥1 previous cesarean-section who were managed for PAS between September 2022 and January 2024.

Background: Frailty screening determines who receive geriatric emergency medicine interventions that are of high importance for patient outcomes. However, post-implementation evaluations show around 50% older Emergency Department (ED) attenders to receive screening. Why and who are omitted from screening remains largely unstudied.

Psychiatric Sequelae in Adult Open Globe Injury Patients.

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate psychiatric sequelae in open globe injury patients and to identify the risk factors associated with these sequelae.

Methods: After a complete ophthalmologic examination, Davidson Trauma Scale (DTS), State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), and Zung Depression Scale (ZDS) scores were administered to all patients. Patients were divided into 5 groups according to final best corrected visual acuity (BCVA): group 1 (no perception of light, NPL), group 2 [perception of light (PL) or hand movements (HM)], group 3 (1/200 to 19/200), group 4 (20/200 to 20/50), and group 5 (20/40 or above).

Clozapine-Associated Sialorrhea: A Literature Review.

Background: Clozapine has demonstrated efficacy in treating treatment-resistant schizophrenia; however, it has a wide range of side effects. Sialorrhea is a common side effect of clozapine that causes the patient to withdraw from social life. This review aims to evaluate and summarize the prevalence, mechanism, risk factors, and management of clozapine-associated sialorrhea.
