Objectives: This study evaluates the potential of pulp volume/total tooth-volume measurements of canine teeth in relation to chronologic age in patients with cleft lip and palate (CLP). The significance of this study lies in its exploration of the usability of these measurements for age determination in CLP patients, providing a novel perspective to the existing literature.
Methods: Cone beam computed tomography images of 33 patients (16 females, 17 males) with unilateral CLP aged 14-45 years and 33 age- and sex-matched healthy individuals (16 females, 17 males) were retrospectively evaluated.

This study explores a transfer learning approach with vision transformers (ViTs) and convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for classifying retinal diseases, specifically diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and cataracts, from ophthalmoscopy images. Using a balanced subset of 4217 images and ophthalmology-specific pretrained ViT backbones, this method demonstrates significant improvements in classification accuracy, offering potential for broader applications in medical imaging. Glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and cataracts are common eye diseases that can cause vision loss if not treated.

Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF) is a genetic autoinflammatory disorder characterized by recurrent febrile episodes that are accompanied by pain in the abdomen, chest, or joints caused by peritonitis, pleuritis, skin lesions, arthritis, and pericarditis. This original article aims to provide an analytic autoethnographic account of a Turkish patient's experience of FMF, with a focus on the discovery of spiritual meaning. In addition to discussing the grief reactions to a loss of health, the article uses self-reflexive discourse and narrative-based analysis to explore four stages of discovery of spiritual meaning through FMF: "omnipotent me," "God's punishment," "God's test," and "God's mercy.

In the manufacturing of some sectors, such as marble and brick, certain byproducts, such as sludge, powder, and pieces containing valuable chemical compounds, emerge. Some concrete plants utilize these byproducts as mineralogical additives in Turkey. The objective of the experimental study is to ascertain whether the incorporation of waste from the marble and brick industries, in powder form, into cement manufacturing as a mineralogical additive or substitute is a viable option.

The autonomic nervous system plays a crucial role in regulating physiological processes and maintaining homeostasis through its two branches: the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) and the parasympathetic nervous system. Dysregulation of the autonomic system, characterized by increased sympathetic activity and reduced parasympathetic tone, is a common feature in chronic kidney disease (CKD) and cardiovascular disease. This imbalance contributes to a pro-inflammatory state, exacerbating disease progression and increasing the risk for cardiovascular events.

Global change stressors, including climate warming, eutrophication, and small-sized omnivorous fish, may exert interactive effects on the food webs and functioning of shallow lakes. Periphyton plays a central role in the primary production and nutrient cycling of shallow lakes but constitutes a complex community composed of eukaryotes and prokaryotes that may exhibit different responses to multiple environmental stressors with implications for the projections of the effects of global change on shallow lakes. We analyzed the effects of warming, nutrient enrichment, small omnivorous fish and their interactions on eukaryotic and prokaryotic periphyton structures in shallow lake mesocosms.

The , authored by Ottoman pharmacist Georgios Photeinos and published in 1835 in Smyrna (modern-day Izmir, T??rkiye), is a historically significant yet largely overlooked work in 19th-century pharmaceutical literature. At a time when modern pharmaceutical resources in Greek were scarce, Photeinos sought to address this gap by creating a comprehensive pharmacopoeia that extensively drew from the Austrian Pharmacopoeia, as well as French and Latin sources. Although he initiated the project around 1804, political upheavals delayed its completion by more than three decades.

This case report aims to demonstrate a rare occurrence of tendon rupture attributable to levofloxacin use in Helicobacter pylori eradication. On the seventh day of treatment, the patient experienced severe foot pain and difficulty in walking, leading to a diagnosis of Achilles tendon rupture confirmed through magnetic resonance imaging. Levofloxacin-induced tendinopathy and/or rupture are rare complications that are often linked to age and sex.

Importance: This study addresses the characteristics, kidney replacement therapy (KRT) modalities, and outcomes in children diagnosed with crush syndrome following an earthquake in Turkey.
Objective: To analyze the associations of different KRT modalities with long-term dialysis dependency and length of stay (LOS) in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU).
Design, Setting, And Participants: This multicenter, prospective, and retrospective cohort study was conducted across 20 PICUs in Turkey.
Language is a sophisticated cognitive skill that relies on the coordinated activity of cerebral cortex. Acquiring a second language creates intricate modifications in brain connectivity. Although considerable studies have evaluated the impact of second language acquisition on brain networks in adulthood, the results regarding the ultimate form of adaptive plasticity remain inconsistent within the adult population.

The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of different types of low level laser treatment (LLLT) in reducing pain levels, changing oxygen saturation and bite force in patients with myofacial pain syndrome (MPS). 45 patients were randomly assigned to three groups: Group 1 (GRR laser, n = 15) received LLLT with Gallium-Aluminium-Arsenide (GaAlAs) diode laser with a wavelength of 904 nm and red laser with a wavelength of 650 nm over masseter muscle region. Group 2 (Nd: YAG laser, n = 15) were treated with Neodymium-doped Yttrium Aluminium Garnet laser with a wavelength of 1064 nm and the same protocol with Nd: YAG laser was performed in the Group 3 (placebo, n = 15) using sham device.

Autosomal recessive proximal renal tubular acidosis (AR-pRTA) with ocular abnormalities is a rare syndrome caused by variants in the SLC4A4 gene, which encodes Na/HCO3 cotransporter (NBCe1). The syndrome primarily affects the kidneys, but also causes extra-renal manifestations. Pancreatic type NBCe1 is located at the basolateral membrane of the pancreatic ductal cells and together with CFTR chloride channel, it is involved in bicarbonate secretion.

Purpose: As Bladder EpiCheck (BE) is a promising urinary biomarker for diagnosis and follow up of non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC), there are no studies evaluated this tool for second transurethral resection (TUR) indication. We aim to evaluate the performance of BE in predicting residual tumor before second TUR in NMIBC and its effects on clinical decision making.
Methods: A total of 50 patients who were diagnosed with NMIBC and indicated for a second TUR were included in the study prospectively.
