Space missions have revealed certain disincentive factors of this unique environment, such as microgravity, cosmic radiation, etc., as the aerospace industry has made substantial progress in exploring deep space and its impacts on human body. Galactic cosmic radiation (GCR), a form of ionizing radiation, is one of those environmental factors that has potential health implications and, as a result, may limit the duration - and possibly the occurrence - of deep-space missions.

Afsin Vocational School, Department of Chemistry and Chemical Processing Technologies, Kahramanmaras Sutcu Imam University, Kahramanmaras, Turkey. Electronic address:

This study investigated the binding mechanism of taxifolin (TA), daidzein (DA), and S-equol (SQ) flavonoids with fish sperm double helix DNA (dsDNA) under the simulated physiological pH condition using UV-Vis and photoluminescence spectroscopy, as well as viscometric methods. Binding constants (K) for the flavonoids to dsDNA were determined as 1.8 × 10 M for SQ, 1.

Epilepsy is characterized by neuronal discharges that occur as a result of disruption of the excitatory and inhibitory balance of the brain due to functional and structural changes. It has been shown in the literature that this neurological disorder may be related to the expression of ion channels. Any defect in the function or expression mechanism of these channels can lead to various neuronal disorders such as epilepsy.

In this study, new 2-indolinone-indole hybrid compounds (4a-s) carrying a benzoyl moiety were synthesized and their cytotoxic effects were examined against pancreatic (MIA-PaCa-2) and colon (HT-29 and HCT-116) cancer cells by MTT assays. Most of the tested compounds exhibited a better inhibitory activity and safety profile than the reference standard sunitinib malate against MIA-PaCa-2 and HCT-116 cancer cells. Compound 4e displayed the greatest cytotoxic effect on HCT-116 cell with an IC value of 0.

In the era of economic globalization, China attracts significant foreign direct investment (FDI) to accelerate economic prosperity. FDI inflows could have ramifications on environmental degradation (ED) despite the enactment of different environmental regulations (ERs) such as market-incentive, command-and-control as well as informal regulations. Though some studies have shown that FDI and ED have significant relationship, the moderating roles of different ERs on the environmental impact of FDI has not been empirically unraveled.
