Objective: It is well known that children who suffer from obesity and asthma may also have exercise-induced bronchospasm. Exhaled nitric oxide is an indicator of airway inflammation, and could be affected by exercise. This study looked at how exercise, which is a typical cause of acute airway obstruction, affects the levels of FeNO and in obese and asthmatic children.

Background: Modulation of protein synthesis according to the physiological cues is maintained through tight control of Eukaryotic Elongation Factor 2 (eEF2), whose unique translocase activity is essential for cell viability. Phosphorylation of eEF2 at its Thr56 residue inactivates this function in translation. In our previous study we reported a novel mode of post-translational modification that promotes higher efficiency in T56 phosphorylation.

Background: La-related protein 7 (LARP7) is a key regulator of RNA metabolism and is thought to play a role in various cellular processes. LARP7 gene autosomal recessive mutations are the cause of Alazami syndrome, which presents with skeletal abnormalities, intellectual disabilities, and facial dysmorphisms. This study aimed to determine the role of LARP7 in modulating gene expression dynamics during osteogenesis.

IL-17 and IL-23 inhibitors have shown successful results in improving skin lesions in the treatment of moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis. However, psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by systemic inflammation including joints in addition to skin lesions. Therefore, in this retrospective and observational cohort study, we aimed to evaluate the effect of IL-17 inhibitors (secukinumab and ixekizumab) and IL-23 inhibitors (risankizumab and guselkumab) on systemic inflammation in psoriasis.

Background: Transcutaneous electrical stimulation after breast cancer surgery has been utilized for various purposes, but the full efficacy of this treatment approach on postoperative symptoms remains unclear.
Aim: This study aimed to answer the question: Does transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation significantly impact postoperative patient outcomes in individuals undergoing breast cancer surgery?
Methods: A systematic review of randomized controlled trials was conducted. Because of the limited number of studies included, it was not feasible to perform a meta-analysis.

Introduction And Hypothesis: Coital incontinence (CI) is an important problem that negatively affects women's quality of life and is often underreported owing to embarrassment, indicating the importance of its assessment with validated questionnaires. The aim of this study was to validate the Turkish-translated version of the International Female Coital Incontinence Questionnaire (IFCI-Q) for the objective evaluation of women with CI in Turkish-speaking populations.
Methods: Ninety women with CI filled out the Turkish-translated version of IFCI-Q.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the need to continue diagnosis and treatment processes, in addition to scientific research, led to a rapid shift towards direct-to-home tele-neuropsychology administrations, the reliability and validity of which had not been clearly established then. This study, therefore, aimed to examine the reliability of direct-to-home tele-neuropsychological assessment (TNP). The sample included 105 cognitively healthy individuals aged between 50-83 years, and 47 patients diagnosed with neurocognitive disorders (mild cognitive impairment and early-stage Alzheimer's type dementia).

Purpose: Intravitreal bevacizumab has been utilized to mitigate radiation retinopathy, yet the potential role of intravitreal melatonin for its prevention remains unexplored. This study aims to evaluate and compare the efficacy of intravitreal melatonin and bevacizumab in preventing radiation retinopathy in an experimental animal model.

Staining brain slices with acetoxymethyl ester (AM) Ca dyes is a straightforward procedure to load multiple cells, and Fluo-4 is a commonly used high-affinity indicator due to its very large dynamic range. It has been shown that this dye preferentially stains glial cells, providing slow and large Ca transients, but it is questionable whether and at which temporal resolution it can also report Ca transients from neuronal cells. Here, by electrically stimulating mouse hippocampal slices, we resolved fast neuronal signals corresponding to 1%-3% maximal fluorescence changes.

Target odorant detection in mixtures has been shown to become more difficult as the number of background odorants increases and falls below chance level in mixtures with 16 components. Our aim was to investigate target odorant detection in mixtures among healthy people and compare it between dysosmic patients and age- and gender-matched controls. Participants underwent extensive olfactory testing and performed two target odorant detection tasks.

Background: Obstetric violence (OBV), defined as mistreatment or abuse during childbirth, is a pervasive global issue, albeit with regional differences, affecting women's physical and emotional well-being.
Objectives: The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to assess the prevalence of OBV to identify risk factors associated with OBV and to make suggestions for improving maternal healthcare practices and policies.
Search Strategy: In a systematic review and meta-analysis, we searched four electronic databases for studies published over 10 years up to 31 January 2024: Medline (PubMed), Scopus, Embase, and Web of Science (WOS).

Objective: To build consensus on most important symptoms and related consequences for use in questionnaires to characterise individuals with suspected and confirmed endometriosis in the general population.
Design: A questionnaire of 107 symptoms and related consequences of endometriosis was collaboratively developed by patients, medical doctors and researchers and further assessed in a two-round e-Delphi study. Participants assessed the relevance of the symptoms, and a priori it was decided that 70% was the threshold for inclusion of a symptom.

Regulation of protein production in response to physiological signals is achieved through precise control of Eukaryotic Elongation Factor 2 (eEF2), whose distinct translocase function is crucial for cell survival. Phosphorylation of eEF2 at its Thr56 (T56) residue inactivates this function in translation. Using genetically modified paralogue of a colon cancer cell line, HCT116 which carries a point mutation at Ser595-to-Alanine in the eEF2 gene we were able to create a constitutively active form of eEF2.

Distraction osteogenesis is a valuable clinical technique used to address length discrepancies in long bone deformities. This procedure involves performing an osteotomy at an appropriate site in the bone and correcting the deformity through an extension system. This research aims to investigate the efficacy of a newly developed device for use in rat tibias and to provide an alternative to existing devices used in animal experiments.
