Introduction: Daratumumab is a CD38-targeting monoclonal antibody that has demonstrated clinical benefit for multiple myeloma. Daratumumab inhibition of CD38, which is expressed on immune cell populations and cardiomyocytes, could potentially affect cardiac function. This QTc substudy of the phase 2 CENTAURUS study investigated the potential effect of intravenous daratumumab monotherapy on QTc prolongation and other electrocardiogram (ECG) parameters, including concentration-QTc effect modeling.

Oral Azacitidine Maintenance Therapy for Acute Myeloid Leukemia in First Remission.

Background: Although induction chemotherapy results in remission in many older patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), relapse is common and overall survival is poor.

Methods: We conducted a phase 3, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of the oral formulation of azacitidine (CC-486, a hypomethylating agent that is not bioequivalent to injectable azacitidine), as maintenance therapy in patients with AML who were in first remission after intensive chemotherapy. Patients who were 55 years of age or older, were in complete remission with or without complete blood count recovery, and were not candidates for hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation were randomly assigned to receive CC-486 (300 mg) or placebo once daily for 14 days per 28-day cycle.

Mortality analysis of COVID-19 infection in chronic kidney disease, haemodialysis and renal transplant patients compared with patients without kidney disease: a nationwide analysis from Turkey.

Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) and immunosuppression, such as in renal transplantation (RT), stand as one of the established potential risk factors for severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Case morbidity and mortality rates for any type of infection have always been much higher in CKD, haemodialysis (HD) and RT patients than in the general population. A large study comparing COVID-19 outcome in moderate to advanced CKD (Stages 3-5), HD and RT patients with a control group of patients is still lacking.

VEGF levels in patients with glioma: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) has a crucial role in the angiogenesis of various tumors, including glioma. As the levels of VEGF would change in patients with glioma, we conducted the current systematic review and meta-analysis to more clearly determine the VEGF level alterations in different grades of glioma. PubMed and Scopus databases were sensitively searched for all the possible keywords addressing glioma and VEGF.

Comprehensive Analysis of Long-term Splenic Volume Changes in Pediatric Liver Transplant Patients: Does It Correlate With Adverse Graft Outcomes?

Objectives: Splenomegaly and hypersplenism caused by liver failure increase the mortality and morbidity of patients even after liver transplantation if they do not regress. We evaluated the relation of splenic volume change and transplanted liver function.

Material And Methods: A total of 59 of 207 pediatric patients who had liver transplantation between 2013 and 2018 in our institute were evaluated.

Radiomics in Hepatocellular Carcinoma.

Background: Radiomics is an emerging field that extracts high-throughput imaging data from different types of images to build models and predict clinical outcomes ina non-invasive manner. This field currently is in the initial growth phase and lacks standardized evaluation criteria but remains a very promising tool for the future todevelop suitable biomarkers for diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment response assessments. The analysis of hepatocellular carcinoma by radiomics will contribute toearly diagnosis and treatment of tumors and improve survival and cure rates.

Azacitidine and Venetoclax in Previously Untreated Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Background: Older patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) have a dismal prognosis, even after treatment with a hypomethylating agent. Azacitidine added to venetoclax had promising efficacy in a previous phase 1b study.

Methods: We randomly assigned previously untreated patients with confirmed AML who were ineligible for standard induction therapy because of coexisting conditions, because they were 75 years of age or older, or both to azacitidine plus either venetoclax or placebo.

Life-saving effect of convalescent plasma treatment in covid-19 disease: Clinical trial from eastern Anatolia.

Aim: Convalescent Plasma (CP) therapy is of interest as no vaccine or specific treatment is available for emerging viruses such as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 causing Covid-19. It was aimed to report the results of our patients who underwent CP in the treatment of Covid-19.

Methods: CP treatment was applied to 26 Covid-19 patients in intensive care unit who had quantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction positive Sars-Cov-2 infection.

Purpose: Bone-cement (BC) ossiculoplasty is one of the options to solve ossicular chain problems. Many authors reported successful results in the early or mid-follow-up period; however, there is no long-term result in the literature. We aim to evaluate long term results of BC ossiculoplasty.

A Rare Cause of Dysphagia: Giant Lipoma in Parapharyngeal Space.

Background: Parapharyngeal area is one of the most complex areas of head and neck anatomy. Tumors of the parapharyngeal region are very rare among head and neck tumors. Lipomas also constitute a tiny proportion of parapharyngeal tumors so parapharyngeal area lipomas are very rare in the literature.

Nivolumab for relapsed or refractory Hodgkin lymphoma: real-life experience.

Classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) is considered a curable disease; however, in approximately one-third of the responding patients, the disease relapses following completion of therapy. One of the drugs that have been approved for the treatment of relapsed/refractory cHL is nivolumab, an immune check point inhibitor that shows its effects by blocking the programmed death 1 (PD-1) receptor. In this study, we present a retrospective "real-life" analysis of the usage of nivolumab in patients with relapsed/refractory cHL that have joined the named patient program (NPP) for nivolumab, reflecting 4 years of experience in the treatment of relapsed/refractory cHL.

Acute kidney injury and peritoneal dialysis in extremely low birth weight newborns.

Background: In 12.5-56% of extremely low birth weight (ELBW) infants treated in newborn units, acute kidney injury (AKI) develops. Some of these infants may need renal replacement therapy for several reasons including hyperkalemia, hypovolemia and resistant acidosis.

Early Access Program Results From Turkey and a Literature Review on Daratumumab Monotherapy Among Heavily Pretreated Patients With Relapsed/Refractory Myeloma.

Background: In countries where frontline drug approval is limited to first-generation proteasome inhibitors or immunomodulatory drugs, relapses have been both more frequent and less durable. We investigated real world data on the efficacy and safety of daratumumab monotherapy among patients with relapsed refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM) from Turkey using a prospective early access program.

Patients And Methods: A total of 42 patients with RRMM after a minimum of 3 previous lines of proteasome inhibitor/immunomodulatory drug-based treatments were included from 25 centers across Turkey.

Background: In 2009, we identified TACO1 as a novel mitochondrial disease gene in a single family, however no second family has been described to confirm the role of TACO1 in mitochondrial disease.

Objective: In this report, we describe two independent consanguineous families carrying pathogenic variants in TACO1, confirming the phenotype.

Methods: Detailed clinical investigations and whole exome sequencing with haplotype analysis have been performed in several members of the two reported families.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine the parents' lived experiences whose children have Mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) by using Husserl's phenomenology.

Design And Methods: A phenomenology method was used as a qualitative research design in the study. The study included parents of 10 children who received weekly enzyme replacement therapy at a university hospital's paediatric endocrinology clinic.

Purpose: To evaluate conjunctival surface cells and tear-film functions in cases with vitamin D deficiency.

Methods: Thirty-six patients with serum vitamin D deficiency and 27 control subjects with normal serum vitamin D levels were included in this prospective study. The tear break-up time (TBUT), Schirmer II test, and conjunctival impression cytology tests were performed to all participants.

Purpose: The increasing availability of Internet as a health-care source causes both positive and negative effects on public health. Though reaching to information about diseases is faster and easier, the contents are not always correct and might be misleading. In our study, we aim to investigate the quality of YouTube™ videos on larynx cancer.

Iatrogenic Ureteral Injury as a Complication of Posterior or Lateral Lumbar Spine Surgery: A Systematic Review of the Literature.

Objective: Iatrogenic ureteral injury associated with lumbar spine surgery is an uncommon but devastating complication with associated medicolegal implications.

Methods: We performed a systematic review of the English language literature published between 1954 and 2019, accessed through 4 popular databases. We found 44 articles (28 case reports, 9 case-based reviews, 4 case series, 1 original article, 1 case illustration, and 1 pictorial) containing 46 cases of ureteral injuries after posterior or lateral lumbar spine surgery.

Can High Average Oxygen Saturation be a Risk Factor for Necrotizing Enterocolitis in VLBW Infants?

Background: Avoiding hyperoxia with oxygen saturation monitoring is important in the follow-up of very low birth weight (VLBW) infants. Role of oxygen-derived free radicals in the pathogenesis of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) has been well defined. However, a great majority of the evidence supporting the role of hyperoxia in NEC development are data from experimental studies and there are very few clinical studies.
