Frequency of Lyme disease in patients with tick contact and identification of ticks from Bolu province of Turkey.

Background Objectives: Lyme disease is a multisystemic disease caused by the bacteria in the Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato complex, which is transmitted by ticks of the Ixodes genus. Although there are seroprevalence studies and case reports of Lyme disease from various regions in Turkey, there is no widespread epidemiological research. This study aimed to determine the frequency of Lyme disease in the cases followed-up after tick contact and to examine the isolated ticks to reveal tick population from Bolu province.

Obesity is a complex condition associated with disruptions in carbohydrate, protein, and fat metabolism, linked to increased insulin resistance and glucose intolerance. High levels of Advanced Glycation End-products (AGEs) are associated with a range of chronic diseases, including kidney diseases, diabetic complications, cardiovascular diseases, and neurodegenerative diseases. Our study aims to investigate the accumulation of AGEs in the liver, renal and adipose tissues of mice fed a high-fat diet, contributing to a deeper understanding of obesity and its related metabolic disorders.

Objective: The study aimed to identify potential predictors of successful T-ICSI in men with idiopathic infertility and oligozoospermia (sperm concentration < 15 × 10/mL, non-azoospermic) who had previously experienced unsuccessful Ej-ICSI.

Materials And Methods: In total, 154 couples with male partners who had oligozoospermic conditions after two unsuccessful cycles of Ej-ICSI switched to T-ICSI.

Nobiletin alleviates methotrexate-induced hepatorenal toxicity in rats.

We investigated the possible ameliorative effects of nobiletin (NBL) against methotrexate (MTX)-induced hepatorenal toxicity in rats. Twenty-eight Wistar albino rats were randomly divided into four groups, namely: Control; MTX (administered 20 mg/kg MTX); MTX+NBL (administered 20 mg/kg MTX and 10 mg/kg NBL per day); and NBL (administered 10 mg/kg/day NBL). Histopathological, immunohistochemical and biochemical analyses were performed on the kidney and liver tissues of rats at the end of the study.

This study aims to develop polylactic acid (PLA)-based packaging films with imparted antimicrobial properties and enhanced physical characteristics by evaluating the likely interaction among multiple film components. For this purpose; epoxidized soybean oil (ES) (20 %) serves as a plasticizer, spruce resin (SR) (15 %) functions as both a plasticizer and antimicrobial agent, ZnO (0.1 %) acts as a nanofiller and antimicrobial, and finally thyme and clove essential oil mixture (5 % and 10 %) serves as an antimicrobial agent were incorporated to PLA film formulation.

We aimed to evaluate the effects of somatic growth and reproductive hormones on the development of external genitalia during mini-puberty. Here we report a case of celiac artery having a blind-ending branch in a 54-year-old man who underwent computed tomography of the abdomen before the kidney transplantation surgery. Preprocedural assessment of celiac artery variations is critical for surgical and angiographic procedures involving the upper abdomen.
