Cysteine derivatives having disulfide bonds in their side chains can be used as redox-responsive organogelators. The disulfide bond can be cleaved in the presence of certain reducing agents like thiol derivatives such as glutathione (GSH), which is a tripeptide that consists of cysteine, glutamic acid, and glycine. Studies show that cells of certain cancers have higher levels of glutathione due to increased production of reactive oxygen species (ROS).

Gold Nanoparticle-Modified Molecularly Imprinted Polymer-Coated Pencil Graphite Electrodes for Electrochemical Detection of Bisphenol A.

The sensitive Bisphenol A (BPA) detection by an electrochemical sensor based on gold nanoparticle-doped molecularly imprinted polymer was successfully improved. This study describes the development of a method for BPA detection in both aqueous solution and real water samples using N-methacroyl-(L)-cysteine methyl ester and N-methacryloyl-(L)-phenylalanine methyl ester coated pencil graphite electrodes modified with AuNPs by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). Importantly, AuNPs, which increase the electroactivity, were used to increase the surface area of a BPA-imprinted pencil graphite electrode (MIP PGE) sensor.

Simple and Green Process for Silk Fibroin Production by Water Degumming.

Silk fibroin (SF), a natural polymer with very desirable physicochemical and biological properties, is an ideal material for crafting biocompatible scaffolds in tissue engineering. However, conventional methods for removing the sericin layer and dissolving SF often involve environmentally harmful reagents and processes, requiring extensive dialysis procedures to purify the fibers produced. Such processes may also damage the surface and bulk properties of the SF produced.

Synthesis and Characterization of Schiff Bases and Their Ag(I) Complexes Containing 2,5,6-Trisubstituted Imidazothiadiazole Derivatives: Molecular Docking and In Vitro Cytotoxic Effects Against Nonsmall Lung Cancer Cell Line.

In this study, four novels 2,5,6-trisubstituted imidazothiadiazole derivative ligands and their Ag(I) complexes were synthesized and characterized using various spectroscopic analysis techniques. First, imidazo[2,1-b][1,3,4]thiadiazole derivative (3) was obtained from the reaction of 5-amino-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-thiol with benzyl bromide in the presence of KOH in an ethanolic medium. In the next step, the resultant compound reacted sequentially with four substituted phenacyl bromide derivatives (4a-4d) under refluxed ethanol for 24 h to obtain substituted 2-(benzylthio)-6-phenylimidazo[2,1-b][1,3,4]thiadiazole derivatives (5-8).

This study aims to evaluate the effects of plerixafor on the hemostatic system when used for autologous stem cell mobilization (ASCM) for poor mobilizers (PM) with lymphoma and multiple myeloma. Patients who were performed ASCM with plerixafor in combination with GCSF were prospectively enrolled.

BACKGROUND Studies on patients with obesity who lose a considerable amount of body fat show that the severity of knee pain and movement limitation is decreased. This study aimed to analyze the effects of weight loss on knee pain and quality of life in patients with obesity. MATERIAL AND METHODS The study included patients aged 18-65 years with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 kg/m² and above, who expressed knee pain in daily life routines and applied to the Obesity Center of Adana City Training and Research Hospital as of June 2018.

Prediction of Prostate Cancer From Routine Laboratory Markers With Automated Machine Learning.

Background: In this study, we attempted to select the optimum cases for a prostate biopsy based on routine laboratory test results in addition to prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test using H2O automated machine learning (AutoML) software, which includes many common machine learning algorithms.

Methods: The study included 737 patients (46-88 years old). Routine laboratory measurements were used to train machine learning models using H2O AutoML.

Knowledge, attitudes, and anxiety levels of parents with suspected COVID-19 children: A cross-sectional study in Turkey.

Objective: To determine the knowledge, attitudes and anxiety levels of parents with children suspected of having coronavirus disease-2019.

Methods: The descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted at the coronavirus disease-2019 outpatient clinic of a tertiary hospital in Ankara, Turkey, between January and August 2021, and comprised parents who presented with suspicions of coronavirus disease-2019 in their children. Data was collected using a questionnaire to assess the parents' knowledge and attitudes towards coronavirus disease-2019, the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory-I and the visual analogue scale to determine levels of fear related to coronavirus disease-2019.

FDG-PET-based brain network analysis: a brief review of metabolic connectivity.

Background: Over the past decades, the analysis metabolic connectivity patterns has received significant attention in exploring the underlying mechanism of human behaviors, and the neural underpinnings of brain neurological disorders. Brain network can be considered a powerful tool and play an important role in the analysis and understanding of brain metabolic patterns. With the advantages and emergence of metabolic-based network analysis, this study aims to systematically review how brain properties, under various conditions, can be studied using Fluorodeoxyglucose Positron Emission Tomography (FDG-PET) images and graph theory, as well as applications of this approach.

In this study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between the TyG index and CIN and mortality in patients who underwent PCI due to chronic total coronary occlusion (CTO).

Aim: This bibliometric study aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the history of empowerment in nursing using Reference Publication Year Spectroscopy (RPYS).

Methods: Descriptive and bibliometric analyses were conducted. The study is based on 762 publications from 1983 to 2024, with 14,582 cited references in the Web of Science.

This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the long-term and post-prandial effects of berry consumption on endothelial dysfunction (ED) in adults. To identify relevant randomised controlled trials (RCTs), a systematic search was run and studies that examined the effects of berries consumption on ED markers were included. A total of 45 RCTs were included, focusing on markers such as flow-mediated dilation (FMD), pulse wave velocity (PWV), augmentation index (AIx), reactive hyperaemia index (RHI) and total peripheral resistance (TPR).

Evaluating the utility of large language models in generating search strings for systematic reviews in anesthesiology: a comparative analysis of top-ranked journals.

Background: This study evaluated the effectiveness of large language models (LLMs), specifically ChatGPT 4o and a custom-designed model, Meta-Analysis Librarian, in generating accurate search strings for systematic reviews (SRs) in the field of anesthesiology.

Methods: We selected 85 SRs from the top 10 anesthesiology journals, according to Web of Science rankings, and extracted reference lists as benchmarks. Using study titles as input, we generated four search strings per SR: three with ChatGPT 4o using general prompts and one with the Meta-Analysis Librarian model, which follows a structured, Population, Intervention, Comparator, Outcome-based approach aligned with Cochrane Handbook standards.
